This episode was just boring as fuck.

I actually cried my eyes out watching this episode.
I really thought she would survive. ='(
Darn the stupid heavy snowfall on the day of the birth, and darn the premature birth! >=0
Had she made it to the hospital, she probably would have lived. =(
But of course then she would not have given birth in the way that she had always hoped to. Well, at least the baby made it through, and at least Tomoya was able to be the first one to hold Ushio, however due to certain circumstances, it seems that Akio was unable to be the first to lick Ushio. ='(
(But i'm not 100% certain, lol, considering he always manages to pop up out of nowhere, or maybe I just missed it)

I was already foreshadowing this but I still went from a man to a little baby... Can't believe I cried so much during an animated scene... That was really powerful, both Nagisa's victory for being able to deliver and her final breath due to exhaustion... One of the most emotional episodes I have ever, ever seen.

Your not the only one, I rarely cry and yet this anime made me cry multiple times, it just shows how much of a great plot + story telling+ music this anime has. It was on of the most emotional and powerful episode I have seen.

Dango...... as pronounced the English word "dang" and o... I am disappointed Sanae.
Ushio's dubber really sounded weird though...Matranga did a decent job, but it was probably because the scene is too good.

Still, I was able to shed tears when pulling an all nighter!

I shed tears from the moment that scene started right up to the totally mood-shattering music of the credits, and then I kept tearing up.

I knew what was going to happen because, thinking it wasn't going to get dubbed, I had wiki'd and youtube'd Clannad scenes, but purposefully held off on any videos of that sad moment.

It was also rather powerful/touching when listening to the commentary on the dub when the two actors could barely finish a sentence during that scene.

Noo NAGISA! plz tell me she's just sleeping... Tomoya was being selfish... saying they should have never met... they just finished their Dango family 2... 1 for each of them. . . anyway if we think positive... im glad every1 came 2 see Tomoya and Nagisa! the whole story was awesome... i cant wait 2 see how the girl and the robot guy makes it out of the world... its cool that Tomoya remembered Nagisa's play when he heard the story... i wonder what he has 2 do with that world... i hope he doesn't disappear when he remembers or something... but anyway it sucks she was sick when going in2 labor! and i guess its okay they did it at home... but why did Nagisa go 2 sleep?! it's not fair. . .

Bugger.

After a joyful new years reunion with the old group, and Sunohara's light relief, the second half was pure tradgedy.

Nothing else I write will sum up what I think or feel right now, so, as it;s late, im just going to bed. I'll watch the rest of the series tomorrow.

Rewatched this show now that it's out on Blu-ray. Must be like the 4th or 5th time I've seen this episode so I knew exactly what was going to happen. Didn't matter. Cried anyways.

It's impossible not to cry in this episode. The second half of it was totally heartbreaking. Did she really die? I don't even want to believe it...

I felt the same. It was my first time watching, and well yes it was very upsetting but ever since he made the promise to go to the beach as a family in an earlier episode I cried, >_<.

Wow, you call this a happy ending? What happened to all the peaceful and happy endings to all the arcs thus far?

Of course I can't give this a low rating solely for that, it's still great, but just wow. I'm not good at crying but this is just... no wonder Tomoya's supposed to be depressed next episode. I'm already thrown off myself.

How are they going to fill 8 episodes now?

Never actually though this would happen.

We don't often see many of the first season's characters anymore, that's sad, but without Nagisa, it clearly won't be the same.

I hated how the pregnancy thing was rushed. Did anyone else noticed that thee baby had a lot of hair? I thought that was really strange.

Anyways it was REALLY sad.

I felt my eyes watering as I watched Nagisa's life fade away.

The scene of her death was both tragic and heart-rending; I couldn't help but feel immense vibes of sorrow emanating from Tomoya's character.

5 7/5 for this episode; It's just too good for mere words to describe.

That was probably the saddest episode of anime I've ever seen. The build up in all of Clannad led to this once moment... and it hurts.

Todd Douglass Jr. gave Clannad After Story a "Highly Recommended" rating, stating that "the range of emotions Clannad takes you through is quite daunting. It's charming, cute, hilarious, mysterious, and tragic all at the same time. Few shows are as memorable, and few are this good for this long." He concludes that the storytelling is "heartfelt" and "memorable in so many ways," and that "few shows rise to the levels this one does."

This critique is so true....

Me too, I spoiled myself, since I heard that they are going to grow up and have a kid. Since first part has it sad moments, but in overall it is quite happy, I wanted to see what to expect... Well, I got more than I bargained for... I spoiled myself so much... Even so I cried like a baby... :D

Episode killed me again for the 6th time....

This might be my last re-watch for now. I just can't take it anymore. In last 2 months I've watched only this, re-watch after re-watch. Every time Nagisa dies a part of me dies (because of the sadness)... I know there is a happy ending, but I can't stop myself but think what if this happens to me... Dude there are no miracles in real life like there are here. There is no happy ending....

Maybe again in few years I will re-watch both series again. So far 6 of each are enough :D

at episode 9 this was fast working its way up my all time favorites but now i wish i had never watched it. I knew there was way to much episodes left and they jumped to the pregnancy way to soon for evreything to be going so good. It's not that i don't like sad storries its that i rather never watch them. Thats was me trying to joke a few minutes since having my heart ripped out. They made alternate stories for kyou and tomopyon couldn't they make an alternate where that dosn't happen?

My whole day is ruined. I am at work, sick to my stomach. Need my wife right now, need to cuddle her for like 10 hours and remind myself that I have to do my very best for her everyday and cherish every moment I have with her.

Oh good lord, I am so sad, I can't stop tearing up... I just don't believe this. I just don't believe it. I want to throw up. How could this happen??

This episode nearly made me cry. I haven't felt my tear glands activate in years...

The story is so realistic, it's painful. Lot's of anime have realistic themes, but they are all stuck in their own fantasy world. Besides the alternate dimensions and robot children, everything in this show is down-to-earth. If somebody told me the same story and claimed it happened to them in real life, I'd believe them.

Even though it was pretty predictable that Nagisa would die (i guessed it from a mile away when they said she would have a dangerous childbirth due to her weak body), words can't express the sadness i feel. No tears, but emotions welled up in me. The flashbacks and montages of Nagisa made the emotional impact that much stronger.

On other note, the ED song sure killed the mood after how depressing this episode was.
