I don't think there's any specific rule for that, but I'd say it's easier if you leave it green to signal that it's on-going, but write the day you submit your form as the Finished date.

If you want to, you could also write which was the last chapter you read, to make it easier to tell if you're up-to-date.

Hi, I hope people will see this. Before December end, I need help with:

(17) Read a manga recommended to you by another participant in the discussion thread

(78) Read a manga recommended to you by a challenge staff member

Any genre is fine but please don't take it from my plan to read, and preferably <10 volume, thanks!

(48) Read a manga with a protagonist with an unnatural hair color

I've used Billionaire Girl for this. The main story has 17 chapters, while another 3 are special short stories at the end of each volume. They weren't translated in neither English nor Spanish (my first language). Does that count as finishing the item? Since I'll add it to my list as On-Hold with 17 chapters read.

I have a question about a situation I've ended up in and hopefully I can explain it well enough to get an answer.

For one of the items I've been reading Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (Descending Stories) using the English print release. The release date of the final printed volume has been pushed back to after the end of the challenge, however the ebook version released today.

My question is do I have to read the ebook to properly finish my challenge or can it be considered ongoing, as the format I was reading is technically incomplete right now? I preordered the book months ago and would rather not buy it twice, but if I absolutely need to buy the ebook I will.

Sorry for the length, I just wanted to clarify since the end of the challenge period is near.

Hahah! Of course you don't have to buy it again, the format you were using is incomplete, so just catch up to that. :)

Can I use 21st Century boys for this challenge?
"Read an award-winning manga"

The additional info on the MAL page lists the following
20th Century Boys and 21st Century Boys' combined storyline won the Grand Prize at the 37th Japan Cartoonist Awards on May 9, 2008.

I've used the first series (20th century) as a best-selling series to read, and was wondering if the collective award for the duo was enough to warrant the use of the epilogue (21st century) for the award-winning challenge item. If not, I have a few other titles to read for the challenge, though this would make for a neat little combo.

I'd say it's fine since it says it's the combined storyline. :)

Glad you like them! :D I personally prefer Bokurano, but Kanojo wo Mamoru 51 no Houhou is also great, the first is more sci-fi psychological while the second is more drama with some good moments.

Question: I finished Eclair for the short stories manga challenge entry. I bought the book and it has 16 chapters. On MAL it says it's ongoing but made in 2016. Is this manga finished or is there more?
Notice: I read most manga in Japanese now so I'm not sure where you can read in English. Sorry in advance.

There is more, but it isn't translated and baka updates has the official English translation as completed. It seems to be an ongoing series of anthologies each with similar names (Eclair, Eclair Blanche, Eclair Bleue, Eclair Rogue) but it also seems like Yen Press will not be translating everything post the original volume - but that explains why MAL has it listed as ongoing.

For challenge purposes, I'd consider it completed/caught up with current translated chapter if you submitted it.

You have to complete it up to whatever's released in the medium you chose.
If you're using physical manga, and the manga is completely translated, you have to finish it, that means buying it completely, instead of just buying the first two volumes and reading them.
You basically have to read everything available. In this case, read = complete, unless it's on-going.

"The manga you choose to use for the challenge must be read in its entirety during the challenge period."

Can anyone rec a light novel to read. It's like my last challenge and I know next to nothing about them or the community. Maybe something short (if that even exists) since there is 5 days left to finish up. Thanks in advance ;; this challenge is starting to give me anxiety lol.

Hi! Just in case you don't know, the light novel item can be completed with reading only 1 volume. Still, it can be a little tight for time.
I liked the first volume of the Zaregoto Series (I think this one's a bit episodic), there's also Re:Zero, and Youjo Senki.
Although I'm not familiar as to where to read them. :P

https://myanimelist.net/manga/44025/Waltraute-san_no_Konkatsu_Jijou
3 chapters(last chap is a short one)
just search it on google to get a pdf
those 3 chap total about 130+ pages
if you cant finish that...
i have no words
It's good that Slop leveling won the CR awards with such a power gap, Gaijin Weebs don't deserve good anime.
Not after what they did to frieren, kusuriya, and many others

Thanks for the valuable information. I read Time Killers in lieu of this information. An interesting anthology.

It usually starts around January 6th, but it may start a little later next year. There's not a final date at the moment, as far as I know.
Even then, everything you read from January 1st will be valid for the challenge, so you can read some stuff you're interested in and chances are you're going to be able to fit that in the challenge.
We look forward to your participation next year. :)

Thank you very much for your reply. I had a very busy year so I haven't had the chance to read much but I am very much looking forward to the new challenge. It's always nice to be challenged to read something out of ones comfort zone. It really enriches ones manga experience, in my opinion. I will definitely keep on reading in that case.
