Because some of them are fucking pretty and look awesome when displayed in your shelf, I for example bought this beauty:

for about US$90 (and with discount!), yeah, expensive af I know, but the figure gives so much value to my room view that I was even willing to pay a lot more for it.

Holy fuck that looks amazing!! What series is that from?

I have one figure and she's Tashigi from One Piece Why? I find Tashigi to be adorable. She's, by far, my favorite female Marine.

Because collecting things is fun.

Personally I don't own any as of yet, but I want to real bad, just rather spend money on other stuff atm.

But when I do get one, I want one of these 2 to buy first, for sure:

Why are you confused? Just buy Ryuko and reenact the battle for Honnouji. :p

I used to somewhat collect figures because I thought they looked cool in my little museum (aka room).
Now I have to buy books for college so the money I have left goes to manga, dvd's and blu-rays because I collect those as well.

I agree, collecting things is fun...

Because it's fun and exciting to watch your collection grow. Kinda like collecting stamps and coins. I already own 11 figurines myself.

I recently started collecting myself, bought 7 figures for around $230. They're not top tier level figures, but they're pretty nice for the price, Amazon has some pretty good deals. So it can be a managable hobby, just have to be smart about it.

Personally, I've never spent more than $100 on a single figure, but I've got a huge figure collection, and only about 25% of it is anime-based. Growing up, I always had more toys than my friends, and so as a teenager, that translated into being satisfied with seeing the nicer ones on display.

It is a bit like an addiction, in the way you start small, maybe just a shelf or decorations for your desk, but then the next thing you know, you have five glass cabinets filled with plastic. There are days where I look at the thousands of dollars just sitting there, and wonder if I should sell it all and spend it on something more useful. But then pics come out of that one character I've been waiting for a figure of, and the doubt evaporates.

If you look at only the bottom line, which is where the rep for figures being so ridiculously overpriced comes from, then sure, but relatively for animanga merch they're nothing special in terms of price markups. Fuckin' keychain for 25 euro type stuff isn't uncommon at all.

You can also skulk around and find some decently good deals (I saw a Shiro from NGNL figure that usually cost around 140 euro marked down to 31 the other day, on a generally trustworthy site no less, which seemed crazy) and save up over time rather than just splurging and buying many at once. That's what I do, at least, since I love collecting these mini-sculptures of characters I really like - put a little bit aside here and there when I can to save up, then pull out of that fund when I find a good deal on one I like after making rounds to see what's for sale where and how much.

I have a lot of anime toys and I fond to collect them. I want to live in anime characters and it will provide inner satisfaction. Most people buy anime sex dolls to satisfy their needs. My friend has 12 anime dolls. He really mad for them and buy most of the anime characters.

I'm more the elitist type when it comes down to figures. They're already expensive enough so I might as well get the best ones. Now, I only have Sakura flying above my head everyday but it feels good to know she's here flying like a fairy at home...

It's really so my bedroom doesn't look too boring.

I'm not the kind to overload my walls with a bunch of random stuff. I like to keep it as minimalistic and as clean as possible. No RGB, no posters, only a few shelves reserved exclusively for books...

A few waifus are basically the difference between clean and boring.
I can't afford the expensive stuff, though. I already spend thousands on manga, I just can't justify being a figure "elitist" too.

I mostly stick with the (Banpresto) EXQ line. Not only are they affordable low to mid range figures, but they are sold locally, which is a huge plus for me. I like supporting local anime/comic businesses. There are only a few in the entire country.

I don't have any figures yet, but I ordered this two months ago. It will ship next year from Sideshow, whose statues I've been told are remarkably detailed. I'm mostly not into superheros at all, except for a very small number including Batman. Batman Returns is also my favorite superhero movie. Or top three. Michelle Pfeiffer did a great job. I have wanted a really detailed Catwoman statue for years. When I was a kid in the 1990s, I had that McDonalds one from Batman the Animated Series.

I think it will look nice somewhere in my room. It will also act as a physical representation of my appreciation for the material. Which is why, I imagine, most people collect figures.

to wake up next to something beautiful. It wouldn't judge you at all. They would become a part of your life, AND who doesn't want their waifus/husbandos to take part in their lives? :)
