Girls buying anime isn't the reason why things like Keijo don't sell well. The market is oversaturated with ecchi and boob anime and so of course each series will have less sales.

I agree that girls buying Yuri on Ice have nothing to do with the poor sales of other anime, however how is the market saturated with ecchi? There were only 2 ecchi shows this fall (Keijo and Okusama ga Seitokaichou!+!), one of them being only 8min episodes, while there were were at least 5-6 shows targeted at fujoshis.
I'm not even sure we can find 5 real ecchi shows produced during the whole 2016.

pretty much confirmed that we ain't gettin no 2nd season of Keijo :(
I'm not even a fan of ecchi but Keijo was clearly the best shows of 2016 and one of the best shows of all time :(.

And what the hell is do great about Yuri on Ice? Seriously, I just don't understand. Let's take out the homosexual factor. On some real shit, wtf is so interesting about ice skating? How is ice skating better than Keijo? Do those fucking shit taste plebs not know greatness and creativity when they see it? Man that list triggered me so hard.

Are you serious? Ice skating is legit sport that has tons of fans. I haven't ever seen or heard of sport the girls are supposed to be playing, it's just invented "sport" for ecchi purposes. When YOI is ice skating first, romance second.

What is good about YOI:
- Relatable protagonist.
- Good romance.
- Funny comedy.
- Great OST.
- Likeable characters.
- Most of cast is adult. Thank god there is anime where everyone isn't high schoolers.

I'm really happy that YOI did so well. It's my second favorite of the season under HQ season 3.

Even though Japan puts out a huge amount of yaoi manga and shounen-ai shows, the views of the country are very homophobic. I'm glad a sports anime, with an orginal story too, was able to have a gay romance as a side story and still be able to sell well in Japan. Fujoshi stuff always sells well, obviously, but YOI did well because it's actually very revolutionizing for anime as a whole. How many shows outside of the shounen-ai or yaoi genre have gay romances in them? The only one I can think of is No.6.

I hope its success helps normalize gay romance in Japan and allows for more shows to include gay romance. There's nothing wrong with it. It needs to be normalized. All you straight people say, "I can't relate to it." Well, I can't relate to straight romance and I'm sick of seeing it everywhere. I'm glad there's a show out there that positively represents the romance my friends and I experience. The yaoi and shounen-ai shows have incredibly harmful representations of love. So many of them use denail and rape as a plot point, like Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Junjou Romantica, Love Stage!!, Super Lovers. It's ridiculous.

First, please don't use sales numbers to try and justify quality or lack thereof with regards to taste.

Second, please at least post the source of the numbers if you're going to bring up an alternative source.

Third, if you would like to talk about sales numbers, we have dedicated news threads on anime/manga/CD sales you can refer to instead.

Fourth, while it may be fun to troll each other, please don't do so to the point where you start actively insulting people.

Fifth, taste and quality aside, if you truly believe in your favorite titles, to which you would defend and exalt in the public realm, shouldn't you also speak and act in a way which garners the level of respect that you wish others would pay unto those same anime you love? Do you really need affirmation by numbers to prove that what you love is good or not?, or is this all a lukewarm attempt to try and get a rise out of other fan bases, poised in a fabricated, illusionary state of enmity? The most I can suggest is speak about your favorites to others as you'd want others to speak about yours, but if you would prefer to speak with hostility, please expect similar responses back.
