On the topic of whether this could have gotten treatment as a longer-form anime, I totally think it would be possible. They completely glossed over all the dungeons in the game, which had unique level designs and enemies. Perhaps I am alone in this opinion, but I think it could have easily been stretched into 12 regular episodes, or even a 24-episode double cour. They could have been much more faithful to the original storyline and content from the game, and kept much more action. It is, after all, based on an action-RPG! And we have seen from the success of Made in Abyss that pure-driven "Adventure" genre can stand up as being an exciting viewing experience. I wish they did more dungeon delving and intense fight scenes with monsters. It would have been awesome!
The clicheness over Lloyd personality made this series needed to extend its storylines. Yeah, i don't even know the real purposes of this series rather just a complete lost in the end. These two worlds conflict made everything changed by the appearance of Lloyd and his naives sense. In the mean time, every one needed to fool anyone and in the end just fooling around like a fuckin crazy NPC. Idk why suddenly Kratos became so weak by battling Yuan the rebel. And i don't even know the intentions of Sheena. Her justification was too little to considering her kind purposes. Atleast, her mission still completed, considering the failure of changed Collette had in the tower. Lol. What a shitty direction in that placed, knowing Lloyd, alone, could swipe that godly angelic creatures. Was that really happening? Idk. Its too cliche to consider it as a good story. Whatever. In the end, i must give a fair share of judgement toward my scoring style. This is my short scores for this little Introduction to the great serialization:
Story: Not wise enough to gave a fair amount of nice story telling. Its bland, and rushed so much like in hell with fast track as a flash. I couldn't even felt anything in the end, just to had a big question marked in their approaching. Was that really necessary? I guess, except the duration problem, it seems its not enough complimentary to judge the side mark, eh? Even some good moment in the end can not give much satisfaction. Was that really good? Whatever. As knowing this was only an Introduction, and believed another continuations appeared, i can't give a bad shit for this section. At the end, 6 scores shall be enough considering the amount of effort Ufotable had to wrap everything in 4 OVA
Art, animation, transition: The transition was a bad considering the arc jumped crazy on every seconds it had. The art, as the old animation production, i can't help but try to respect the hard work. Its same with the animation progressed. I might not be a master of this section. However, as my satisfaction gone in a well being by its attempt to make a better design, i give this series Introduction art departement a solid 9.
Soundtracks, VA, insertion: Like i said in the first commentary. Its quite catchy, and the changed at a previous episode gone well to make a satisfaction in the right position. VA and insertion of the battle felt good and right hit the spot. Considering i had no master skilled to gave another judgement, while knowing all of my comment pure as my personal satisfaction, i give this sounds departement as a solid 9. Thanks to the good soundtracks this show had, fortunately.
Characters: Oh well, this is hard. It had many contradiction with their characterization. And somehow everything turned out too fast like a trainwreck. I even can't forgive the clicheness Lloyd characterization had. Its horrible. In the end, the changed of their development gave me a bad impression over this sections. A 6 shall be enough.
Enjoyment: I couldn't help, but very attached and so intrigueing with these kind of games adaptation. I might not called this a great Introduction, the very good sign must be enough of this 4 miserable OVA. Yeah, 8 for my overall enjoyment.
Overall: While knowing how huge the storyline had, i might considering this serialization still had a shiny future of its show. So, i consider to give a mean rate to show respect over this adaptation. Yeah, i completely not wanting some big ranting. Considering every complain just blurted out in the story sections. So, i keep this simple: a mean rate of every sections.
6+9+9+6+8= 7.6+0.4 as my others tribute for the show.
Lol.
In the end, i still give a 8 for this. I am very generous and can't help by ignoring with pains that cute girl Collete felt. So, yeah, thats it.
Hide and seek is the best offline games on this fatamorgana-called-world-thing. Please comment nicely. I am newbie here.
Damn even though I never got to play this Tales game and could tell the story was rushed as, the ending still got me. Although, I think it would've been a more epic hero's journey if Lloyd fought Kratos and ended up beating/killing him (fulfilling his promise to become strong enough to protect everyone) then saving Colette before she loses everything and is normal again. But, then we wouldn't get to learn about the other world ppl and I'm guessing the eventual Lloyd vs Kratos fight (really hoping it happens or they do the plot twist thing and he betrays his organization and helps them fight whoever tf the final boss would be, then end up dying or living, both are good).
