Characters in Mirai Nikki having broken morals isn't a factor to it's overall quality, I don't really mind that. I guess that's the only thing I said here that's actually relevant to the thread...
But apart from that, to me at least, the show is just broken..

It's an absolute mess, but only Danganronpa does something similar to it so it gets a lot of points for me. That's a different discussion though.

Nah, not at all. But for some reason this particular set of characters really gets on my nerves.

It's all subjective but we can still discuss it.

I don't factor morality in how much I like characters. In fact, I want the authors to make me like a terrible person. Making a terrible person understandable is hard but fascinating.

Yeah I see what you're saying, but even supposing they are understandable doesn't change my stance towards them. It's simply a part of my nature that no matter how they're presented, they make me frown and even at times upset at their actions.

It's reasonable to call them terrible people, but not necessarily terrible characters. A character should be well-developed and interesting.

Of course, a character can be so immoral and cruel it stops being interesting and just becomes unpleasant.

Just pointing out right now that the post is literally about Humans and not characters, and I don't think any of my posts mentioned characterization. Sorry if I'm getting this wrong but I genuinely feel like you are presenting a point to me I never asked for or opened :/

Honestly, I think BTOOOM! and Deadman Wonderland are what you're looking for. I disliked them, but then again I'm not into what you asked for. Hopefully you'll enjoy them.

The only ones that come to mind are Shinsekai Yori and Barefoot Gen. I don't usually like shows that show humanity as evil, because they're often too preachy and gloomy for my taste.

And for Tokyo Ghoul and others: from the human point of view, it's believable to show aggression against or fear of carnivore. ^^"

They tend to be cliche.
I'm just sick of how so many anime have to rub, "humans are evil because they're greedy and destroy nature!" constantly.
I want to see more anime that portray humanity in a more optimistic light.

I'm gonna say most of time humanity deals with a non-human opponent. I know It's kinda general, but I can't help. Everytime I see this kind of plot, I get most of things I hate or makes me rolled my eyes like :

-Humanity F**** YEAH! where we, humans, can solved every problems on the entire universe by eradicating them in a graphical way. Because diplomacy, peace without weapons, compromises are for gay and cowards...(F*** TTGL....)
-Humans are good/great! Speeches where everybody forgets It has bad humans. The non-humans just underestimates us. But when some of them realize how much we're such a great race, they abandonned their own kind to join us and kill their owns. (It doesn't happen with humans for valable reasons)
-Mankind is the only species in the infinity of imagination who knows valors like courage, honor, friendship, imagination, etc. The others races know only everything bad, has a souless hive mind or something they deserve to be exterminated.

I feel It's nothing more than pure arrogance. Everything bad/violent we've done look forgiven or forgotten but we're vindictive with everything who oppose us.

After, It has often the "awesome monsters/beasts being killed by japanese good-looking pop idols (with sometimes giant weapons)" tropes I can't stand. I know "It's fantasy" but I still find a little girl/teenage dressing like for a cosplay party beating a huge godzilla-ish monster incredibly ridiculous (and hurts me...)

However, like with everything, It has some exceptions.

The 'realistic' ones that try to portray the opposing faction as other humans with feelings and shit while guilt tripping you are nothing but self hating nihilistic crap that try to appear as something 'deep' and 'intelligent'. Their conclusion is often meaningless hippie bullshit that's not even valid to the real world.
DeDeDe manga gave me cancer at how hard it tried.
