High School DxD, Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny, and Puni Puni Poemy are banned in New Zealand. Due to complaints, the Chobits manga actually got a classification in New Zealand: R13, meaning it is illegal to let anyone under 13 read it. One volume of Violence Jack is banned in Australia, as well as some hentai ("Darling", "Hooligan", "Spotlight", and "My Brother's Wife" were the ones I found in the database - I know My Brother's Wife at least got a censored release). One visual novel has been refused classification after found on a confiscated computer (Enzai). |

It's noticeable that hentai pictures or whole sites getting banned in Russia way more often than pages with similar Western content. Also, there were propositions to make all anime "18+" (R) rated, even kodomo ones. Russian government have special dislike for anime, as something that, in their opinion, should be completely alien for russians (but it's not, which irritates the government). It's possible that anime will be completely banned in Russia during next 10-15 years, if this country continue to make the new iron curtain, and the church will get more and more influence there. Western stuff will become banned too, but anime and manga tends to become the very first victim. Is that really happening in Russia? What a mess, they should just let people watch the Chinese cartoons they want I can confirm. It's as Vla has said - Russia is rolling down back to USSR, except without any communism, just totalitarism and dictatorship. We (the Russian anime fan community) don't really care much because we don't obey laws anyway, but it's happening. Well, compared to Ukraine, where all porn "except medical" (whatever it means) is illegal, Russia is still liberal. But I still want my government and legislature dead (preferably in a very painful way). If you remember me making strong anti-religion statements, this course of Russian government is a major reason. |

I don't know where it is entirely banned but in some places the censorship is way too high and ridiculous. Take any shounen like Naruto and censor all the blood, weapons. Or Sailor moon censor fiasco with showing Sailor Uranus and Neptune as cousins. |

Place where anime is completely banned. No none that I can think of. At most cases most countries will have a ban in place, but it will be a ban on general items of media that are classified as being illegal to be in possession of or importing. China of course as a banlist due to the content of certain anime. I am sure there are a few others who have banned some hentai series and anime. |

You're wrong, Ukrainian anti-porn laws isn't stricter than current Russian ones, and they don't work anyway, at least since 2009 (when this laws was enacted) wasn't any accidents except arrests of porn video sellers and the owners of porn studios. No one oppresses hentai or people who just downloadinguploading any porn, except if it's made by Ukrainian citizens with real actors, but even then, as I said earlier, it's extremely rare. Also, Ukrainian government isn't concerned about anime in any negative way. They don't care even about lolishota. Ukraine have anti-CP laws, but only the real child porn is persecuted. Some of conservative media or groups make anti-anime articles from time to time, mostly copying Russian ones, but they don't have an influence, and appear really rarely compared to Russia. There's even a huge liberal step was taken in 2014: abolishment of government's "moral department" which in 2012 was intended to ban many titles of anime and cartoons, but it was never realized, stayed only at mere words level, and no longer actual since the department no longer exists. I can't remember any of anime or manga titles banned in Ukraine. Any blocked sites too. So this country isn't in the list of ones which this topic is about. |

Yeah, Ukraine had a bad case of laws that didn't actually work. (I lack reliable sources on what's going on there now) |

Not banned, but turned into Islamic Anime kind of thingy when they dub it to Arabic. Some Arabic dubs are fine, but some are just so.. Islamic. What? How do they add Islam to anime? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67-njyKlwMk like das they add religion references, and mention Allah in the dub. I even once saw Conan saying "And the criminal cried when he heard a haidth by Prophet Muhammad. Oh boy @ the last one. Then again, a lot of Western dubs also change certain plot points. That's pretty insulting to the audience. |
