OP and ED were similar to last season's, so I already enjoy them. (^_^)
As for the art, I'll have to get used to it.

Seems like Tobe's gathering courage to ask Ebina.
Meanwhile, Hachiman's going for Saika, yet he can't take hints from Yui.
At least he got a cute moment with Yukino.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

I didn't get my Totsuka bath scene.

Joking aside(mostly), it was a pretty good start. It seems we left straight off from where we were before with our MC being the most hated guy and it looks like while there is still some disdain, he's definitely not the same loner as he used to be.

Anyways, not a LN reader, so I can't really complain about what's being skipped and what-not, but not bad. I'm digging the art too, there's a slight-change, but nothing to the point of making me pull my hair out.

Is Hachiman gay ? I mean, he basically faps when he sees Totsuka, but his only reaction to Yui getting closer to him is annoyance, I know he should be generally disinterested in everything and his banter with Yukino is just the way those two talk, but TBH the more he talks about Totsuka(in a rather creepy way) and the more he shows general dislike towards the two main heroins actually makes him look like he is a closed homosexual, and not just a person who is afraid of making friends.

Can someone recap season 1 for me? I watched this a long time ago, and I really don't feel like rewatching the whole thing. I recognize everyone though, except the blue long haired girl? Never seen her before I think....

The updated art style makes everyone's hair look messy. I suppose I'll get used to it, but I think the old style was better.

Yukino, still best girl. And she looked really pretty with her hair up at the end, even with (or because of) the new art style.

I like the OP and ED.

So the art is quite different from the season one because the producers changed, but it's still good.

The animation looked real plain. Guess they blew the budget on the musical number. Looking back at ep 13 of last season and the difference is night and day. This new version looks drab and half assed

The very first scene with the concert had really, REALLY horrible art. Urgh, it hurts my eyes.

Other than that, the story is still nice. I love all the characters, and it's been way too long since I've watched any Oregairu. I'm happy that it's back, even if the art is worse.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

A very soft episode.

The change of animation studio and art style bothered me when the second season was first announced, but it didn't bother me much in this episode at all. Feels like I'm already used to it~

Finally got to watch the HS version after it aired like 3 days later.

Thoughts...well the art is different. It especially feels weird to me since I re-marathoned the first season the week leading up to S2. As I posted in other discussion threads, I basically think both art styles are good, but it's a matter of tradeoffs.
- S1 = more unique art. had a less polished feel with quite a few derp faces drawn. character movements were sometimes awkward, but frequent (yui always jumping around and being excited, Hachiman always moving his arms while speaking and making weird faces. Shizuka and Yui had bigger plot.

- S2 = more polished and refined, but more generic. A lot more fluid. Minor character movements had a lot of detail (Hachiman sliding down the wall, and his clothes moved realistically). Seems a bit closer to the LN in some ways. Less character movements. Hachiman was like a statue. Yui and Shizuka lost their plot. Hachiman seems to talk less eccentrically now to match his more stoic character.

Aside from the art, like the new OP/ED.

I don't read the LNs, so people saying things were skipped and rushed are un-relatable to me.

As for just watching it, gotta say Hachiman really is good guy. Why? He did the right thing by putting that obnoxious selfish cunt in her place last season, and is now hated by everyone. Yet he took the high ground when dickhead Hayato and douche friend came to the club for help. He had zero reason to accept their request. He could've and should've told Hayato to go fuck off like Yukino did.

Idc if the Hachiman and Totsuka ship is a joke, I'd ship it. The only character who doesn't treat Hachiman like fucking dirt and then use him and their earliest convenience. I don't like yaoi, but I'd ship the hell out of that OTP.

So to sum up the discussion:
1. Too rushed - season 1 did 6 volumes in 12 episodes, this has the same pace.
2. Art style is bad - Different studio. At least it aint Liden
3. Borrowed sound effects - really......really.

Fuck anime fans are hard to please.

Hachiman's behavior towards Totsuka is a crucial part of his character, so listen up.
Hachiman is definitely not gay. Actually, he's drooling over Totsuka precisely because he is not gay.
Let's take a look at Hachiman's past. Countless times, he had gotten the wrong idea that a girl might like him, countless times, he had fallen for a girl, countless times, he had been rejected in a cruel manner. Especially the "getting the wrong idea" part played a big role in his "I hate nice girls" monologue in episode 5, season 1.
If Hachiman started thinking about a girl in that same fashion as he does about Totsuka, he'd fall in love with her, confess and get rejected. Then that girl will avoid him. Again, he would be hurt. It's a pattern he's experienced over and over. Whenever romance enters his life, things don't end well.
But this cannot happen with Totsuka. Totsuka is a guy. No matter how many times Hachiman will look at his cute figure, no matter how many times he fantasizes about him, he will not develop actual romantic interest towards Totsuka. Therefore, he won't confess. Therefore, he won't get rejected. Drooling over Totsuka is a safe option for Hachiman.

If you have any more questions about any part of the series, feel free to ask. Understanding what the characters are doing and why they're doing it is important in order to enjoy this series in full. And that's sometimes tricky to figure out, so ask away.

The art style is pretty bad, the MC's love for totsuka is played as a joke, cause the MC of all animes and stuff drool over the female characters, so he likes Totsuka more.

Well, time will show if it will be as ~decent-good as the first season.
I wonder what the new girl does, seriously.

Totsuka x Hikigaya is the true pairing of the series.

Jokes aside, decent start to one of my most anticipated series of the season. With episode 1 it's always too early to tell but I like the noticeable improvement in the animation quality from S1. Whether this season matches up to S1 remains to be seen but I expect it to be another interesting ride with Hikigaya and co.

First episode was okay. Not great, but serviceable, though it felt like it skipped some important parts that would have made the episode cohesive. Nice visual upgrade in terms of the character designs and smoothness in animation. But the lighting is too bright, which somehow tones down the supposed greyish atmosphere in Hachiman's life. But there's a great chance the anime will make use of proper lighting in the next episodes. Who knows? I have great expectations for the show.

Having never read the LN, I would say this was a good first episode for me. Although the LN readers say that a lot of content was skipped, what was shown did not feel rushed. The pacing was nice. It also did a great job in capturing and reminding as the essence of this show, the characters and their relationships. The character interactions in this episode immediately reminded me why I love this show so much.

Personally, 3D animation has never been much of a problem for me. In fact, I will go forward and say that I prefer this art style more than season 1's.

What really surprised me was the music. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was spot on for every scene and illustrates the tone of each scene really well.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Oh ... so they changed the studio. Now it makes a little more sense.

However, I'll still be annoyed by the fact they got both Yukinon's and Yui's size wrong though. Yui's supposed to be bigger than that, and Yukinon's ... flatter than that. Now it looks like they're both at the same size! (._. )

Oh well. There's nothing we can do, right? (._. )

Wait...I just realised that only 10 volumes are published yet. That means season 1 covered 6 volumes in 12 episodes and Season 2 will cover 4 volumes in hopefully the same or a bit more episodes. Then Studio Feel wouldn't have to rush! If that happens and they adapt the light novel beautifully...this is going to be absolutely amazing.

Yup, it sure is promising. But hopefully they stay away from volume 10 and adapt volume 6.5 instead. Adapting vol 10 would leave us on an unbearable cliffhanger and probably no season 3.
