Serhiyko said: lanblade said: Just Japanese documents that said he made it. What Japanese documents? Is the name of the anime written on them? Can you give a link? This book http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4816920358/ lists the two with that dot title difference. Which in turn is what's aggregated and sourced on Japanese database sites like japanese-cinema-db.jp and animationscc.wiki.fc2.com. In 1937 Kenzou established his film studio so it doesn't seem that off that he'd remake the classic story without Masao's involvement since Masao was the director and designer of the 1936 one so Kenzou didn't get to take the lead. |

I myself can't contest the online information since that same online information provided details for hundreds of other anime series. Blinding trusting it is the only thing we can really do since so many Japanese sites say two versions exist. |

| Question, is the "アニタス神戸賞" a worthy award? I saw this in the new section: http://myanimelist.net/anime/30046/Hadashi_Neko and it won that award for the 16th Animation Kobe event But looking at the other 'awards' for Original Animation http://www.anime-kobe.jp/public_offering/original_anime.html they have stuff like Comedy Action Award and http://www.anime-kobe.jp/archive/2013/digitalcreators/ Scary and Cute Award. IDK it feels like awards for the sake of having minor awards to give independent animation submissions. IMO, I would consider the 最優秀賞 (Highest Award) the only one worthy to pluck an anime out of doujinshi status. Thoughts? |

| On the topic of http://myanimelist.net/anime/22401/ the image it has right now comes from this youtube upload https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzGU_iUMBi8 (sorry, I know it's not a official upload) This has to be from some other Saru Kani Gassen creation. Notice how "Shin" is not in the title card 新. And if you watch the animation it's very rough, way behind 'technologically' from Kenzo's work in the late 30's like Benkei tai Ushiwaka from the same year or Suzume no Oyado from the year before. The way the characters move looks like 20's anime from the 4 disk Japanese Anime Classic Collection DVD set. But I have no idea who made it, the smaller text is blurry as hell besides that katakana オリエント. What a curve ball! From the youtube comments it's assumed the film was made post-1922 as that's when the Pathé Baby film system was invented. What a mystery. |

Serhiyko said: lanblade, I actually think the original one is called 猿蟹合戦, based on what Allcinema says. Then Kenzou Masoka made new one, hence 新, which means "new" It could possibly be, but it does contradict the other sites though. But it still may be the one that's actually correct. But it's a whole lot of stuff up in the air because nobody has that book on hand to make it 100% sure it's X instead of Y. It's all guesses from Japanese sites, I just went for the one that was talked about it the most across the board from googling it/had the most google results. |

First is のらくろ二等兵 教練の巻 which is Norakuro Nitouhei: Kyouren no Maki. Second (sequel) is のらくろ二等兵 演習の巻 which is Norakuro Nitouhei: Enshuu no Maki. When the episode started there was a title card that just said is のらくろ二等兵. Then it shows the credits. And then another title card with のらくろ二等兵 教練の巻, played the 5 min. bit, blacked out real quick, another title card came up with のらくろ二等兵 演習の巻, played the other 5 min. bit and then had a “The End”card. I believe these two DB entries should be combined since the source lists them as 1 episode and the way it’s structured when watched feels like 1 episode. That makes the English title Private 2nd Class Norakuro just like it’s listed in the source. のらくろ二等兵 would be the Japanese title. The source lists the Romanization as Norakuro Nitohei: Kyoren no Maki/Enshu no Maki So maybe the Japanese title should be のらくろ二等兵 教練の巻/演習の巻? The title card for the first half with them doing the marches is 教練の巻 The subtitles clearly say "The Training". The VA doesn't say anything besides his name. But my dictionary says "教練" (kyouren) means "drill". Now at the end of the episode after Norakuro messed up the Commander says this to him Which indicates 'the drill' is next and 'enshuu' is actually said by the VA . Then the title card comes up With 演習の巻 as the kanji which my dictionary says is 'exercise' and 'practice' and 'maneuvers' and 'seminars'. Norakuro is talking and subtitles say it's going to be about 'the drill' once again and he as well says 'enshuu'. Once he stops the title card's subtitles comes up like with the first title card. And the episode finishes out with them doing the war game with tanks. So I'm confused as hell. The words are synonyms of each other. I cannot figure out if the subs were mixed up (I mean hey, they didn't care for macrons) or if in the 1930's that's what the words meant but have since changed. Dojourei said: http://myanimelist.net/anime/10779/Eroge!_H_mo_Game_mo_Kaihatsu_Zanmai I think this anime has finished airing but it is still marked as "airing". Not sure if I'm correct though. From the guidelines "OVA & ONA will be set to finished after 18 months of inactivity (i.e.: no new information or releases). If a new episode is subsequently released, the entry will be re-opened." It has only been 8 months since the last episode came out. In December it can be set to finished. |
