| Anime and Japanese culture in general is weird as fuck. I will admit that you find a lot more weird nasty shit coming from Japan more than anywhere else. And im a pretty open minded kind of guy when it comes to morals/social norms. Anime is superior to basically all similar western media however. Western media is just so much more watered down and simple. You dont see Asians gawking over american shows like we do over anime. | I feel like some of what you are trying to say is right, but your examples are poor lol. Like you shouldnt compare Family guy a show for adults to your standard anime that's usually made for kids-teens. Both cultures are definitely obsessed with the idea of youth, theres no doubt about it, but from what I've seen and heard, Japan is way more brazen about it. Toddler in tiaras is bad, but in japan they'll sell like calendars of 8-yr-olds in swimsuits in suggestive positions. |

| In general, anime are more twisted that american stuff imo. If by american stuff we are including movies too, I believe most twisted films are produced in Europe. Perfect examples are A Serbian Film and Human Centipede. In terms of animated series, yes there may be some wrong stuff in american series but anime in general are way more twisted. Not all of them of course, since there are plenty good ones, but if you take into account all the sick loli stuff and hentai with tentacles, I believe anime have the edge over american animated shows. |

And of course some americans say animes are perverted and weird, since it's a different culture. What can be seen as a normal romance anime in Japan can be viewed as weird and disgusting in America/USA. Also, americans (talking about the media/politicans) don't like judging themselves, only others. |

| No, just a difference of perspective. American's (and UK'ers to a slightly lesser extent) predominately get bent out of shape over sexual consent whereas most of the rest of the world (I'm unsure about S. America) tends to be more concerned with violence than sex (Australians hate everything if their approach to video game ratings are any indication). As this thread is showing, very few people will complain about the excessive gore and violence that can be found in some anime (as a matter of fact, those tend to be the most popular animes on these types of forums) and instead mostly complain about shows with fanservice/ecchi content. |
