RyanSaotome said: Female oriented anime have far bigger event ticket drops than male shows. This is not a female oriented show, or atleast we don't know how big its female audience is. I think, at best, it has a split gender fanbase. Its BD/DVD ratio is far from equal, and it will get even less equal starting with v2(1k point drop in the DVD estimate, but no drop in the BD estimate). Not to mention how female targeted shows are also known for having a storefront effect. Just accept we don't know how much it'll drop yet. Black butler, which we acteally know is a female oriented show, also did not really have a huge event ticket drop(22% from v1wk1). So it really is to early to tell how big it'll be, |

Super happy for Nozaki-Kun! Great show that deserves a second season. I really wish Barakamon would sell more tho - i mean 5.7k is not that bad, but ugh, it deserves way more - this way we might not see S2, sigh. |

Hanayamata failed to sell, it's the tragedy of the season. Barakamon fared better but didn't hit 6000 just yet, it needs 6000 as merchandise isn't plentiful (if any even exists). |

Also he never said it was going to be as good as Gundam, one of the A-1 guys did. Seriously the lack of awareness from some of the fans of this show is shocking. It's kind of MAL, like what do you expect. The fact that people think a show that had all the hype in the world and every advantage this summer with it's staff being the 5th or 6th best seller (and these results are for all the Urobuchi episodes incidentally) means it's doing great and they should watch it also says a lot to me. People just make up these ideas inside their own head, I mean to me MAL is like exactly the kind of community that sort of hyping is targeted at and about the only one that would believe all the claims they made yet the market is Japan so I still don't really get what they were thinking. All that hype and advertising seems like such a waste in retrospect just to get a mecha show that can't even cross the 10,000 line in it's first week. Still MAL thinks that's a brilliant and bold move that totally paid off, but again I just keep telling myself it's MAL, what're you gonna do. mac9955 said: He wrote entire outline for the series, and then another author did slight tweaks but tried to stay true to Urobutchers original vision. Read the interviews, Aoki even admits they didn't and is actually very forthcoming on the things that got changed from the original draft like a fair bit of characterization that was lost in order to make Inaho seem more cool and stoic to viewers and Slaine actually doing things and taking more effective action in the original script. They even changed things like who took the last shot on the rocket punch mech from Marito to Rayet and the way the cour ended was originally totally different with Inaho and Asseylum becoming more romantically involved(remember they gutted characterization for him and Urobuchi even said the character he created is different from the blank faced Inaho we got, there's even available line art on the internet showing him smiling and emoting among other things) and Slaine ending up coming to take her back with him as a twist. |

I would imagine anybody would be disappointed when they went through all this planning for like 3 years to assemble this super team they were extremely proud of if you read the early interviews about the show from a year ago and an advertising blitzkrieg only to end up with yet another show that's a modest seller at best. It's just a waste of advertising for very little gain and having people essentially come to realize just how full of shit you are. I mean they even released the show in Summer with next to no real competition in terms of blockbusters and hyped shows and it's still middling numbers. Hopefully more people start to take notice of the empty promises in any case....I mean the people that would be likely to notice so MAL is exempt. |

Good for zankakyou, it was terrible. Aldnoah has what it deserves: an overhyped mediocre (it's not THAT bad, n easy 6/7 out of 10, but the mecha parts was really terrible) show with edgy cliffhanger that the nowadays audience loves. I'm really happy for nozaki-kun. A little bit sorry for barakamon, after the sales of show like non non biyori I expected at least the double, it deserves it. |

Saying all this stupid shit increased sales. Who cares if it was all bullshit? That's the job of a promoter. Monetarily, it's smart to say idiotic things to get people hyped up. And 8,000 is very good, sure, not the best thing in the world, but very good nonetheless. To put it into perspective, it did roughly the same as Kill La Kill, which also had an awesome team working on it. What are they supposed to say in interviews? "Yeah we are really excited for this project to be 2nd place to Gundam". Might as well say something batshit crazy. If they didn't hype it up like they did, I'd say it would've been lucky to break 5,000 it's first time out. Obviously there's no way to know how much it helped, because we can't go back and take all the hype out. But I'm sure it didn't decrease sales. |

Main girl, her friend and a "trap" are the only girls... and the trap might as well be a guy. It would be like saying some girly male trap in another show makes it gender balanced, when its only a female character thats called male. Essentially its 2 girls and 5 characters who look like guys. |

Yeah, but male otaku can't enjoy sports, because nerds on mal don't enjoy sports. Sports are for girls obviously. |

It came from Shounen Jump itself, about a year and half ago. I saw it at that time. SolviteSekai said: And example of Kuroko's fujoshi fan service. I couldn't see the pic but if you're asking for stuff like boys blushing or making out, I don't have them. But the manga and anime DOES give a lot of importance to bonds between the male characters which is friendship. But, this is enough for fujoshi. This kind of friendship and the bonds and communication between the characters is enough. If you want more of an explanation, I suggest you read the first chapter of shoujo manga Watashi ga Motete Dousunda, in which a fujoshi is a protagonist, not to mention the manga is written by a BL mangaka. |

The pic is two girls kissing. Like I said, anyone who thinks Haikyuu is fujoshi bait never saw it. There is no male fan service in it. And as far as Nozaki-kun goes, anyone calling it a female oriented anime clearly only looked at the character designs. I bet most of you don't even know that the prince girl is a girl. And finally, theres a difference between saying fujoshi like Haikyuu, and saying it is MAINLY females purchasing it. You dont see the difference? |
