They probably won't care much about you unless you act like a douche. It's like that everywhere, so why would it be different in Japan? And I doubt they hate on tourists much. Now if you're living there and taking their jobs then the attitude might be different... but that applies to everywhere else as well.

You do, one white guy gets and the train and starts speaking loudly with his bro. I almost wanted to throw one of them out the window.

Depends on their country of origin. Americans, Italians, Dutch and Spaniards talk loud as fuck, from my experience. While Scandinavians tend to be more discreet.

A tourist made fun of my English a week ago in Akihabara... I don't think Japanese people are more accepting if you like anime, probably the opposite since otakus are severely looked down upon. They're accepting if you study the culture a little and actually put effort into behaving in Japan, same with any country I suppose.

Anime isn't even mainstream in Japan except for the one that's mainstream in the rest of the world like DBZ and such. So it's not surprising that some Japanese peopel might not like their country being associated with it, especially with harem anime and hentai.

Yea, I can't blame them. Often when I go past Akihabara, there's usually at least one otaku with a towel around his neck, wiping the sweat of his face every so often. It's not the greatest sight to see, to say the least. Also, walking through akihabara there is some very strange stuff. For example, I recently saw a man with an advertising poster, which featured a fully naked anime girl that had very little censorship, and he was casually advertising it on one of the main paths of Akiba. If people see that, what else can they think of the anime culture... W

From experience as an American studying abroad in Japan, people tend to be quite accepting of foreigners, but the majority will keep their distance.

Younger people tend to be quite interested (I've heard of racism from much older generations, but I've never run into any), and I get people walking up to me and randomly talking to me and asking for pictures (a big part of that is that I apparently look like John Lennon though). People tend to be very interested in why you are interested in Japan. If you talk about anime and such, the majority of people that are college age or younger will have some knowledge, but it tends to be limited to stuff like One Piece, Naruto, Shingeki no Kyojin, etc.

The biggest thing being a foreigner in Japan is that people expect that you are completely ignorant of Japanese culture and thus tend to be much more forgiving if you make some sort of mistake. If you know any amount of Japanese people will be amazed at how good your Japanese is even if it is terrible. Some people will get annoyed if you can't speak Japanese or have little cultural knowledge for obvious reasons.

In general, I have nothing but good things to say about the people I met in Japan.

If anyone is curious about areas, I've spend the majority of my time around Nagoya/Aichi, but I've also been to Kanazawa, Ibaraki, Iwate, Gifu, Mie, Kyoto, Yokohama, Tokyo, and Osaka. Osaka tends to have a bit of a different atmosphere compared to other places in Japan (I've heard they are less friendly to foreigners, but I didn't really have any negative experiences nor positive experiences in general). Outside of Tokyo, there is much less support for English speakers though.

I know several Japanese folk, and most of them are very amicable and easy to get along with. It's China and Korea I have a problem with. Most of my experience talking with people who lived in either of those countries for most of their lives were assholes.

In my opinion , I would like to communicate with them .
But I wonder they are willing to talk with us or not.
For example, In my university , there are many exchange students from America or European countries , but they are always doing everything with same country friends. I hardly see them taking with Japanese.
I wonder they avoid taking us or not. So I'm not sure I could talk with them.
