It's been fantastic so far, this show is really unique, yet has a certain atmosphere to it that bares similarilies to Jason Bourne. Let's hope they keep it that way!

Fantastic scenario/concept, fantastic characters/romance, fantastic contemporary/SF background, fantastic animation/direction, and obviously fantastic music/OP/ED. How good can this series be honestly? That's been so long since I wanted to see the next episode of a show so much (Gankutsuou 4 or 5 years ago maybe?) It's already bothering me that there are only 11 episodes planned...

Apart from that, it's very Kamiyama-like that all Akira remembers are movies ;) And I guess this intriguing character must be related to (or even the author of) the terrorists attacks, seeing that he purposedly wiped out his memeories, he must have had a valid reason to do so, or he must have done something truly horrible.

In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

I'm really impressed with how well they're balancing the mysterious plot and the slice-of-life sides. It's being blended very well. The boat scene was amazingly done. Selecao IV looks like he's broke as hell.

On a side note, has anyone here read East of Eden? I was wondering if the text in the OP is excerpts from that, or if anyone is familiar with what that's from?

Bang! and at the end. This is full of stuff like this.

Pretty good episode. Things will pick up next episode I guess.

The direction, I think, is perfect though. I can't find much I dislike about this asides from if they go to the girl's sisters house and Akira must use a shotgun to kill his pursuer. That would be weird.

But, that isn't going to happen...(hopefully).

I really like the lighter mood too. There isn't any self-pity and I like that a lot.

That was pure brilliance. I'm loving Akira and Saki and all the little things that go on between them. Saki's faces are too cute. Juiz is pretty overpowered, and I'll have to admit I kind of laughed at the "Bang". Really curious about Akira's "IX" history now. This company or agency, whatever the hell it is is severely screwed in the head, or at least "IV" is - not everyone is pursuing justice anymore. Really wanna know what he meant by taking over Akira's duties.

Damn, that was awesome.

#2 watch. Notice some things me find interesting but with no subs not sure all understand point me want to show.

This made me research Juiz and "Noblesse Oblige". Found out "Noblesse Oblige" come from French and mean in English Nobility obligation+Juiz refered to herself as concierge that make anything happen. That made me think it would fun to get rid of problems in world with no consequence and those people=GOD like power?

This is the kind of anime I have been looking for...one that is mysterious, but also cute. The mystery has captured me, and now I cannot wait to see the next episode. I love it...and this episode was better then the first. I liked best the moments the girl got on the boat and when the picture was taken. ^_^ There is definitely a lot going on here in the storyline that we will probably eventually and slowly learn...and that's something I'm looking forward to because it keeps me interested.

Interesting. Doesn't make sense to me how there could be no casualties on careless Monday.

I've been wondering exactly the same thing. How can a nation get bombed with ten missiles on one day - several of which land in the middle of a city - and not have a single casualty?

Also, I can't recall if they ever explicitly mentioned the year the show takes place, but I'm guessing it's 2011 based on Saki's date of birth, and it being ten years after 9/11.

They don't have to mention the year. They showed enough close ups of the phones, that you can see it is indeed 2011.

About the casualties, I'm sure there were injured people. It's too ridiculous if there are none. Saki was only saying that there were no deaths before. At least, that's how I understood it.

I think that the fact that there were no casualties is supposed to be the mystery about it. The emphasis is not that there were missile strikes, but that nobody (which does seem really, really fishy) was hurt.

Awesome characters still, just like in Ep1. Anyway they're gonna have a lot of explaining to do in the remaining 9 episodes! If they also want to squeeze soem sort of awesome story into it, like they're suggesting with this episode two here! Very much looking forward to more. 5/5.

This show continues to be really, really good -- the best of the season for me. Interesting developments with police officer character (more mysteries about Juiz), a bit of development for Saki, and some really cute moments along with the intrigue. Gah, I can hardly wait for the 3rd episode *_*

I was really impressed with how realistically the background moved when they were on the boat; it made me feel like I was right there with them.

Come to think of it, Akira looks like he's "bang!"ing the missiles in the ED...

Nice episode really starting to get hooked on this series. Still lots of things left unknown but a lot of things where explained as well. Juiz seems pretty crazy making anything happen at a moments notice. I dunno if anyone else noticed that every time one of the messiah's uses Juiz the money in their account goes down like it cost the detective 1.5 million yen to kill those three people. Looking forward to the next episode!

Definetly more interesting than the last episode, though, i wish it could focus more on those atacks, would make it more interesting than it already is -in my opinion-. I hate the fact that all the characters have that shadow on their nose, actually it bothers me, hell dunno why but it does. So we are having a romance development between Akira and Saki (obviusly predicted from the first episode) wich is not a bad idea, it gives that spicy touch to the series. Anyway so Akira is remembering who he was before his memory got ereased, well... i hope they explain why he erased them by himself. The ambience was really great, that background when they were on the boat was fucking awesome.

And... no casualities from those atacks? 11 misiles and still? Thats definetly ridiculous.

So to Akira again... he may be sorta like a special department from the goverment instead of being a terrorist. The police just said it by himself; and Juiz said it also... something like "Continue being a savior to the people".

Anyway looking forward for the 3rd episode.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like this show is like Paycheck with Ben Affleck than it is The Bourne Identity. Akira purposefully erased his memories possibly because he knew something terrible, and the only way he could slow things down was if he didn't know something in particular. That's very similar to Paycheck, and not the Bourne Series, which was about some guy who was a government tool and lost his memory after a botched assignment.

But it doesn't really change the fact that there were a lot of references to Bourne in this show.

Much like the first episode, this one was extremely compelling, and makes me anxious to see the next one. The buildup--everything starts out as a complete mystery, and things are gradually revealed with each episode--is just perfect so far.

I love the interaction between Akira and Saki, and all the cute little details the animators put in between them. Their chemistry reminds me a bit of Horo and Lawrence, albeit with the genders swapped.

Haven't seen an anime this quality since IGPX! Loving Oasis in the OP too. There's eleven missles, but twelve messiahs. I'm thinking that Takizawa's memory and particularly his mother's words about money are important to understanding the whole 8.2 Billion dollar messiah thing.

So essentially this organization has 12 "messiahs" who are given a "duty" that they must perform. This organization does anything that the messiah requests in order to make the messiah's duty easier. However it costs money. Apparently there is no wrong or right way to use your power as a messiah.

My guess is Takizawa did something messed up in the past or something happened to him. So bad that he ordered the organization to wipe his memories.

Things that are not clear yet.
1) What happens when a "messiah" runs out of money? The detective looked like he only had 7,034 yen left.
2) What cant they use their money on and what are the rules of this game.
3) What's the significance of all this religious talk? Clearly you wouldn't hear or see the FBI, CIA, or NSA going all religious and start calling their operatives messiahs lol.
4) Was the cause of the Monday missile attack on Japan the work of a member of the organization? If so what was the purpose of wasting money on a missile attack?
5) What are the requirements in becoming a member of the organization? Is there an age limit, do you have to be related to a member? Are they test tube babies..etc?
6) How much authority and influence does the organization have?
Apparently a lot since they can have a Japanese cop come and snipe random people or have a airport manager come and escort you around lol.

Mind if me try to answer some questions....some might be assume type

1) What happens when a "messiah" runs out of money? The detective looked like he only had 7,034 yen left. That I am not sure but looks bad because detective with previous post me make look like he wanted to take #9 duty to get his money? So it might be bad.
2) What cant they use their money on and what are the rules of this game.To me they use on anything it looks like but it look like each service cost something like when detective-san killed those people....he got billed.
3) What's the significance of all this religious talk? Clearly you wouldn't hear or see the FBI, CIA, or NSA going all religious and start calling their operatives messiahs lol.Has something to do with religion power like Masons that have all power like killing anyone...just me thinking something like that
4) Was the cause of the Monday missile attack on Japan the work of a member of the organization? If so what was the purpose of wasting money on a missile attack?no idea
5) What are the requirements in becoming a member of the organization? Is there an age limit, do you have to be related to a member? Are they test tube babies..etc? It look like it is connected with the missile (11 of them there are so far). Maybe people who have something to do with missile attack? Something like clearing their sins.
6) How much authority and influence does the organization have? Apparently a lot since they can have a Japanese cop come and snipe random people or have a airport manager come and escort you around lol.
A lot if they kill anyone ordered as long as money there

This is quickly becoming my favorite show this season, with the only real competition being Basquash. The entire boat scene was wonderfully crafted, all of it leading up to the photo that really helped me realize what the show is aiming for in terms of theme. The show continues to deliver wonderful humor, and the character of Number IV seems really intriguing. Animation's not as fluid this episode, but it still looks better than most stuff out there. Great all around. I love it.
