Personally, I believe that KILL la KILL may finish off strong, and with a score as high as 8.6 if everything goes perfectly in this second half as it has until now. (EP 18)
that i can pretty much gurantee wont happen, to get around that score you need to have a lot of 10's and for the 9's to drastically outweigh the 8's, it looks like this
http://i.imgur.com/iqFgNgJ.jpg

it may crack the 150's but i doubt itll get any higher than that, just about every series in the top 100 with some very rare exceptions are rated high from the get go and are usually long or sequels, shinsekai and steins are the only 2 shows that really seem to be exceptions and even then shinsekai barely made it into the top 100, but steins did jump....alot

Goddamn. You're amazing.

Just like Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill was created by a genius. Combining perverted elements with action and an amazingly composed story. I applaud to the brilliance and creativity of this anime and definitely think I will not get enough of this.

Wait... If Ryuko and Satsuki are sisters, then shouldn't there be a five year age difference between the two? Then how can they both be of High School age? Did I miss something that I'm too lazy to look up?

And is it me, or does that husband of Ragyo's look familiar?

Satuki is 18 and Ryuko is 17. It was stated in the flashback that Satsuki was 1 year older than her sister.

OMG. Plot twist after plot twist. My whole life is a lie after watching these like past 3 episodes.

Just when you think the show couldn't get any better and there couldn't be any more mind fucks...next Thursday rolls around and changes that.

So if Ragyo is 100% Ryuko's mother, that means that Suichiro is her father...now is there going to be a plot twist where it turns out Suichiro is actually Dr. Matoi after he defected from Ragyo? Or did Dr. Matoi just find her as a dumpster baby? Only the time of future plot twists will tell!

I understand scores on MAL can largely not be trusted, but how is KILL la KILL still only at 8.05 after this?

This episode was only worth a .01+ in score?

REALLY?

Because many people will score it a 1 out of spite or ignorance, and those that give it a decent score don't want to score it to high so it surpasses the elitist anime that are 2deep4 u.

Even now going through the comments, there are still many people afraid to give it praise or put it on the level of other anime that is already highly praised by the community.
As a still relatively newcomer to the anime society and having seen a lot of the highest rated anime, I can easily and honestly say that so far KlK is one of the best I've seen, and deserves to hang out with the big boys. It has easily shot up to the top anticipated show on my list, above long runners like One Piece and HxH I've being following for a longer time.

Looks like the only way to kill Ragyo is getting the other half of the scissor blade frome Nui and completely severing her head. Also so many predictions I made that I eventually gave up on turnded out to be true. This series always keeps me guessing and I love that.

What a great episode! 30 minutes just flew by.

I was kind of disappointed in Nui though. She didn't put up as good of a fight this time around. But I definitely saw that twist between Satsuki and Ryuko a mile away, so I wasn't too surprised.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see if the rest of this second half is as amazing as the last 3 episodes. If it is, it's very possible that KILL la KILL could pull a Steins;Gate, and end up in the top 100 or even 50 on MAL/HB.

But again, for that, well just have to see.

There are also the people who get their undies in a bind over "fanservice" and who give it a 1

There are also the people who did not like the art style and who gave it a 1

There are also the people who did not like the "red-blooded" style of KlK and who gave it a 1

In short, there is an almost infinite number of idiots who cannot put their preconceived notions behind them, and instead have to state their ignorant (in the sense they haven't watched more than a single episode) opinion.

Satsuki's in war with her outfit though... She hasn't truly become one with it like the mom said.. She has no shame wearing it but rejects it.. Her father told her that when she wore it she would be enslaved to clothing and she doesn't want that..

Ryukko fully embraces senkestu.. They have a personal relationship and are close.. She doesn't see senkestu as a being whom would enslave her.. Also she is completely made with life fibers so they probably have a better synchronization

Damnit, should have seen it coming as soon as Ragyou's second child was mentioned. Wonder if that makes Matoi Isshin and Kiryuuin Souichirou the same person...

Oh, and all the RyuukoxSatsuki fanart is now retroactively incest lol

Yesss, that's what I'm wondering! Okay, if everybody doesn't mind I'm going to spill all of my questions/thoughts right here. Okay. So.

How did baby Ryuuko survive the fall down the chute when she had failed as Ragyo's experiment? Even though it appeared to them that she couldn't sync with the Life Fibers, she obviously did, and her heart stopped. Wait. I might have just answered my own question right now.

Kiryuuin Soichiro faked his death, then changed his name to Matoi Isshin, and then locked himself away in his little basement lab after managing to pick up his not-so-dead baby daughter from the trash dump. Orrrr, maybe Soichiro and Isshin are two separate people after all, because I just can't fathom Soichiro abandoning Satsuki to fend for herself.

Sure, Soichiro had sort of 'assigned' her a mission that would occupy the next 13 years of her life. But, at the same time, since Isshin/Soichiro had created Kamui Senketsu for Ryuuko, he proobably wanted her to take part in saving the world as well. So, maybe Soichiro would have brought the two sisters together (assuming that Soichiro and Isshin are the same person).

Oh, but if Isshin/Soichiro was to either sneak young Satsuki into the same boarding school as Ryuuko, Satsuki's disappearance would create a huge uproar, and the same would probably happen if he let Ragyo take possession of her succeeded experiment. Okay, I'm confusing myself again.

But hey, I'm actually quite happy to know that Satsuki and Ryuuko are sisters (´▽`*) They'd be the most macho and aggressive sisters in the world. Getting happy feels just picturing Ryuuko and Satsuki giving each other that piercing smirk that fits both of them so well.

"You will pay for taking the lives of my father, Soichiro Kiryuin, and my baby sister who was never given a name!" -Kiryuin Satsuki indirectly avenging Ryuuko's unfortunate past, ep. 18

I honestly don't think this could happen, simply because Kill la Kill is an anime that is almost a love it or hate it affair. Unfortunately even if the finale turns out to be brilliant it's going to be sorely underrated especially from viewers who drop the anime in the first few episodes and give it a 1-4 score. Trust me, there's a lot of these people.

Thing is, Steins;Gate was a sub-8-rated show for much of its first half, and only reached 9 at the end. Steins;Gate felt much slower than KILL la KILL for its first half. Even so, people stuck around, were amazed, and eventually it ended up as one of the best shows to come out in a long time. It wasn't always great.

I want to see KILL la KILL do that. I understand its first half wasn't what we expected, but I want its second half to be so amazing, so utterly stupendous, that it's worth watching from beginning to end. So great that people slog through the "merely good" first half and fall in love with the amazing second half.

Judging from these past 3 episodes alone, we may just be in for such a treat. If TRIGGER keeps this up, and escalates the plot with more plot twists and red herrings like this... There's no doubt in my mind that this show will reach the level of Steins;Gate or higher. (The Tsumugu/Kinue family red herring alone was amazingly well done.)

Um... both shows are 24 episodes long. But while Steins;Gate turned around at the halfway point where 2 cours is concerned, this show wants to reinvent what everyone considers to be half of 24 by turning around at episode 16.

Also I like how you and the other guys ignore the fact that this show may not get a high scoreon MAL because there are a lot of people (myself included) who were bored for most of its run and therefore don't think the story justifies a high score.

It gets high scores everywhere else, though, even when the animation is crappy (it adds to the comedy).

I thought you said you'd only come back if the new episode was good and for the finale?

Anyway, to answer you - that's exactly what happened with Steins;Gate. It was boring for the first half; more so than KILL la KILL. It turned itself around with its second half and got 10's from many - leading to a 9+ score.

The length of the second half doesn't matter. It's what happens in it. I trust TRIGGER with this. That's all I'll say for now.

About the episode:

3, 7, 15, 16 and now 18 - The best episodes of this show.

1. Hahaha, Nui got a little scared there.

2. Ragyo's hairstyle in the flashback was pretty funky and cool lol Also her clownish get-up looked pretty fucking awesome this ep for some reason. And those horns when she synchronized with Junketsu. Also wtf old lady in a sailor uniform. Ew!

3. We get to see papa Kiryuin at last. So he WAS a doormat after all (married into the family and letting his wife experiment on their children).

4. The way Satsuki reacted to Ryuuko when Ragyo had her bound by the thread: Satsuki had a feeling Ryuuko was her sister, didn't she?

4.1 I'm basing this off her words in episode 2 where she smirks about the "Matoi" in Ryuuko's name. If papa Kiryuin told her everything (the experiments, the Kamuis etc) he probably told her about a scientist called Matoi Isshin. All Satsuki had to do was connect the dots. And Ryuuko showing up in a kamui probably helped things along a great deal. Hence how protective she's been of Ryuuko over the course of the show. What a sweet anee.

4.2 Think about it: she didn't start letting Ryuuko run wild until the beginning of episode 2. In the previous episode, Ryuuko was nothing more than a disturbance with something pretty valuable to Satsuki's ambitions. Since the scissor blade was pretty important to her goals, being able to sever life fibers and all, Satsuki would've wanted to pry it from Ryuuko's cold dead hands. So why didn't she? The name "Matoi" stopped her, I'm guessing.

4.3 Despite the fact that Satsuki mentioned avenging her dead little sister I shall still "call it" now: Satsuki suspected.

5. Entravity is excited! You KNOW this was a good episode. Guy's got a keen eye and really points your attention to things you normally don't notice/think about (he doesn't reach, either). Entravity.com FTW!

A superior episode. Hope for more of the same (though I may be bored next week not being a fan of the elite 4).
