| Amazing adaptation of the manga, and it was absolutely hilarious. It's only the first episode, and the pacing was perfect for the type of comedic anime it sets itself out to be. Also, I absolutely loved all of the anime/manga references. Hope to see more kimo ota reactions out of her, and I absolutely love the relationship that the siblings had with one another. It's definitely sweet, but not extremely lovey dovey. Overall, great introduction to the rest of the series. Opening and ending theme songs were also gold and both fit the theme of the series. Literally, I don't think I have too much to complain about at all. The art attempted to make Tomoko seem more ugly, but I couldn't help but think her antics were absolutely irresistible. I wanted to go talk to her myself. lol. Also, the voice acting was as amazing as I expected from Kitta Izumi. |

| This turned out to be far more enjoyable than I thought. It's refreshing how the loner protagonist this time is a girl. This has all the right recipe for a successful comedy. |

| Definitely my fav so far this season. Tomoko is quite relatable, since she seems to have social anxiety disorder,(or something similar) which I have as well. Even her hair is somewhat similar to how mine was in HS, with the long messy one eye mostly covered look lol (I'm sure glad it's not that way anymore). I give the first episode 5/5. |

| As I am enjoying watching this episode again and again, it seems clear that the way that the concept of an "unpopular girl" (mojo) is being defined at the very beginning really isn't quite right. Tomoko summarizes the three points of the definition as, "an ugly girl that boys don't like." But this is quite different from the way that the word "mojo" is used and also explicitly defined in Japan. First of all, there is nothing in the standard definition involving being ugly. After all, a person could be unpopular for any number of reasons. The only point is that the girl has neither dated nor been confessed to. However, an aspect that is completely missing from Tomoko's summary is that a "mojo" is generally unpopular. So that means that she doesn't have female friends either. We can see very clearly that she doesn't have female friends, or very few. Looking at the manga just now, I see that the manga defined "unpopular girl" in the same way as in the anime. Most likely the manga authors (they are a team of two) wanted to keep things conceptually simple. |
