Man my sense of humor really is just way out there isn't it? Nobody ever gets my jokes and apparently my references are always too vague that I always have to end up explaining it all in the end anyway. |

Valvrave's opening sales O_o its an amazing song so it deserves that many sales. I hope Shingeki no Kyojin's opening sales just this much or even more its the best song I heard this year. |

Yay for Kamisama Hajimemashita. The anime was pretty neat, I hope for a second season. The Valvrave OP deserves it. I'm curious about the anime sales though. |

Railgun2 roared back to life beating SnK v1. As expected Stalker just follows what Amazon does, and since Amazon is counting migrate orders as new and will not disclose how many did migrate (or chose to forfeit the Amazon order and go for storefront or whatever), Stalker has to treat the new entry as new and accumulates from scratch. Can't be helped I guess. |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

The new entries have had a large pulling effect on the other 6 volumes, pretty impressive. Unless there has been something new (other than those radio CD-ROMs a while back) announced to be on v2~4, 6~8? |

jmal said: the only odd thing is that they haven't opened up orders for the new listing yet but I assume they're giving existing customers a couple days to reply to emails about migrating their orders first, so they don't get a bunch of duplicate orders. jmal said: I've just gone to 2ch Sales Thread to take a look. Apparently there is no such thing as Amazon waiting for confirmation. Basically what happened is just that every person who preordered Railgun2 v1 and v5 BD/DVD got an email in which they were told how to cancel their original order and where to find the new item so that they can place their order again. They were not told to reply and Amazon would NOT do any migration for them. So if a person is not happy with the arrangement by Amazon, he can just cancel his order and go somewhere else to place his order. Amazon would not know - the best it could do is just by checking how many orders came for the new listings and estimated how many of them came from old orders.Actually I'm not even sure why they need confirmation to migrate the orders, who is going to say "Oh no I totally don't want the bonus disc"? >_> Price is the same, no? |

Fearless prediction, if it does relatively well people here complain about Japanese fans having shit taste, if it does average to poorly compared to other stuff this season people try to gloat about it clearly being "so shitty even the Japanese don't want to buy it". It's already pretty much written in stone. |

I imagine, like the previous two volumes, it's only high because everything else had its first day of sales the day before. Also there's not a huge amount of competition this week (sales are unusually spread out this month) from big sellers. If it had been ahead of SAO that would have been quite the shocker but the gap between them is probably huge. Or I duno maybe it comes with some amazing bonus that is gonna boost sales tremendously but the previous two volumes sold under 2k. I missed the fact that Hidamari Sketch came out the day before. I thought it had more than Hidamari Sketch which should be 5000 or more. |

From its amazon rank I assume they just didn't press many and were surprised that it sold given the interest in the show. Thanks. Mine should ship soon... However, for Muromi-san, I would like to comment that the OP single definitely did much better than expected. Uesaka Sumire is clearly on the upward trend and this debut song of hers has got quite good press and fan feedback so far. And this does not necessarily have to do with Muromi-san anime itself. Uesaka seems to put on a very personal stamp on the presentation and marketing of this single in mini concerts etc. Before its release, people are guessing its sales would be at most 7k or so, so definitely the result is much better than initial expectation. Check http://koeotaoukoku.blomaga.jp/articles/4176.html (you can even check the PV at the bottom of the page, which is very Uesaka in style and has little to do with the anime). |

I bought the LE with the DVD of her crazy live video song rather than the cheaper one with the anime cover as I love Sumire's antics! She is funny, crazy, zany, I think she has a great future as either or both idol and seiyuu. Great personality. She takes the song to places where the writer probably never saw it going. She does say "Muromi san" in the song but otherwise... With the recent event tickets I assume Sumire will be at the Muromi-san event. Along with Yukarin it should be a rockin' good show! Hopefully they'll tape the event footage and throw it on a DVD to include with a future manga edition or something as I'd drop some extra yen on a manga to see it. Probably not in time for BD3 which is too bad, would be a great extra. I thought there would be more songs and less soundtrack but the soundtrack is mostly a soundtrack. The listening samples didn't go up until mine had shipped... ah well! Still good, just not exactly a Shinsekai Yori soundtrack LOL |

I don't know how big the restock was, so no way to tell if it'll rank next week. Probably wasn't a big restock, it only went up to about #60 rank or so. I did the old "add 999 copies to the cart" thing when it was back in stock at around 5~6pm JST on May 25. It had 147 left, so that's some idea of how big the restock was. Well, the count does fluctuate by 1 copy up and down sometimes so it has gotta be higher than 147 I guess. It was in stock for more than a day though i'm pretty sure. It was in stock before I went to sleep yesterday at 11pm JST May 26. Even GaruPan v3 LE BD is getting a restock on May 31... with 856 copies left when I do that 999 copies thing again. |

It has been almost 3 weeks since I last posted the Stalker estimate of BD/DVD sales for volume 1 of anime in this season, so I guess it is worth coming back to take a look at how the various anime fare in the past 3 weeks, which could be said as around the mid-point of the season. Usually the term "mid-season slump" comes to mind as early adopters of keen fans have already made their preorders and any boost from a well executed finale is not yet in sight - many viewers may in fact still be trying to find out where the anime they watch are heading and not yet make up their mind whether they love a series enough to buy the discs. But what is the situation on the ground? Here is the Amazon Stalker estimate of the total BD/DVD first week sales for Volume 1 of the anime in this season. The first number is the May 8th number and the second number is today's number. 46.0k -> 75.4k SnK (Shingeki no Kyojin) 27.7k -> 22.4k UtaPrince2 12.2k -> ????k Railgun2 12.2k -> 10.1k Gargantia 8.2k -> 9.5k HaMaou (hataraku maou-sama) 8.7k -> 8.8k OreImo2 5.0k -> 7.0k Valvrave 5.0k -> 6.3k Karneval 3.6k -> 5.4k OreGairu 5.4k -> 5.1k HenNeko 5.0k -> 4.8k Date A Live 3.8k -> 4.3k Azazel-san2 3.3k -> 3.4k Nyaruko2 3.0k -> 3.2k Devil Survivor2 2.2k -> 3.2k Muromi-san 2.1k -> 3.0k PhotoKano 2.2k -> 2.5k Aiura 2.0k -> 2.5k MJP (majestic prince) 3.4k -> 2.3k Crime Edge 2.7k -> 2.3k RDG (red data girl) 2.0k -> 2.2k Samurai Bride ---- -> 2.0k Mushibugyou 1.3k -> 1.5k Yuyushiki 0.7k -> 1.0k Aku no Hana 1.0k -> 0.9k Hayate4 2.1k -> 0.7k ZBL (zettai bouei leviathan) 0.4k -> 0.5k Arata Kangatari Comments: 1. A spell at #1 (or #2) for SnK for almost 2 weeks really threw the Stalker estimate to twilight zone. At one point the estimate went >100k just for the BDs. No reasonable soul would take that as an accurate prediction of the sales figure, though guesses that it may sell a number of discs at Madoka's range of >50k are quite widespread. Now that the title is back in #5 or so (for the BD), the estimate is coming down to a range that looks much more reasonable, albeit still seems to be overly high. Still one thing is clear: Compared to May 8th, the popularity of the series is still on an upward trend, with the recent episodes receiving a lot of very good feedback from fans, and this is reflected in the Stalker estimate too. 2. UtaPrince2 may be hitting a mid-season slump, on the other hand. Fatigue also seems to be what is hitting Gargantia and Crime Edge as both drop really significantly in ranking and Stalker estimates even though its recent episodes did not receive much of negative feedback or complaints. 3. Railgun2 is currently in the process of orders being migrated (by customers) from an old format to a new format with an additional disc for Vol.1 and 5 as the old format stops taking new orders. This seriously derails the Stalker estimate because the points accumulated (and estimate made) for vol.1 in old format are now useless. The estimate for the new format is still not out yet, and even when it comes out it is likely to be a sharp overestimation because the migration of orders into the new format means that the position of the discs is now artificially high. It would take time for it to settle down and only by then can we tell if the new estimate provides us with data that are useful as reference. Given the stability of the estimate before the new format appeared (it is always around 12k or so), I am using the 12.2k number from May 8th to rank the title in this chart. 4. HaMaou and OreGairu both benefited from popularity gradually built up through the series. There is no single "god-tier" episode that shifted their fortune, although the inclusion of extra novel for HaMaou back in early May is definitely a positive force in boosting the estimate. And of course the light novels of both series are doing really well as a result of the anime, all evidence pointing to the good reception of the anime. 5. On the other hand, OreImo2, HenNeko, Date A Live, Nyaruko2, Samurai Bride (adapted from LN) and Devil Survivor 2 (adapted from game) are cruising along on quite stable course in terms of estimate. Similar can be said, to lesser extent, for RDG, Azazel-san2 and those works in the bottom tier (Yuyushiki, Aku no Hana, Hayate4, Arata Kangatari) 6. Karneval seems to benefit from an extremely well received episode around 2 weeks ago. Or it could be the inclusion of an event ticket... Can't be sure as I failed to track the date when the event ticket was announced. 7. Muromi-san's big jump can be attributed by a fan event ticket (that is guaranteed for everybody who buys all 3 volumes of the series), while the jump for PhotoKano can be attributed to the extra downloadable content added for vol.1. Even Mushibugyou benefited from fan event ticket: At first its estimate was just around 1k but after the even ticket announcement the estimate crept up and now it is 2k. On the other hand, Valvrave's boost from fan event ticket is now wearing off: Once its estimate was over 9k but now it is down to 7k. Much now depend on how fans take the development in the coming episodes. 8. Majestic Prince is definitely benefiting from the new-found enthusiasm for the series as the "only robot anime this season that is doing robot combat in space the right way". Its higher position in the ranking improves its estimate somewhat but it is still below the manabi line of around 3k. 9. ZBL's 0.7k estimate is actually much closer to what fans predicted before the season started (0.5k to 1k). Its high estimate on May 8th is probably due to error for early estimate numbers, which tend to overestimate substantially. In conclusion, the TOP FOUR of this season still seems to be SnK, UtaPrince2, Railgun2 and Gargantia, although we are not quite certain which anime will take the no.3 and no.4 slots. HaMaou and OreImo2 both have a chance of breaking the 10k line for their vol.1. OreGairu and Karneval are also winners of this season, while we may need to reserve judgement for Valvrave until we see how well it does in later volumes. |

^ I did not read about that - what do you mean by "extension screen" I wonder? But anyway in BD and DVD, there will always be adjustment and fine-tuning, some more drastic some more modest. And in an anime like Data A Live where there is more fanservice, more effort may be put in to reintroduce scenes that are censored when it is broadcast on TV. |

I am not surprised by the Gargantia drop. Not sure it is just fatigue, as well there have been several episodes that are very restful and which are really taking main trope a bit too strictly. For me personally, the import is now in doubt unless the ending is really good. With just 4 episodes to pull it out, I will see. The delay to August doesn't help either, it means a long wait for the OVAs and I may not care about it by that time. Yukarin and Sumire should make for a great event for Muromi san and it is a funny show so I am not surprised by the rise in popularity. With only 3 discs for the 12-minute show it was a great move to guarantee a spot in the event if you buy all three tickets. Unless I'm mistaken most event tickets are not guarantees, you need to apply for them and not all are accepted. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

symbv said: He means "Director's Cut." Supposedly, the BDs for Date a Live will have extended scenes, much like how Fate/Zero did. There are some screenshots out there that shows some scenes not included in the TV broadcast and included in the BDs. Here's an article, though it's from Sankaku. |
