I liked the movie. It was like a fancy version of the good early part of season one :D I saw it when I hadn't seen season one in a long time and it reminded me how promising this anime once was.

I didnt like the movie at all. Other than the improved art, the whole movie was a mess. The part where Mariann had to sacrifice herself was retarded, why didnt they use the goddamn gun when they ensnared Shana? Yuji was a lot more annoying in the movie. There were many more stupid things. Why didnt they cast the fuzetsu before the final fight? dont they always have to cast it before a fight? In the end Shana was naked and only had the cloak on, but she didnt seem to be bothered by the fact that Yuji had a clear view of her vag...

It was surprisingly good, even thought I just finished watching the first season so I still remembered the events quite well. The ending of this was really great.

Needless to say I loved this movie much more than the first arc of the anime.

I also thought it was a better introduction to the series, and had better execution than the series version.

Wish people would do more research before calling this a recap. It's NOT A RECAP, the movie follows the novel and not the manga like the serie did so ofcourse it's very similar but different at the same time. And like everything when it's directly taken from a novel the quality will be much higher as the story telling tends to be more specific and less broad minded to appeal too many different persons.

I really wish they would continue making more movies following the novel as it explains things a lot better than what the series did, and overall it felt much more dramatic.

I watched S1 like 2 years ago and just finished watching this. They changed so much from the anime o.o.
I like the final scene of this arc in the anime better than the movie when Shana and Yuji were talking and Yuji thought he was gone.

But I guess half naked Shana in the movie :P

In the ending scene with Yuji thinking he was going to disappear, I liked the movie version more due to the more touching conversation between Yuji and Shana before and after midnight. The anime version did have Shana put her hands on Yuji's, which was also nice.

Shakugan no Shana is a top 5 anime for me and I was a little disappointed with this movie. It lacked the emotion and drama of the anime. Plus I was mad they removed my favorite scene(when Shana crawls into Yuji's bed).

Well this was like an alternate world of what could have happened in the series. I was a bit disappointed by a few left out scenes but I can understand why they did it as there's not enough time in a movie compared to a 24 series. I would say it was quite enjoyable.
Also in the end Shana was naked in front of Yuji and no one cared xD.

9/10.

For the most part, I wasn't impressed.

But the climax was pretty sweet. The animation got to show off, and Alastor's true form was epic.

And the villain was much cooler here than in the show.

The movie is mostly recap but the original scenes were good. Yoshida had many new scenes. Wilhelmina had some cameos.
The second half is significantly altered and somehow connects the end of first arc with the end of the first season.
I preferred this version of the fight. It made much more sense. Friagne's plan with the bell being a ruse was confusing in the tv series. This movie is a must watch for people that were disappointed with the 6th episode of first season imo. 8/10.

Took so many years to watch this movie lol.
Ends up serving as a nice nostalgia bomb for sure, with lovely animation at the end, and that ending song... it was hearing it that had me wonder where it comes from, and I found it came from this movie since it was never used on the TV series.
Very enjoyable movie.

They are not original scenes though, from what I read, this is a more faithful adaptation of LN volume 1, so whatever changed here from S1, was mostly in the LN itself.

Hmm, that explains the better writing. Good to know.

It's a well-done summary movie with plenty of new scenes. Also, the action is animated better compared to the series.
1:17:19 Damn, Alastor looks badass!
Hunter Friagne didn't die in a lame manner, unlike in the series. Those massive flames consuming him looked awesome!
