School Rumble... hilarious show. I'm currently watching it, and it has managed to make me laugh out loud in more than one episode, and I'm the type of person who NEVER laughs out loud from watching TV/anime.

Another (its an anime where you laugh at gruesome deaths)
SAO (Because its so crappy)
Angel Beats had some funny moments but wasn't really recognized solely as being a funny anime.

Just recently got into Hayate no Gotoku, and I must say, I get a good laugh from it most the time.

I think comedy anime gets funnier the more anime you watch in general.
Comedy, other than straight up slapstick stuff, tends to require the viewer to be familiar with regional cultures.
So if you're from the United States, for instance, you have a different viewpoint than people from Japan, so it gets hard sometimes to find the same things humorous.
The more you watch anime in general, the more you pick up and understanding of standard Japanese culture and social life, and gives you something of a better perspective of why things are considered funny.
If the first anime you've ever watched is a comedy, you'll surely miss a lot more of the references than if you've been watching anime for a few years, especially since comedy animes like making jokes that reference other anime.
I mean, yeah, everyone can laugh at a guy getting hit in the balls, or someone being a bad cook, or someone singing terribly.
It's the jokes based around the language itself and the Japanese pop culture that are easy to miss or just go over your head if you lack the familiarity with it.

I know that all was a bit off topic, but just felt like sharing my thoughts on things actually making you laugh.

Yeah, i agree, it can turn out to be disadvantageous for one to enjoy the comedy of a culture they are not aware of,,,

that said, though, i really want to watch comedy filled with Gross-out and hysterical humor like the one in American movies such as Anchorman, Superbad, or Knocked-up....
God...i hope there is someone as crazy as Will Ferrell...

Gintama, Samurai Champloo, Great Teach Onizuka and Hayate no Gotoku
Champloo isn't comedy, but I still find it funnier then most comedy animes.
GTO and Hayate no Gotoku got kinda boring after a few episodes, specially GTO, but they're still funny.

This. Decent comedy animes that doesn't go "come on how is a girl falling down a flight of stairs onto a boy with boobs and all hanging out funny" tend to make lots of references. A few Gintama and Hayate no Gotoku can get very boring if you don't get them.

You should really try to watch Gintama. Same director as Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, and very similar type of humor. Don't assume it is like some typical shounen anime, it's awesome. Judging by the anime you like you would most likely enjoy it. Does take a bit to get really good, but wouldn't say it starts off bad. Episodes like 80+ are almost all amazing though.
