It depends on the name. I would be okay with it if the name wasnt something like "Inuyasha" (like other people have said). But if the name was something like "Saya", "Sana", "Nanally", "Mai" or something along those lines... I'd be completely fine with it. I think the name Saya is beautiful. My friend really wants to name her child "Mitsuki". The only people who would ridicule me would be my parents... though my name is "Marilee" and who knows where the hell thats from.

I already thought about that. names like lunamaria, azmaria, rosette, aerith, tifa, rinoa, yuna, lenne, come into mind.

Yeah I would. Except I'm not Asian and it may be strange to have an Asian name.

If I had a son, I might named him Seto from Yu-Gi-Oh, Light from Death Note or Vegeta.........lol
If I had a daughter, maybe Hinata, Tifa, or Dokuro-chan

well I thoughtof the names that aren't japanese so it would'nt seem weird that a non japanese would have a japanese name.
but I would some exceptions.

Sure why not.
There are some good anime names.

For example i think Saya it's a good name for a girl.

There are many names that are good to name your kids but of course it depends on what country you live.

Only if the name wasn't super weird Japanese sounding... I really don't want my kid to come home in tears because some douche bag made fun out of his name, I just wouldn't be able to forgive myself for it.

But the good thing is that many animes are filled with non-Japanese names that sound more Western and exotic for the Japanese people and many can be used for daily uses too.

But still... when you pick a name, you have to chose carefully and wise.

I recently named my new pet rabbit Mokona, something my family are having trouble pronouncing. I would never name a child Mokona. That's kind of cruel, no matter how cute that plushie creature is.

Like I've said before, I'm all for naming my kids japanese names. Just as much as when I had an obsession with Greek names ages ago. If it's a pretty name then I'm all for it.

I'm not going to go all out and name my child Lelouch Lamperouge de Brittania. That would be rather silly.

Of course I would. If it was a male I would called him Son Goku and if it was a female I would call her Chi Chi J/k. I would never call my son after a character from an anime. I would give him a normal name and btw I feel bad for all those people out there who their parents give them weird names like "Talula Does The Hula". Good thing the judge is making that girls parents change her name. I mean come on naming your daughter something that stupid.

it became kira(light yagami) in death note cause they couldn't properly say kill in japanese. it has nothing to do with the name itself.

Only if I really didn't like my child! I guarantee any child called Naruto in the west would get beaten up within moments of entering school!

I wouldn't. Simply based on the fact I don't want to live in a nursing home when I'm old. I think that's a good reason. I'm sure 18 years of having to put up with the name Sasuke for my own morbid amusement and curiosity would be plenty long enough to cause a child to have an extreme hatred toward their parent.

Then again, 18 years of someone having to put up with the name Sasuke would be pretty damn amazing...

hm....if I'm living in Japan I'll probably do name my child after an anime character ^^ , but if not...guess I won't...or my child is going to run abroad and change his/her name xD
But still... it's not said the name should be naruto, sasuke, orochimaru or something like that.. there are Japanese names that don't sound funny or extraordinary [but beautiful] and also not every character is with a Japanese name.
Who knows...after 10-20 years it could be popular to call your children after anime characters :D
[if somebody really wishes to call his child - Sasuke or anything like that -> you can always brainwash him/her to be an otaku and to not care if anybody bullies him/her,because he/she has the name of his/her fav anime character oO ]

Never. That would the weirdest thing to do to my kids, and my future wife would probably bitch slap me if she found out. It's pretty unrealistic in my opinion as some characters have the craziest names ever. Even now, I'm not planning on having any kids as I see them as a hassle. If I ever do suddenly decide to have kids, I'd give them normal names that don't sound Japanese.

I plan to dedicate the middle name of my child after Jacuzzi.
Now this isn't because I'm that obsessed with anime, neither because I'm a hardcore fan of Jacuzzi (which i'm not), it's just because Jacuzzi is a seriously awesome name and it just so happens that an anime character is the first person I've seen with that name thus inspiring me to use it.
