Idk. However, the first show that I'd recognized as Japanese was Pokémon, so I guess I'll say that.

First japanese anime was Death Note. I watched that one because I wantet something as addictive as Dexter (which almost worked out). My first series I would call anime however was Avatar: The Last Airbender, which I got hold of after watching the terrible movie adaption.

I'm not sure, but I think it was Voltes V. I can't recall anything older than that though. I've watched it in our local channel.

Fellow Filipino 90's generation. If you could help me out here. ^_^

It would probably be Pokemon, Avatar, Inuyasha, Narito, or One Piece. I just saw them randomly on television so I'm not really sure if that counts. The first anime that I technically saw is Death Note.

Hey I'm not the only one who watched Speed Racer, yay. Also Marine Boy, they were shown back-to-back. I've been watching anime for a while.

There are two types of anime - almost as good as Elfen Lied, and not as good as Elfen Lied.

Actually, the show that started me wasn't anime at all but an animated series from the mid 1960's called Jonny Quest. It was the first action/adventure cartoon featuring people that looked like people I had seen and I was captivated. It even aired in the early evening and not on Saturday morning! I also liked some early super hero cartoons so when, as an adult, I discovered true Japanese anime at a Science Fiction convention in the mid '80's I was hooked.

Probably First of the North Star movie was my first real anime. there was also some weird anime on the VHS about some space pirates and a human male bucking a tiger woman.......that might have been Henti.

So awesome this show, imagine spending your days watching great cartoons like Transformers, GI JOE and He-Man..........and then getting your hands on FIST OF THE NORTH STAR!!!! EPIC

I started watching Pokemon and Digimon when I was little and then Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors and Outlaw Star. I didn't know it was "anime" at the time and I barely remember what happened so only Outlaw Star and Cardcaptors is on my list because I rewatched them later.

It was Pokémon. Or Astro Boy. I was around four at the time.

First anime that I knew was anime was... Gah, can't remember the name of it. I figured it out recently, but I just cannot recall. The only part of it that I vividly remember was a guy jumping off a cliff to save a girl (or something involving two people falling), and the guy grew angel wings.
