I too can't understand how they could make another season of FMA... It's my #1 anime, and I'm still dubious about it... I thought they ended it well.

Here's hoping for a true-to-manga adaptation of FMA. I think it would be more interesting than a direct sequel to the anime series or the movie. Either way, I hope it'll be a full length series rather than more OVAs.

I've yet to watch Full Metal Alchemist. It seems to be a daunting task, what with its ~50 episodes. I better hop to it before even MORE comes out. D:

Darker than Black is really exciting news to me! I was totally interested in the idea of contractors and how their powers worked. I'd love to see more of it. :3

Damn, second season of Darker Than Black should be pretty sweet, given that they keep it like the first season, animation-wise.

FMA, I could care less, lol.

Bullshit. There's no fucking way FMA is getting a second season.

Not after 5 years.

Not happening.

Why not? If it's going to be based on manga story, then it will be something totally different... BETTER ^^

FMA second season gonna change the world forever!! :p

hopefully fma's 2nd season is going to take place 30-40 years after the end of the movie. i'd love to see how the characters are getting older and their lives is changing. this 'biological development' part is the reason why i always liked dragon ball for example ;)
it'd be too more reasonable - Ed and Al are dead and their children're trying to reach the secrets of parallel world. at least for me it'd be more fascinating than watching how theyre trying to solve the 'how to dismantle the atomic bomb' puzzle :p

Couldn't have said it better myself =]
I really hope it's a remake, the original anime was good, but to have it follow the manga would be awesome. Screw random second seasons based on nothing! XD

FMA news is nice, but if its not a new series that follows the manga i will be severely disappointed. I'm not really interested in a second season that follows the crazy ending of the first.

I can guarantee all of you that the new season of FMA, whatever it is, will suck. Hard.

The 51 episodes of FMA were awesome, a truly excellent, original anime, which even managed to incorporate emotion and depth into its storylines without seeming forced or absurd.

Unfortunately, I then made the mistake of watching the OVA's, and even worse, the movie. They were HORRENDOUS. Like, incredibly bad, among the worst anime I've ever seen.

I was honestly shocked by this; how could the same creators of something so good suddenly turn around and create the cinematic equivalent of rotten eggs mixed with goat piss? Then, I realized the simple reason.

MONEY.

After the series became popular, they milked the shit out of that cash cow. All types of merchandise, multiple games, numerous DVD specials, an OST, and of course, the OVAs and movie.

Apparently, their greed wasn't slaked by all of that, though. They have to make a brand new series. Which, like with the movie, enough fans will give high scores to and claim to enjoy, even if everything that made the series great is absent from the new work.

Darker than BLACK really could do with a second season imo
FMA however with a second season would probably only end up messed up I think.

You do realize that "Season 2" of FMA will just be an animated verwsion of the series from the manga (storyline/plot) right/correct?

If that's the case, I still very much expect it to suck. Re-read my original post. The creators are only interested in the money now, which is easy to see considering how bad everything after the original 51 episodes was.

And I don't care how much you love the manga's ending; it takes a lot of effort and skill to effectively translate a manga into an anime, and the creators aren't up for it.

Hollywood producers making millions of sequels, re-makes, and adaptations aren't the only greedy bastards out there.

First off, I have not read the entire manga series. I have not because only volumes 1-16 have been released in America so far. That's right, I don't read manga scans.

As for the producers/directors and stuff like that, I couldn't give a shit about that. When I think of FMA, I only think of the characters and fictional storyline etc etc.

I have no idea how anything you've written is even tangentially related to my post. I think FMA 2 won't be very good, for all the reasons I mentioned above. If you don't think so (albeit for no reason), cool.

Quite derailing this topic with stories of how cool you are for not downloading manga scans. This topic is for discussing FMA 2 and DTB 2.

i love fma so i would be happy for a second season~ :)
but with the way that it ended i dont see how they could make it remotely as good as the first without dragging it out and making it boring (has anyone else been watching shippuden recently... if so you'll see my point).
if they follow the plot from the manga then thats a different story :D

Sigh, fine, but I'm still calling episodes 29-51 season 2. Anyways, it would have to be a remake of the series that would follow the manga more closely. They certainly wouldn't be able to continue with what they left off with in the movie.

And I guarantee that despite being vastly inferior to the first season, the fanboys and fangirls on this site will help it break the top 100-150 anime in popularity, easily. Hell, if the God-awful FMA movie got such a great rating, there's no reason this won't.

For the record, I loved the first 51 episodes of FMA. Great stuff. It's just everything after that has sucked.

im quite excited, i wonder what it will be on. Itll probably be either a continuation after the movie about them getting back or maybe a retelling following more closely to the manga.

either way, im excited.

This should probably be moved to news.

I'm excited for this too. I loved the show and have been meaning to read the manga from where the show diverged. I hope this is a remake following the manga instead of a continuation since the series feels finished to me. I also hope the people who made the original will all be involved.
