A while back I had begun reading G Senjou Heaven's Door, which fits into the seinen demographic quite nicely. I don't know about how good of a manga it is (haven't finished it, only 13 chapters scanlated), but it is certainly memorable. It is an interesting take on aspiring mangaka and that feeling of powerlessness of growing up.

In light of becoming the "Series of the Week" at Mangatraders (I admit to it being old news, but I had forgotten about this series), I say we should add Honeymoon Salad to the relations. To be honest I don't get the name one bit (not that I understood my last suggestions name), but it has to be one of my favorite slice-of-life, somewhat dramatic type of seinen, and not because of the sex. I would just head over to the hentai genre for that.

Another one too: Usagi Drop. A josei about a man who takes in his grandfather's illegitimate child. It is still in early chapters, but I can't be any more enthusiastic about it. I was initially expecting a more Kramer vs Kramer type of story, but instead it tackles this serious subject in a very cute, charming manner, and focuses more on the growing of both the child and guardian. (so far, at least)

Rawr, more. S.S. ASTRO: Asashio Sogo Teachers’ ROom. I picked it up today. It is a yonkoma very similar to Azumanga Daioh. It just focuses on the teachers. Think Yukari and Nyamo's own manga.

Nothing to do but post here, it seems.

Another series I had forgotten about: Imouto wa Shishunki. Another 4koma, but practically everything is a sex joke. Enough to prevent you from reading it around others, but it isn't fanservice.

I just saw the first two episodes of "Kurenai". Im totally surprised. Although the characters are "children", the story is definitely not for kids.

Could it be "seinen"?

I'll admit that the first few chapters of the manga (I have not seen the anime) seemed like it could become a more adult-oriented manga eventually, but then it just fell into such ridiculous harem shounen stereotypes that I would have to say no. Then again, the anime could be different.

@Takai
I saw it too. Its a moving show and due to the rather "mature" end it could be considered as an anime for grownups. But its not my decision... :P

@Palimpsest
The Website "AniDB.net" is classifying both "Kurenai" and "Romeo x Juliet" as seinen. But I dont now if that means something...

Just finished "Kurenai". Its definitely meant for adults!!

"Casshern Sins" !

It reminds me of shows like "Kino no tabi" and "Kaiba". :]

Any chance of Evangelion getting on that relations list? The first few episodes make it look like typical shounen, but it's really deep later on, and has some really realistic characters and conflicts. And it definitely makes you use your brain.

I think Bradherley's Coach should be added to the manga relations. It's one of the most violent and disturbing seinen manga I've read in a while. It tackles a few important areas like institutionalized crime, gang rape, society's (or these who control society) sacrifice of those who are most vulnerable for the sake of stability, ect.

I'm going to re-suggest MW and Ode to Kirihito. Both titles examine psychological themes that you would not find in many manga and take a deep look at humanity. Frankly, I think these titles are way more suitable for the relations list than those titles that are currently being contested.

I also think A, A' should be added to the list. I know that this manga was published in a shoujo serial, but this was published at a time whenever there were no josei serials. This series intelligently looks at human emotions.

DoLL, a manga with an interesting premise of a woman who decides to live with a man who used to be her teacher. Many things are unclear at the current five scanlated chapters, but I'd say it certainly fits in here.

I would like to recommend Eternal Sabbath to be included as part of the club manga list.
Pardon me if this has already been suggested; I have looked through the forums for any mention, but only briefly, so I may have over-looked something.
In short, I think the plot has been well thought out, and carries a mature theme. The style of writing and the flow of the story as it progresses is quite interesting, and has a clear beginning, middle and end, without it being inconsistent or erratic. Visually, I found it very fitting (of course that's a matter of personal taste).

Just thought I'd throw it on the table for consideration. :3

Cool, finally found this club I was looking for. It's hard to use the regular rating system to get clean recommendations, it's full of kids who give a 10 to Deathnote, Naruto and harem crap. [just for the record cause I don't want any misunderstanding, I'm not saying that of you give a 10 to deathnote you're a moron or a brat. But there is a fact: if you're 13yo, deathnote is your third manga, then you're bound to be like "wow it's so amazing" and give it a 10. Many people do that => the rating system is biased towards something that does not correspond to me. That's all.]

I've gone through the list and would like to recommend these:

1- Anime

http://myanimelist.net/anime/1483/Master_Keaton (may be better in manga, but I haven't had the occasion to read it)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/578/Grave_of_the_Fireflies : tough movie

http://myanimelist.net/anime/593/Infinite_Ryvius : even though the characters are all kids (well, teens), I found interesting the different approaches they have regarding Power (or management, it depends on the approach). Can't say more if don't want to spoil.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/253/Jungle_wa_Itsumo_Hare_nochi_Guu : well at first sight it's cute and funny. Right. That doesn't make it good for this club. But I found quite more, especially in the "what's really important in life" line. It's more an underlying thing.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/1033/Millennium_Actress

http://myanimelist.net/anime/160/Now_and_Then_Here_and_There : I like the way the stupidity of war is pictured.

2- manga

http://myanimelist.net/manga/664/Akira

http://myanimelist.net/manga/1695/Adolf (there's a lot from Tezuka that we could put on the list, y'know)

http://myanimelist.net/manga/668/Appleseed

http://myanimelist.net/manga/768/Battle_Angel_Alita : Go beyong the shounen / action part of it. There's a nice part about the uniqueness of minds, the meaning of freedom in such a harsh world and so on

http://myanimelist.net/manga/11415/Birdman_Anthology (Tezuka is God)

http://myanimelist.net/manga/1600/Black_Jack (and he rules)

http://myanimelist.net/manga/1111/Buddha (did I tell you Tezuka is the best? this one is a must-read, my friends)

http://myanimelist.net/manga/3258/Harukana_Machi-E

http://myanimelist.net/manga/2179/Heads

http://myanimelist.net/manga/651/Nausica%C3%A4_of_the_Valley_of_the_Wind : amazing work by Miyazaki. For those who have seen the movie, READ IT, there's a lot more in the manga.

http://myanimelist.net/manga/2961/Satsuma_Gishiden : historical manga that I highly recommend if you're interested in feodal Japan

I hope you guys find something that you will like in this small list.

Manabi Straight! (anime and manga) should be added for the time being, as it has a similar tone and is serialised in the same magazine as Kamichu. We can debate its merits as a seinen series after we include it. I'm on the fence on this one, having only seen the anime, which gives out mixed messages regarding its target audience.

Although it doesn't have a manga, I think it's safe to assume that Windy Tales is aimed at a Seinen audience.

Also add Aoi Bungaku and Kuchu Buranko from this season's anime.

If we go off which magazine a manga is serialized in, then [url=http://myanimelist.net/anime/6030/Needless]Needless
should be in as well, although I think it is a highly questionable addition, but as with Manabi Straight, we can leave that discussion until after it is added.
