Funny story? I was in Berlin when Greece beat Germany that night. You'd think a war had started walking down the street that night.

Greece never played against Germany during the Euro 2004 though. +_+

About the match, South Korea proves again that they are by far the best asian team. Although with their defence it will probably be hard against teams with a better offensive than Greece.

finally a game i want to watch.

Argentina has been my dark horse since time. Nigeria, in my opinion, could be the best team coming out of Africa, long, athletic and skilled players on that team.

loooks like they're using NGA now for Nigeria, looks like they learned their lesson from the Nigeria Germany game where NIG GER was all over the score boards

Word...that's weird...I could have sworn I was in Berlin that night...maybe I was in Paris during the quarter finals? I could have sworn it was Berlin tho...hmmm. Ah well, point being, I remember Greece narrowly winning and whatever city I was in, ppl were pissed. :p

Argentina - Nigeria was probably the best match so far.

Also the argentinians are the most energetic fans until now, during many moments of the game they were actually louder than the vuvuzelas, that must be a miracle xD

Argentina vs Nigeria was somewhat boring. Argentina just scored and then kinda sat there.

SK vs Greece was better.

England VS USA:

nice 2nd League encounter.
For the moment, every entertainment is based on big mistake from one of the 2 teams.

Even if it is an english-based forum, I hope you're not really relying on one of these 2 for the real part of the competition :-*

There's always Australia, but they are in one of the toughest groups in the entire competition, so they would do well to even get past the group stages.

england were shocking bad tonight, i expected them to whoop the USA no problem.

Even though it was Greens fault for the goal, the USA deserved the draw.

Great game with many goal opportunities on both sides, still i think Englad was the better team, i think they dominated in all compartments. Also near the end of the game the americans looked a lot more tired than the english players and started stalling.

The match itself was pretty boring, but the internet made up for it, I laughed more than with any match until now lol. USA's defense sucked, but so did England's attack. Kinda disappointing.

Oh well, I haven't seen either Chile, Netherlands or Brazil, so I still have hope, as the matches have been pretty boring so far.

England vs USA - boring? Hell no. The best match so far. Liked DeMerit and Onyewu, especially the latter. I've seen him a few years ago in the UEFA Cup playing for Standard Liege against my home team Zenit St. Petersburg (the subsequent winners of the cup), and he played way more dirty and made many mistakes. Today his tackles were just awesome.

I feel for Green although I must admit that I did lol at that goal. They say in order to win a World Cup you need a good goalie. That better not be true for England.

Anyway if things go well they should still be able to beat Slovenia and Algeria, and make it first of their group, second being the US.

FUCK YESSS!!!!!

We fucking did it, it may not be a win, BUT TRUST ME, this was a "victory" for the U.S, and I couldn't be any happier.

I was in my local bar, the place got dead quiet when Gerrard scored early. But then we got our version of the "HAND OF GOD", when English goalie Robert Green let the ball go in, then it was all pandemonium.

Something that caught my attention about England was when Green just screwed up, no one went there to give him some support or just a lousy line like "it was just bad luck". Football is still a teamgame, anyone can screw up.
