I was on Facebook for about two weeks until I realized I didn't really give a shit about anyone on it. Does facebook really delete accounts anyway?

The thing I hate most about sites like facebook is how it eventually bites you back in the arse. I hear my cousins moaning about grief they get because of something that happened on facebook, like a pic they didn't want to be known was tagged or someone saw something they werent meant to, or something equally stupid, and I see how stressed they get and it just makes me roll my eyes.

I can never say this enough: Posting on the internet is like walking down the street shouting your head off. Except on the internet what you say and do will last forever, you can never un-do it. You guys really think when you delete a photo or something on facebook that it's actually deleted? Putting aside the fact that someone somewhere has saved your info and it will eventually multiply and spread across the net like a virus, that shit is on facebook's servers forever anyway.

I did the myspace thing back when it was popular, I'm so glad I quit and never looked back. Email and REAL LIFE is all I need to catch up with friends. Last.fm doesn't hurt either though. :D

Wow, once again, it reminds me of collegehumor. How like a friend got hold of the guy's account, and is saying random shit to like his girlfriend and stuff, rofl.

I can get everything done with facebook- it almost replaces:
emails, mailing list, appointment, event organizer etc.

So I wont quit FB for now

Truth. Nobody ever asks for my phone number, anyways, so it's a nifty little replacement.

[tangent]Though one thing that pisses me off, on the MySpace topic, is their current music layout. It used to be so much easier to navigate the various genres and related top artists, but they had to become a last.fm carbon copy clone. Ugh. MySpace is just pure fail. It never seemed to serve a purpose, anyways, other than being a FB predecessor. [/tangent]

As for Twitter, it's how you use it. Ideally it's a way to broadcast information and ideas in a concise form and over an easy to track and vast network. I don't think it's that effective, though, but I know one of my writing professors is all into this information dissemination technology for that reason.

Of course, for some people, it's a fad or something to de-bore, but the potential is there. But to write it off as a fad is only a half truth and seems to betray some level of ignorance or else betrays my and other people's idealism. Though I have grown to accept I have no use for such things aside from FB for reasons stated, and that's something I might check once or twice a week, on average, as I am not that interested in people's lives.

I only use facebook for easier contact and applications for other games(such as TinierMe).

Besides, 30,000 quits is a drop in the ocean compared to the 500m+ users that use it.
