| Kawase Kohei, the producer of Geneon Universal Entertainment, posted in his twitter that the episode 4 of Mayoi Neko Overrun! was completed at 8pm on April 20th, JST, only one week before the airing. According to Presepe news, the director of Mayoi Neko is switched in every episode and there is no general director who oversees the whole series. It's an unprecedented production scheme. Also, I find most of the characters to be quite engaging and the scenario's simple and somewhat cliché but not badly written for now. In fact, if you have the right storyboarders, a good animation director and a capable main scriptwriter, you definitely don't need to have a series coordinator/overall director for such a show, it's not GITS:SAC or LOGH... And there are so many movies and series (not only in animation and not only in Japan) not even directed by the guy who has his name credited as director that it's by far not an unusual occurence in today's film industry. The difference is that, generally speaking, the producer doesn't communicate such news on twitter :) |
