The Assistant Editor-In-Chief is correct though..

While i want them to quit Tanto but i still don't like how they planed to suddenly quit the Tanto, at least give me a proper end if i were their readers on Tanto

It's a pretty hard choice. On the one hand, 'Tanto' is really not their thing and the chance that they'll succeed with something else is high. But on the other hand, they're being absolutely childish. You can't start something and then just drop it because you found out it's hard for you. The editors are right - it's unprofessional. Which magazine exactly are they going to work for when they had been kicked out of 'Jump' for lacking professionalism?

It would be the best choice if they continue 'Tanto' - and actually try to make it better - while in the meantime they think carefully about the next story or even stories. When you're out of ideas, beating your head in the wall doesn't help. You have to concentrate on something else for awhile so your creative juices start flowing again. x)

This is actually a pretty interesting scenario.

While I can see the nobility in Mashiro's resolve to quit Tanto (I mean heck, it's what we've all wanted right?), I can't help but feel he's being a bit too blind in his judgment. Contradicting what I just said however, he actually has thought it through but I think he's just letting his emotions get the better of him.

I believe the assistant and editor-in-chief are right. It's a bit irresponsible on his behalf to want to quit, even though it might be the right move for them as mangaka to be able to do what they do best.

I'd like them to stay at JUMP though, simply because I want them to best Eiji and show all of the editors just how good they really are.

Man, I love Saiko. I love him for going straight to the editor-in-chief and asking him point blank. And I love him for asking the question that seems to be taboo among the mangakas at Jump. That guy has some serious balls. Awesome.

While I understand their position, the choices offered by the editors were unsatisfying. Essentially coming down to either keep it up until you can't breath anymore life into it or keep up with it until our readers think you suck. Ugh. Why not develop the plot a bit with the aim of reaching a conclusion that doesn't feel rushed and/or tacked-on? Can't wait to see what happens. High level tension.

I guess they will stay. Otherwise they cant really compete with Eiji. And Eiji will use his right to end a series on Tanto

Well, not that I don't want 'Tanto' to end but wouldn't it be rather... predictable if Eiji canceled it? And he would basically make Ashirogi's choice for them. I see it as the cowardly way out - to spare the characters from the need to make a hard decision and bear the consequences.

How can Eiji cancel Tanto in the first place? sorry if i misunderstood your post, but are you saying Eiji could canceled Tanto? or Eiji should cancel his manga?

Back when 'Crow' first got published Eiji said that if he becomes Jump's N.1 mangaka, he wants the right to cancel one manga he hates, no matter how popular it is. As he has two extremely popular mangas running in Jump right now, we figured he's already Jump's most important mangaka => if he insists they cancel 'Tanto', they will. But imo that's predictable.

Yeah, I think the same way. It would certainly make a lot sense, but I'd rather they not resort to being bailed out by Eiji.

I don't think they'll go to another magazine. Jump was their dream and only magazine they wanted to get published in their manga lives. Though there are a range of options for them quitting Tanto, I don't think they will select any one of them. Instead, I think the author of Bakuman will just let Eiji get them out of this situation by simply cancel it.

Epic cliffhanger AGAIN.

Yeah somehow it's becoming more and more make sense that the Bakuman's author want to use Eiji's card to get away from this situation..as long as it's making the plot goes on and the battle between Eiji and Ashirogii is back i don't mind,

although i odont think they'll leave SJ, I think they should because its obvious that the best manga they could produce should be some dark-style one, which simply isn't SJ type of manga...

I hope that Ohba manages to suprise me..

There's just no way they'll quit Jump. All the characters are involved with it, plus it publishes Bakuman. Saiko's just showing his determination to draw something better. Probably next chapter we'll get a compromise of some sort.

there's no real chance that they'll leave jump, this is a jump manga after all and they don't want to be advertising competitors.

i think they should consider turning the manga over to their assistants, if the assistants can handle it, then it shouldn't be a problem for those two to either walk away or start a second manga while taking an advisory role with Tanto.

its more likely that they'll come up with a name for a new series and try to make it super popular so that they can be freed from Tanto due to needing to focus on the new series.

honestly though, if they can find a way to improve Tanto that would be the best thing for their careers. they have almost no competition for the younger readers, so if they can add a decent chunk of the older readers, then they could beat Eiji with ease.

btw, why is Hattori pushing so hard for them to quit if he doesn't have an exit strategy for them? or has he not thought that far ahead?

Didn't we already know they would have to quit the whole magazine?

But anyway, they won't quit Jump. They can't. That would spoil every rivalry the series had. Besides, Jump is the only magazine that ranks the series so they couldn't even pull off a rivalry like "Well I'm doing better in Weekly Shounen Sunday! Ha!"

If they do quit, I'll be surprised. Why don't they intentionally let Tanto drop? Like make it really dumb so it'll be up for cancellation.

They COULD quit Tanto and go to another magazine, but seeing as Bakuman is serialized IN Jump, I don't think they'll allow it to happen. XDD So yeah, I wish Eiji would just use his power to cancel a series, and then cancel Tanto.

I am for that they quit jump, and after some cliffhanger they would return to jump, just because bakuman is serialiazed in Jump . It would be intresting to see how things are in another manga mangazines.

It would be interesting if they quit........I wonder what will happen to the series if they do...surely they would have to find a way to join jump again because of their rivals.

Oh gosh.... Editor-in-Chief just said the same thing he said to the poor Takahama guy when he wanted to cancel Business Boy Kenichi.... I'm not surprised... what surprised me was the little fact that our dear Saiko boldly went to the super Editor-In-Chief and told him out of the blue I'm quitting... just got the same response as Takahama... And I don't blame that guy since he's right.... but also let's face Tanto sucks...

Their options... I'm pretty much convinced they will not leave JUMP... the best one is to make better Tanto... how... no clue at all... maybe they will... not they... Shujin will ask for help from Takahama... or from any other mangaka that's good with comedy...Tanto Tanto... Oh gosh why you've been like this to the poor Saiko and Shujin.... c'mon you have to try harder....

The first three pages were like filler... Dunno what does words could mean... not to me bit to Miura... he has to be conscious of the responsibility he has with his work, but first of all with a clear and beneficial guidance for Ashirogi... Miura is a dick... he's like destroying or hampering their career... that guy has to try harder...

Just like Yamihisa!!! Dude that guy is like trash too, not the type of persons people love, but he's awesome pushing the author further and doing his work.. just doing it... sounds easy but that's why this dude is being successful with Aiko and with this Shizuka Ryu guy,,, man Shizuka looks like an awesome enemy! GOOOO Shizuka!

BTW, everyone talks about Eij's right to kill a series when he's at the TOP... he's at the TOP... but he's not TOP ONE with either Crow or +Natural!!! He's between Second and Fifth people... that means he's not the benefit to kill one series yet... No.1 is the aim....

It's not possible for one person to be at the top. Even in the real world, the top 3 is made of Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. This has been consistent for over many years. One week, it's Naruto at the top, the next week it could be Bleach. There's no way that an author can be at the top for an extended amount of time: it's fluctuating.

Eiji is running two super popular series at the same time. If you ask me, this equals being at the top right now.

I want them to quit Tanto, but I can't imagine them leaving Jump. It would ruin the whole "Let's change Jump!" thing team Fukuda wants. I think they should keep going with Tanto until the editorial team sees that Shujin is really at a loss for gags and cancels it. At least let it end with a proper ending. It would ruin their credibility if they just quit because the fans wouldn't appreciate it very much, as well.

Mashiro's pride never fails him, but they put themselves in a tight situation.

If I'm the editor in chief, well they have Natural and Crow so who needs Tanto.. I mean if they're talking about business, but the story would be screwed if they kick them out =)

Great great great. I love this chapter. I thought Miura was finally starting to see that what he was doing was wrong, yet he's still pushing for Tanto? What the hell!? And i loved Yamahisa's speech, i completely agree. His life his choices.

Finally Mashiro mans up. It's obvious that they're not going to quit, not for long anyway. It'd be interesting to see them go to another magazine for a little bit, but something would happen that gets them back to jump (although i doubt even this scenerio).

It would be completely unfair for them to just stop Tanto like that. They have fans and they have to stay loyal to them. Each chapter points more and more to them doing two series at once, i'm gonna be disappointed if it doesn't happen now. But if they want to quit Tanto so badly then why not just give it an ending? Like really?

It's very interesting to learn about what happens if a mangaka wants to quit.

It'd be really interesting to see them leave Jump, but that probably won't happen for obvious reasons lol.

i have hard time with how mashiro and takagi presenting the situation, or maybe they explained but we they didn't show it - takagi is struggling very hard making tanto manga, let alone he isn't suit for tanto, he may have fall ill exactly as mashiro for his struggling, it's not only his hitting the wall for less jokes.

and if i'm not wrong, they will give popular manga to end their series once the author thinks the story had reached it's end and don't have anymore to write, unless it's to twist the story in ways he doesn't want to. but i guess i'm wrong since dragon ball for example was dragged too much.

it's unheard though thinking mashiro and takagi will move to another magazine, bakuman published in JUMP, they couldn't let advertise or suggesting something like this.
