If you like sports, MAJOR is really good. It has drama, humor and exciting games. And it's long - the 6th season is coming out next month so you have 5 seasons to catch up to (and a movie).

I might have created a misunderstanding, I'm not really looking for shounens.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato looks good.
I'm not really a big sports fan but I'll give Major a go too.

lol I guess "long anime" immediately brings shounen to mind....
the only long shoujo I watched was Marmalade Boy... cute heartwarming/funny romance, but my taste sure has changed since I watched it ^^

other shows over 24 eps:
Speed Grapher
Gantz (2 seasons = 26 eps)
both are not light or funny, but pretty good drama

good luck finding what you're looking for ^^

I would like to recommend Major, as said by someone else :) The show has a really entertaining story, as well as some great characters. The show is mainly a shounen, but it has hints of both romance, drama and tragedy. The story also manages to progress very well through the whole series, and as far as I know, the show has few to none fillers :)

GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) was really good. It's kind of a combination of what you asked for.
I really couldn't be bothered to come up with a clever signature at this time. So right now I will go ahead and say nay and move on with my business

@Saiensu: I don't think you created a misunderstanding, but just like what myth720 said, long anime usually brings shounen anime to mind (like Bleach or Naruto), NOT always, but useally.

And my list has lots of shounen anime in it ^^'...that's why i mentioned lots of shounen titels.

But a really funny, long shoujo anime, with some drama in it is;

- Super Gals!; with 52 episodes in total.

You gave Aria and Princess Tutu 10s, so Kaleido Star (51 episodes) is a must. It's from the same director as both, has a LOT of the same seiyuu as Aria, and a lot of the core staff worked on either Aria or Princess Tutu. And this isn't mentioning how similar they are in how absolutely heartwarming and happy they are to watch.

Do people just post for self-satisfaction or post count++ or what? He has Legend of the Galactic Heroes in his favorites!

Was there any particular reason that Yu Yu Hakusho did not do it for you? I love the style and action in it, but I suppose even a shounen fan could find it boring, but it is the series I most connect with Dragon Ball, and you rated that a 7 (then again, your mean is a 7.2, so I guess that means maybe you did not love Dragon Ball either!).

I see that Yakitate Japan is on your to watch list, and it is really fun, but a case where the manga is probably slightly superior...it is kind of like an ancillary, really fun viewing experience, but totally unnecessary.
Elsewhere, a somewhat startled Warren Worthington III finds that he has accidentally wandered into an electrified east-side world of post-twist teens and watsui-ing teeny-boppers...

uhhh.... I think you need to recheck that.... >_>
Gintama has 201 episodes... and an OVA

ummm, looking over your list, only series I would particularly recommend you have not already seen is the various Tsubasa Chronicles series, especially the OVAs.

(and who the hell is even checking his list first, so many people keep suggesting stuff he has already seen, or clearly are not gonna be in his interests.)

Oo yeah you're right, sorry, my bad.

But as you can read in my comment, i said that it had 109 episodes SO FAR. Like at the time i posted that comment they were at 109 episodes with the series.

And i also mentioned that it still was a ongoing series or atleast i thought so at that time, and i didn't say that there were only 109 episodes.

Maybe you thought i meant that there were just 109 episodes, i don't know.

Probably a misunderstanding.
