He should've picked a better manga. Still pretty funny nonetheless. If Kubo finds out, this is going to be hilarious. |

I actually read some info about Nick Simmons's work and it turns out to be a mere mini-comic, only 3 issues. So even is plagiarizing Incarnate off of Bleach (I never even heard of or seen all the pages of his comic so I can't determine for myself), I don't think it's really a big deal. It's not like people who are into American comics are going to notice this or even care if they did notice it. Not only that, but not many people into manga comics would care either since people on this site are discovering this 7 months after the mini-comics were first released. Though the weird part is that I would think Tite Kubo isn't going to give a damn since he lives in Japan. Yet apparently, that's not the case since he commented about this on Twitter! Too bad I can't even read what the hell it says. And Viz Media also says they're working on this issue. Though honestly, while plagiarizing is a problem, it's not like it's going to affect sales with the Bleach manga. If anything, Viz should worry more about releasing the Bleach DVDs and manga faster, especially since they have already done so with Naruto and are in the middle of doing so with One Piece. Honestly I doubt that 5 years from now people will care about this. Even Tite Kubo. I mean he's just going to continue making his chapters every week that involves Aizen being ridiculously unbeatable and not having certain characters reappear for the next 50+ chapters. |

Since most American youths hate anime and manga, they will never knew some of American artists do some dirty jobs by copying some manga. Hell even character designs itself are carbon copy of Bleach. |

Only for someone to come along and try and make a quick buck off your "finished" product? Sorry, but I'd be pretty pissed if that happened to me as well. It shouldn't matter WHERE Kubo Tite lives either =/ Okay hold on a minute. I want to clarify something right here and now. I never said it was not wrong that he plagiarized off of Tite Kubo's work. Nor did I say it was right. I also want to clarify that as an aspiring artist, I would normally find this as a bad thing. If as an aspiring animator I made animations to show off to the internet and someone reuploaded the animation, claiming it as their own, then I would be pissed. However understand my perspective as to why I said what I said earlier (and you don't have to agree with me on this either, this is just my opinion). Now, how does the fact a comic artist, who has barely made his way into the edge of the comic business by making a story that has only lasted 3 issues for several months (thus being short-lived), ultimately affect the mangaka of Bleach and Hellsing and Viz Media? Did they lose money? Did they lose fans? Did Nick Simmons even have a fanbase to begin with for his artwork? Now if say this incident happened 5-7 years ago, where the anime adaptation of Tite Kubo's manga just started, then yes, I would find that as a problem. If say Nick Simmons chose to do another comic series after Incarnate and is still consistently plagiarizing off of Bleach or anything else, then I personally don't think he can get away with that. But the way I see it, when a manga artist has a comic that has become so popular, it has been adapted to a 250+ episode anime, 3 movies (and an upcoming fourth one), several video games, action figures, card games, and a musical, a small-time comic that lasted as long as Zombie powder (Kubo's other manga) and without any franchise behind it, doesn't seem to pose as a problem. Besides, obviously he has fans of Bleach that are aware of who is the original and who is the poser (the poser being Nick Simmons). It's like due to the popularity of Bleach, it has already been watermarked, so people would know by now who has the original comic art style. |

Hypeathon: You miss the point. It's not how this would possibly "damage" the sales on Bleach, but merely the fact that what Nick has done here is illegal. Taking credit and making a career out of other peoples work is dishonest, and it isn't any less of a crime because those who are ripped off are rich/famous. |

Look, I'm aware of all of that what he did was wrong morally and illegally! You're pretty much saying exactly what, everyone else said. Thus what's your point? Are you trying to tell me something I don't know? I mean what part of I'm not defending him and merely giving my opinion of how the situation affects Tite Kubo does everyone not understand?! I'm giving off my point, not the point. If Nick Simmons is going to be hold accountable for all of this, then fine, whatever! No skin off of my bones really since the guy set it upon himself and even if he somehow didn't copy off of Bleach and Hellsing deliberately, he shouldn't have been so careless about it. I didn't even know Nick Simmons does artwork, nor do I care for his work since I never even saw it before. Hell, I'm not even a fan of Kiss. Anyway, I already made my opinion on the matter and already stated that if you or anyone else disagrees with this, then fine. You didn't have to agree with it. And on a side note, apparently Tite Kubo himself doesn't seem to care all that much about the issue at hand. He's suprised that Nick Simmons even does comic art. |

Hypeathon: I'm really not repeating what anyone here said. I mostly responded to this part: Hypeathon said: But the way I see it, when a manga artist has a comic that has become so popular, it has been adapted to a 250+ episode anime, 3 movies (and an upcoming fourth one), several video games, action figures, card games, and a musical, a small-time comic that lasted as long as Zombie powder (Kubo's other manga) and without any franchise behind it, doesn't seem to pose as a problem. So, my point is that you (at least from how I'm reading your post, anyway) is making it look that there is a correlation between fame/sales and the issue of the crime. So no, I'm not trying to shed some new light over this case, because it's a mess of an Internet sensation and this issue has been discussed too many times already. I merely responded to parts of your post which might cause confusion, and evidently did, considering the people who responded to you. I'm also aware of the fact that you meant this as a separate issue, and was talking about something unrelated to legality issues. But it still manages to cause confusion, even when you state that it's your opinion. Reading through other comment sections, there is a lot of zealots who think it is acceptable and not illegal to trace/copy other works to this extent. As for the point you made about this not hurting the sales of the Bleach manga/anime; I agree, but at the same time I find it hardly as relevant as the other issue at hand (also because I have little interest over the sales numbers). Summarized, your posts seemed to contradict itself, but it didn't because you made two points that had little to do with each other. |

He says that they linked him to the site or something like that. Any way, the part that I'm not understanding well is the sentence with "doumo" in it. He's either thanking the American fans for bringing it to his attention, or thanking Nick Simmons, in an "imitation is the highest form of compliment" kinda way. I'm leaning toward thanking the fans for notifying him, since I can't gather much proof of the other thing from what little I can read. |

This is a rough Translation of what Tite Kubo said in his first Twitter post- Run from last night in this morning what is; and from a terrible numerical overseas fan [there are comics imitating BLEACH in U.S.A.!]A]-like reply became available. The reason that it took so long to find out about, is it was not a mass produced peice. Apparently, it's original release was at the San Deigo Comic Con, of last year. That being said, comic fans can be devided into three catagories. Those who don't read manga, those who read only manga, and those that read both. Believe me when I say, those who read both, are likely far few between. So, with a limited release, and only a select few of those who read American comics, also being familiar with manga, I am surprised that it was found out before the real public realease, which was scheduled about mid time this year. Wikipedia says this on the comic page. "Tite Kubo, the author of Bleach, one of the mangas specifically named, has made a Twitter post twice on the situation, first to comment on the number of people outside of Japan commenting on the accusations and later to note that he is more concerned about the fact that Gene Simmons's son is a comic creator than he is in whether any of his work was actually copied." Yeah, it is insulting to get ones work plagerized, but what is more insulting to any artist and/or writer, to have those who plagerize work, to call themselves professionals. Fan doujini and fanfiction, is flattering, and can help boost sales, and get lesser known works out there. Also, these people, the ones who care about the craft, don't go tracing and stealing the plot from other people's work. They use their own skill. That is the real issue here. Little kids get away with tracing pictures, because they are little kids, and it is true flattery. CGers who color parts of black and white comics, get away with it, because they are upfront, it isn't their own work, and that they are coloring it, for their's and others enjoying pleasure. That to, is flattery. What Nick Simmons did, isn't flattery... |
