What does a waifu mean to you?
Would you change your waifu if you found a prettier and more perfect one?
Is it okay for you to have multiple waifus?

I often see many fans changing their waifus frequently. Some even choose ecchi characters. Of course, that's not wrong as long as you happy with it. I'm just curious about your opinion.

To me, waifu is a character I would marry if I could find her in real life. One and only, irreplaceable.
if I am not royal I feel it is the same as me not respecting women (even though they are not real XD).

A character that I have actual romantic attraction toward.

Absolutely NOT to both! I actually take it seriously unlike most people nowadays. I don't talk about my waifu here very often because of this.

It's a virtual wife, which means you should feel romantic attraction towards them. Which, is probably why I don't have any.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Waifu is quite an interesting term because it's a loanword of a loanword. First the english word "wife" is written in japanese katakana as ワイフ(waifu) and that term was loaned back to english as non-japanese fans called their favorite female characters "waifu". It's a silly term to begin with so it has a loose meaning. I personally use the term very loosely calling any anime girl I find sexy as waifu. Some people use the term more specifically, only calling their favorite characters waifu or even more specifically someone they would want to marry.

Interestingly enough I don't know of any japanese equivalent of "waifu". If you say ワイフ in japanese it's just the english loanword wife. In meaning the closest is japanese otaku calling their favorite female characters 「俺の嫁」(my bride). But that term has a more specific meaning of "a girl I want to marry".

Females of the fictional variety that make my pants tight more than other characters. Let's use, say Bleach as example. Orihime doesn't count, because there's some tightness, but not maximum tightness. Yoruichi gives maximum tightness, so she is waifu material.

What does a waifu mean to you?

The ideal personality for a girl I'd like to be with.

Would you change your waifu if you found a prettier and more perfect one?

Not impossible, but almost near impossible since I've found the perfect waifu in my eyes. Although, "prettier" will have no bearing on it if it ever ends up happening.

Is it okay for you to have multiple waifus?

No, I can have multiple favourite female characters, but only one true waifu.

@RainyEvenings Waifu Love It’s not just about romance for me, it’s about paying respecting to the waifu.
One can admire a waifu’s fashion style, her trauma, her power and strength, her thirst for fights and kicking ass or her bloodlust and cruelty or ability to bench press a Harley Davidson.

@LostSpectre you don't have one? That's interesting.
Actually, I chose my waifu because I love everything about her and I also learned a lot from her. An ideal wife.
But I don't know if I have a romantic attraction or not (if I do, probably a little).

It's one-way love. Todokanai koi. The bigger your love, the more it hurts :)

my interpretation of the word "waifu" is any female character i would want to marry, if a situation that would allow for such an event ever occurred...for example, if i were to get isekai'd into an anime like DxD for example, and had the opportunity to take issei's place and marry Rias...i totally would...because Rias is a top tier waifu.

would i ever change my waifu?...no. i only add to the list of characters i consider waifus.

is it okay to have multiple waifus?...guess that depends on if your waifus would allow it, assuming they are real...and damn near all the characters i consider waifus are from anime/manga where the MC has a harem sooo...yeah

What does a waifu mean to you?

A anime character that I would like to have as my wife and a interestingly made woman that makes me enjoy their screen time within watching their series.

Would you change your waifu if you found a prettier and more perfect one?

If they are more enjoyable, great writing, and appealing appearance than sure.

Is it okay for you to have multiple waifus?

Yes, there's no limit.

Only 1 waifu for laifu.
You have to pick one, and hard commit prematurely, with little to no context of what else is out there!

Waifus to me are my most favourite female characters, also ones that I'm romantically attached too. That's my interpretation of them, but I don't think it's universal.
I don't have a problem with people having multiple waifus (I have 2) although I think it could lessen the importance of them the more of them people have, in my opinion.
I'm never changing my current ones, I feel quite confident in that, and I've had the same pair for about 8 or 9 years now without change.

@Zarutaku The human species has a 50/50 spawn rare for both genders.
That's about it really, but that has a lot of cultural consequences, like how you need to take care of your kids for a really long time before they are self sustaining, that's only really viable if the parents have the same interests, no jealousy and all that in the mix.
Even in Muslim countries where polygamy is legal it's generally avoided, considered a frivolous privilege of the rich, and it's also highly regulated, specifically because of how bad of a minefield it is.

@Zarutaku I want my wife to be the happiest person. I'll try hard to make it happens.
Having more than one wife means failure/ impossible before it even begins.

that's what i think irl which i also apply to waifu.

Waifu is a biologically female candidate that I can see myself marrying if she is/becomes real or there is someone already out there that is similar.
I view it more as a ranking system of increasing desire to marry such character rather than one to be all. Certain aspects as the show/story develops further from sequels that changed said character enough could alter her ranking which is why I don't view that things should be set in stone.
If a more qualified character is out there, then that character will then rise above the current #1
Yes. It isn't necessary to have limitations. Unless your character can travel through universes/time/space, each franchise that isn't connected via crossover are its own world so it would make sense to have multiple waifus as long as they don't share the same one. There isn't any form of "betrayal" in the sense that they won't be able to transport to your world anyways if they don't have the capability to do so even if they were to become "real" in their world. It becomes even more absurd if the waifu in particular already has a romantic interest that you only limit yourself to one OR waifu dies in the franchise (limiting yourself to that one)

What if your wife would be happy having the company of other women who she likes? They would all support each other, and ideally even love each other.

@Zarutaku Approximately all of those men correspond to one unmarried woman with furbabies, that might have had an easier time getting into the dating market while young, but ultimately ended up just as lonely and miserable as the forever alone men.

Polyamorous relationships can and do work. All these familial analogies make me wonder if folks here want to raise whole anime families. I think you would have to adopt because 3D can't reproduce with 2D.

@Zarutaku Raising babies is a huge responsibility that needs both parents to do whenever possible.

@Zarutaku nah that's probably impossible to happen bro (specially at modern time)
the more your partner loves you, the greater his jealousy. Mostly it will lead to divorce XD

Btw actually it worked in mushoku tensei. Even so It's hurt sylphiette a lot when rudeus bring Roxy.

It means someone who has kind personality and/or well-developed, those are the ones I can fall in love even if it's just fiction.

Would you change your waifu if you found a prettier and more perfect one?

I think my list of favorite waifu is pretty much settled, so I don't think I'll be switching them out soon.

Yes, but only one remains as my best waifu of all time.

I don't know, I'm 777 anime in, and I finally found my first waifu, and I met her in a manga, lol. So I don't think I will be changing it anytime soon, as they seem exceptionally rare to find. I guess she just embodied everything I enjoy in a character. She is a character I wish I got to spend more time with, and I actually felt a little sad that her story was over. Most girls I move on from when the next anime comes around, I mean, I still like them, and will occasionally rewatch their shows now and again, but if I had to choose for all anime to be abolished from the world, except one, it would be the one with her in it. I used to struggle making a top 10 list, because there were so many girls that I liked, that I couldn't decide between them, but once she came along, it wasn't so hard anymore. They can all be in my harem, but she would be my Queen.
