They really didn't waste time for this show. Right off the bat, we got some Digimon battles.

Not sure how I feel about the characters yet since this had plenty of action. Seeing these Digimon is also refreshing and there's a variety of them. Digievolving in the middle of that fight was epic. I wasn't expecting Waspmon to emerge like that.

Outside of the battles, it looks like there's the Digi-device stuff and other flashy techs. Seems their world is quite advanced in technology. I'm impressed really, at least by their world setting. A good start imo, lots to build around for this season.

Digimon Time Strangers also released this week so yeah, Digimon is BACK!

Imo, Xros Wars was really the last good series. 14 years ago... Wow. Time sure flies.

@deg @MahiaErebeaNegi I had actually already thought about this possibility, even because I live in Yokohama, I'm partially Japanese, but even when I just watched a new episode, this guy usually still manages to post first, so I always imagine that either he also lives in Japan but doesn't watch the entire episode and creates the thread even without watching it completely or by other means, but anyway...

I am not sure what I think so far. I understand what is being done here with the setup just going more scifi in trying to explain the connection between digimon and humans in a more technological way. Most of this was just pure intro so I guess I have to wait.

I like the human character designs. I am unsure if I will like Gekkomon or be annoyed by him.

I still don't know what will be the direction of this anime. Will it be a rockband Digimon? Or even a Whiplash Digimon? But I'm glad this franchise is still as strong as ever even almost 3 decades have passed.

Music is always the unique point of all Digimon anime (I'd say even more important than "goggles") and I'm relieved that Beatbreak also has kickass soundtrack, even if it has more EDM element than older Digimon anime.

Good start for the series.

Thanks to the Digimon franchise back in 2020 during the quarantine (having of course watched Adventure as a kid), I dove into the world of anime, and I’m really glad to see that everything is continuing — both with the anime and the new game.

I hope the story will have better continuity compared to Ghost Game (even though I enjoyed following it as it was).

I’m also glad that Megumi Han got the chance to play the role of the main Digimon.

it took a little bit of time to introduce the protagonist but starting the show with a good battle action right of the bat was really cool. It gave us an idea on what to expect in this department. Animation-Quality 10/10

About the main character and his digimon i don´t know what to think of them as of yet, i'll have to wait for the next episode since they'll have more screen time.

Loved the episode btw

PS: I will rate this show as a "masterpiece" to increase the score a little bit, 6.61 is kinda... unfair? Still don't know why this platform let people score so early after a release.

I enjoyed the episode, not sure about how I feel about the human or Digimon main cast yet. This and time stranger both hype me up for more Digimon. Also the soundtrack is great.

I'm quite surprised. For months, it's been touted as a more adult and darker Digimon, with a non-episodic plot, and so far, it's looking good.

They should change it so that ratings can only be given once the series is complete. It doesn't make sense to be able to vote for a series based only on the first episode.

How is the rating so low?
It was an awesome start, and is setting it's self up to be a more mature and wide reaching anime that can help bring more fans into Digimon as a series.

Personally think the whole, egg focused society is absolutely hilarious though how wildly impractical I love it

@KillerWatts For some reason, this is the norm in translations. I suppose it's because in the West we usually call our brothers by their first names. Although I would prefer that they respect the original script, it also bothers me to hear brother in Japanese and read the name instead xd

I like the artstyle a lot. It's not outdated like Colon, it feels less childish and generic than Ghost Game, and it has more personality than Kizuna.

And I like the pacing. It got a little quick towards the end there, but I appreciate that the show is slowly easing us into things. Dropping hints as to what the world is like, instead of overexplaining things or not saying anything at all. It's a weird complaint, but a lot of anime nowadays just throw so much into their first episodes, and it ruins the pacing because they have to throw in a bunch of exposition. I guess that's the benefit of having 48+ episodes to tell your story, as opposed to 12-24.

The OP and ED are good. And from the OP, it looks like we'll have a lot more plot and more of a focus on antagonists. Like I feel bad for hating on Ghost Game since that show still had good characters, Digimon, animation and themes, but I just DO NOT want another 50+ monster of the week story where nothing happens at all.

It's a new Digimon season and you know what that means. Yes, a new gimmick this time being ePulse, one that tunes in human emotions and thoughts with AI in order for people to deal with their daily routine. Of course, that comes at the cost of Digimon lurking in the shadows and feeding off them. Apparently once they feed from a human completely they freeze to death? Is that right? Well Tomoro has seen it twice in the span of this episode and next time will team up with Gekkomon in order to beat up those wolves.

I like the approach for now, the animation style is a bit different, the opening song is upbeat and there's also a layer of catching bad guys in the background. Hopefully with the theming around beats the soundtrack is up to the task.

Forgot to mention on my early reply.

The only thing i didn´t like about this episode was the rushed Pristimon evolution. Imo it should not have happened right at the first episode and so quickly, Wolvermon looked really weak for a champion level, was getting his ass kicked by a rookie.

(Im also not a fan of his design, however his rookie form looks really cool)

Did they really create a team of four characters with: cute gecko, cute red panda, cute bat and big bipedal furry bait? At least Renamon or Gaomon were cute, charismatic.
Either way, I liked the episode and I already like Gekkomon. I also like the pun in his name, because gekko means moonlight. Chiropmon is also cute. And even though I'm not fan of red pandas, I liked... what was his name, again? Either way, he looks cute. Main character... well, too early to say anything. But I knew his brother will die. Like, ffs, it's such an overused trope. It was obvious the moment he appeared. I also wonder if Hitomi... that was her name(?) is relevant or just random girl. Because she isn't one of the Cleaners, but if she wasn't relevant, would she get that much attention in the scene? Beatbreak is a little like Tamers. I mean, we also had organization hunting "wild ones" and first scene was Culumon running away. It started similarly. But I must add that I don't like one thing. Futurism. I loved more oldschool atmosphere in old Digimon series. Especially the ones that didn't have direct reference to reality. Like, Ghost Game had Twitter, Reddit and so on. It had real USB ports etc. I don't like. I want my cartoons to be less realistic. And futurism is something that could make it copy paste of our reality again. I hope not. Either way, first episode get me hyped up. Also this episode made me like funbeemon. Wasn't a fan, but it's really cute digimon.

I liked it, it feels quite different, liked a lot the designs of the partner Digimon we were show and Gekkomon is a bit of a cute rascal, I hope the show ends up being good and doesn't disappoint like Ghost Game (which I also liked but the story went nowhere at the end), Digibros eating good this month with this and Time Stranger.

I think that this is the best 1st episode of a Digimon series so far.

All the main characters as showed, we have some world building about the tecnology, the age / year that the story is set, the meeting of the leader and his Digimon, some insights about how the society is segregated and even the possible origin of this season's Digivice. We even got the evolution sequence of one of the digimons for the next level.

Also the little narrative before the opening and the cliffhanger in the episode was a awsome way to open the show.

@deg His eyes were clearly the eyes of someone dead, plus the fall to the ground, and being unconscious in the water... If he didn't die from the bite or the fall, he will die from drowning.

Plus, It's important to the plot, to give him a motivation to get revenge and wipe out all the Digimon. If he really didn't die, then I'm going to drop this anime.

I want to watch a dark Digimon series, where people are killed and shady things happen (And I wish there was gore, the """closest""" thing was Digimon tri), I don't want a children's show.

@deg I'm not talking about real-life logic, I'm talking about the way the shine goes out of his eyes, an effect used in anime to represent death, and coupled with my wish that he really died. I would be negatively surprised if he turns up alive in the next episode (or later), it would kill all the hype.
