It was a good arc, 4 episodes.

I was surprised that we were watching the Ikumi of the other world and not the Ikumi of this world.

So both Ikumi were happy that they were both in their non-world

Again, this arc would have been way better off in season 01/movies, when Sakuta was in high school, and not now almost 4 years later since he graduated middle school. I mean, who attends a middle school reunion four years after graduating middle school? Its only high school that has many reunions years after graduating.

And its good to see the high school once again, even if empty

And really??? Mai is in danger again? And let me guess = if shes in danger, Sakuta will be the one to save her.

And if Mai is in danger, then tell us how is she in danger!!!!!!!

And I dont know why Sakuta decided to act a bit too extra at the reunion in the end. I would have preferred if he simply said that he has moved on with his life and that he doesnt hold any grudges with anyone anymore, and also saying that he is dating Mai.

Also, it was really subtle because the studio/production team is barely making effort to attention to detail in this new season = With the little-Mai that appeared in this episode 07 at the end on the train-tracks, not only was she wearing a different outfit, but she also looked slightly older than the little-Mai that we have seen in the previous movies and episode 04 of this new season.

But again, it was a nice arc, since it kept itself mature and it had connections with movie-3 and Sakuta's past. This arc should have been the first arc in this new season and no Uzuki arc

And now that I think about it, we rarely/never saw both Sara and Miori in this Ikumi arc; they just disappeared.

And sadly, the next arc is Sara's arc (the high school first year student), that should be meh, especially after this Ikumi arc. We the audience dont want to follow a first year high school student around, especially one who doesnt have a connection to the male MC or anyone from season 01-movies. I mean, if youre gonna have a high school girl that needs saving, then it would have been better if that girl was the best friend of Kaede (the glasses girl) and not this Sara girl.

And by looking at the preview of the next episode 08, it looks like Santa girl will appear but in normal clothes and not with her Santa outfit.

I don't know what took Crunchyroll so long to upload this episode, but at least its here now. Looks like the different timelines theory was true after all and this is the same Ikumi from the last movie.

This arc was perfectly wrapped up, the explanation about Ikumi's whole thing was so easy to understand, the writings, the poltergeist. Forget having memories of the other world, it was literally her in that body, no matter which of the 2 worlds she's in, she has regrets about Sakuta.
Now that everything is resolved, hope she can live comfortably in both worlds~

Sakuta always bragging about Mai since the season started was a build up/foreshadowing for this, so he can brag about her in the reunion lol

I remember the Sakuta of the other timeline also wrote something about Kirishima Touko in Sakuta's (this timeline's) notes in Movie 3, so that was a warning about Mai being in danger. I guess it is a good thing that Ikumi is here, because she can basically communicate with the other world.

Himeji Sara next arc, excited for what she'll be adding to this masterpiece.

Now I watched this episode with friends who have read the manga so I had some insight as to what this episode meant but I feel sorry for those watching without that insight as it does kind of make it difficult to understand. But overall that was a fantastic way to tell the tale of Akagi, bravo

Someone please tell me when does Sakuta go to this other timeline where he meets the alternate ikumi. I am not able to wrap my head around it. I have watched all the previous movies and episodes as soon as it came out and i am currently not able to afford a rewatch. I don't remember him going to another timeline.

This arc ended up being confusing as shit. It's reliant on the viewer remembering stuff that happened in the first movie from six years ago, remembering a character that barely even appeared in that, being able to deduce the world-hopping stuff without having much if any information about the character doing it and then actually caring about the final outcome. That's a lot to ask of most viewers, and really shows how this franchise has completely shot itself in the foot with its release schedule and format: the movie releases between this and the first season dragged things out for much more real world time than was necessary, completely stalling the franchise's momentum in the progress.

And if everything from here is going to be contingent on remembering events and characters that we haven't seen for years, that's going to be a big problem. It's annoying as well, as I was really enjoying this arc until this final episode just made everything extremely confusing.

Also, I really hate the idea of the Puberty Syndrome coming from "Santa Claus" rather than from the characters' personal struggles. Turning character-driven drama into the workings of some villain is an utterly baffling choice, however I look at it.

Akagi's magic trick was impressive and all, but what's far more impressive is the way you thought these bollards were in the foreground until the car driving by proved they were actually perspective paintings on the road and curb! Pranked!

You’re watching a fantasy/drama show…

It expects you to do atleast a rewatch. Do you expect Attack On Titan to just become a fun SOL show with no tie backs to the first season in Season 2 because it took 4 years to make? No. It’s called a story.

Use the singular brain cell you have to at least have a good argument.

@_MushiRock11_ "Our" world and the "Other" world. There are two worlds. We are watching the anime from "our" world.

In this arc, we were watching Ikumi from the "other" world, meaning the Ikumu that we were shown in movie-3

On the other hand, the Ikumi that appeared at the party in the end in this episode, she is the Ikumi from "our" world.

At the start of college, both Ikumi's got transported to the other Ikumi's world. So now the Ikumi from the "other" world is a college student in our world, while the Ikumi from "our" world is now living the life of the "Other" Ikumi in the other world.

As for Loli Mai, whenever you see Loli Mai, thats when you know that someone/something from the other world is happening. Loli-Mai is like the person who opens up the doors that connect both "our" world and the "other" world.

Loli-Mai appeared at the end because she took the Ikumi from the "other" world, who was living in "our" world, back to her "other" world. And Loli-Mai also brought back the Ikumi from "our" world, who was living in the "other" world, back to "our" world.

Why was Ikumi (Our) invisible in the Reunion? (Sorry this might be obvious to y'all but my thought processing isn't it 😭)
@TararuSama The reason why she was not visible in the middle-school-reunion is something that was mentioned in the Light Novel that for some reason it was not mentioned in the anime.

So I might as well "spoil" you, since the anime decided to skip this information and will never let us know:

have a question ik the laws of physics in this show don't apply exactly like they should because it's just a show but still I have a doubt so, basically at the end of the first movie we were explained that the timeline had split when shoko had changed the past and where in one timeline shoko and everyone was alive (which is the current timeline) and one where shoko dies. so now in the recent arc it is showed to us that akagi comes from the universe where shoko dies (as there the events where shoko meets sakuta when her sister gets puberty syndrome take place so it is understood that she had later died there in accident after first movie events) now as we saw in last ep sakuta is warned by sakuta from the universe that he needs to find touko kerishima because mai san is in danger but touko should not exist in that universe as we saw in first ep of s2 where shoko asks sakuta about toko kerishima and that she has not seen her in any other futures that means she should not be exist in the other universe (where sakuta got warning from). I am just asking for a logical explanation?

Yeah the final episode of the "Nightingale Arc" was very complex but also great.

Here some earlier moments of the show were connected with each other in order to explain the relationship between Akagi and Sakuta. This was (for me) a little bit complex, but the whole thing seemd logically and brought a good conclusion to the story arc.

In this regard, Sakuta managed to get to the bottom ofAkagi's secret (with her beeing the version of another world) at Minegahara Highschool. Here their conversation became increasingly interesting and complex too, but I liked the parallels to some of their earlier scenes. As far as I could understand Akagi switches places because he couldn't help him in her world, so everything she did was not was she wanted and then she found her perfect self, like Sakuta did before (at the Knapsack Kid Arc). I found the parallels to the Knapsack Kid movie remarkable here, and the younger Mai-san completed the whole thing.

Finally Sakuta was also able to solve Akagis puperty syndrome and bring her true self back to their reality at the "Alumni meeting". I enjoyed and liked how he stood in front of his old classmates and showed off with his relationship to Mai-san, leaving them all speechless. His departure was just great.

When he and Akagi talked to each other at the end, you could tell that they get along better and everything seems to be solved. On the other hand, the scene between Mai-Ssan and Sakuta after the credits was so sweet, until Akagi interrupted them and informed that Saktua (from another world) said that Mai-san is in danger.
The tension here rises again until the next arc starts...

Well crunchyroll never put the episode up, but finally was able to watch it. One of my fave aobuta episodes so far. Akagi’s arc was awesome and she’s such a loveable character. I wanna give her the biggest hug ever for suffering in silence for so long.

“I found you Akagi” and then the disappearance as the train comes?? Don’t give me Anohana flashbacks please!

Yamane Aya did such a good job voicing her, I just love that more realistic subdued style of talking they went with for her. Made the classroom scene/parallel world reveal hit so much harder. Also, the class reunion scene was brilliant as well. The way Sakuta took the spotlight/pressure off her by acting like a dick and bragging about Mai was really sweet. Comes as no surprise why all these girls keep falling for him lol. Whether or not the other students believe in puberty syndrome or not, doesn’t matter. Akagi got the weight off her shoulders and that’s all that matters.

She can finally start moving forward, letting the past be the past and being optimistic for what’s to come. Really like the pep talk Sakuta gave her!

That ending tho! Mai’s in danger? From who/what? You can’t leave me on a cliffhanger like that. Also, can we get an aobuta vn with multiple routes for the girls like Oregairu? Please and thanks lol

Funny you should say that, since I was getting Oregairu flashbacks when Sakuta did the whole villain speech at the reunion in order to deflect attention from Ikumi. Unfortunately, unlike when Hachiman does similar things, I don't really understand how Sakuta's thing actually helped the situation here? I feel like whatever progress Ikumi made in changing people's minds about how to treat people is now overshadowed by people just being confused and irritated.

Ya know does this season really need to exist? All the character drama/relationship stuff surrounding Sakuta and his family/friends have been resolved with the 3 movies. The first arc here was about a minor character who has very little to do with Sakuta and puberty even less so. The second arc is related to Sakuta's past, but as they aptly pointed out, it's very old news and Sakuta and his sister have completely moved past it. But Akagi who was only tangentially related to the issue struggled so much her whole life? Come on girl it had nothing to do with you. And now they've turned puberty syndrome from a fun, supernatural way to dramatize coming of age type of struggles into a final boss santa clause who hands them out like presents? Come on man, it used to be personal. Now it's a cheesy villain.
@ProofByColor I'm glad so many people are still enjoying it, but like you I'm also missing the feel of S1. Part of what made it great back then was how we'd get little bread crumbs of information about all the supporting characters interspersed in each other's arcs and continue to see them progress after their arcs, but by the end of S1 and the movies it felt like all those mysteries had already been exhausted. So new storylines and conflicts seem to kind of just materialize out of thin air rather than build in the background like they used to, which is less satisfying and doesn't allow you to get as invested in the arcs when they arrive.

So Akagi changed position with an Akagi in another world? And now the Sakuta from the other world send a message to his other self. Does that mean that puberty syndrome in general is always connected to that other world? Confusing as always.

Flexing I am dating Sakurajima Mai infront of those shitty "classmates" is huge W. Not to mention the one ignored and ostracized ended being the most happy.

Ikumi's desire to run away manifested as a dimension swap between her and her alternate universe self. Even if both of them liked the new universes they were in, Ikumi didn't feel right about it. Thus she challenged Sakuta and he was able to figure it out.

Sakuta's Reunion exit was grand. His former classmates don't have to accept Puberty Syndrome is real, but they do have to live with the fact that they're still stewing over something he's moved on from.

Mai's in danger and Touko Kirishima is the key to resolving that. I wonder what the other universes Sakuta has been through to leave such a ominous message!

Man, Futaba's casual outfit for this episode was so good. A shame she only appeared for a couple of minutes.

Also, love the fact of Sakuta having that magazine hidden all day long just in case Ikumi actually stabbed him lol.

Overall, better than Uzuki's arc, which was already solid enough in my book. I liked Ikumi as a character and the regrets she experienced felt relatable enough as well.
And on a side note, I now wonder if we will meet AU Sakuta someday. Because the details we know of him really make him sound like he's an absolute chad.

Yep she was from the other timeline as I thought but nice twists and reveals. Well done stuff. Really liked what Akagi did for Sakuta but fuck Sakuta had to play the clown again. That ending though. Mai san be safe. Dont want stuff like the movie again. Too emotional. I'm guessing that girl giving bitch vibes from before is involved somehow. Also that I found you Ikumi reminded me of Anohana.

How to overcome their past was an integral theme of this Anime series. In this episode, a simple, but powerful solution was found. The acting of Yamane and Ishikawa was great. Animations are very beautiful, but their voices are also persuasive and emotional.
