Yeah, good for Kyle on saving the princess but this really felt like something darker brewing from the background.

It was a blend celebration imo. The invitation for Kyle to join the royal guard is kinda surprising. He gave the most Kyle-esque answer as possible even if it was a "joke".

We're halfway through the season and despite a better than average animation, I don't think this anime is that good.

So, was everything up until half this episode an adaptation of volume one?

I feel sorry for Zentos. After these events, he probably decided that serving such assholes in crowns was impossible.
The princess seems smart, yet she acts foolishly. Why was it necessary to write a document confirming a verbal marriage agreement? To give a neighbor a reason to go to war?
They could have sent an ambassador to claim ignorance, deny the existence of any documents, and assert that the king they had spoken to had suddenly died.
Thank goodness the main character's sword is better at politics than the princess. Perhaps she can advise on how to resolve this issue.

It was time for the king to rest and vacate the throne, and Kyle had arranged it for him, along with the army of degenerates supporting such a bastard on the throne.

Definitely tough when someone you respected and learned from is someone you had to take down.
I wasn't expecting the king himself to be the mastermind though, that was quite a twist.
Either way Kyle and his party have the full support of the princess.

I didn't see that coming.. King is the one who wants to kill his own daughter... but that explain why zentos did what he did, because no one else can made him do it.

I guess Zentos was the type of guy that Kyle had 0 chance of getting to join up with him based on Kyle's information? Kinda feels like a waste of a very useful warrior, and losing warriors you want to save might land you in the same spot of having won the war, but at a cost you find hard to swallow.

I thought it was unnecessary for him to have killed his master, and I felt sleepy during the episode, I don't know if I should continue

Interesting plot twist with the king being behind the attempted murder of his daughter, talk about an unhinged guy. Regarding Kyle, he and his party may be walking into a political issue considering the princess (now queen I believe) has sent Kyle to inform her fiancé that their marriage is being called off.

I actually enjoyed this episode. It fits Kyle's character desperately trying to change the future even if it means assassinating the king. He didn't even look like he was guilty about any of it the next day after. It made it even better showing he's willing to do anything for his goal.

Wow, that was a quick duel. Really sad tho. Kyle had to slain his master, someone who he wanted to keep alive.

13:40 oh thank god Kyle got rid of that piece of shit King too. I remembered he was evil. If only it wasn’t for him, Zentos would still be alive 🥲

@Moppit Assassinating the king was an amazing idea ngl, one that can only be a plus given how incompetent - no, malicious - the guy seemed to be. But Zentos was a waste. Well, take one lose one I guess, because it seemed like he was a major asset during the demon invasion in the old timeline.

@LucenProject nah it just show this is not that generic, otherwise that trope would follow, he'll learn the reason why zentos is helping the Prince and then convince him to switch side but he found out after already killing zentos

that also the same reason he had no choice because he knows his personality and that he can't afford to go to some lengths at this moment because there's a bigger picture in motion

this episode also broke another trope, if mc was generic he would've told the princess what he know or worse confront the king with witnesses but nah, he's being extremely efficient for the big picture

it's really just the low budget animation as to why people aren't giving this a chance

@Haunt88 I don't know. I think the most generic for reincarnation, time loop, and isekai stories is that people ALWAYS hide the truth from almost everyone either by choice ("People will think I'm crazy" or "I have to hide the truth to reach my objective") or by plot device that keeps them from telling (can't talk about Return by death).

I feel like telling would have been the best way forward. "I know these things about you even though we just met. Things an assassin wouldn't know, but a friend/a student would. And I don't care why you wanted to kill the princess, but something much, MUCH bigger is coming for all of us, so we have to work together to stop it." He still hasn't told any of his companions either. They always hide it.

I know getting the enemy on your side is definitely also generic, but I'd have liked to see Zentos and Kyle having to deal with Zentos' kingdom coming after them for his betrayal. I'd like to see how both the girls react to having died or married him in his timeline. Who will he pick (not that we need that romance), the one he never got a chance with last time, or the one he loved last time, or someone else? Will they believe him, how will knowing about that alternate future change how they see him, or make them worry about how he sees them? "Does he really love me or does he just feel guilty that he couldn't save me before?" "Do I really love him, or am I just getting swept up by the future he told me about? Afterall, I haven't experienced that future, so should it even matter to me that I loved him and told him my true name there/then?"

So much could be built off of just telling what you know to people you can trust.

Kyle killing the king was definitely a plot twist I didn't see coming, nice that the anime continues to feel unique in the moments where Kyle shows hidden cynical depths caused by his other life beneath the outwardly goody-two shoes facade, much like last episode when he forced Theron to kill the guards.

That said, it really felt to me that Kyle has already achieved sufficiently familiarity with the princess that he probably could have attempted to tell her what he knew of the future. Wasn't the whole point of becoming the hero to gain access to someone with enough authority to get the kingdom ready for the upcoming attack? His ability to defeat Zentos, his knowledge of the assassination, and his possession of the dragon heart should be plenty to back up his story if she doesn't believe him, plus he could always "predict" a few more events as proof, though it would have to be things that aren't affected by the change in kingdom rulership. Something like a weather event or maybe something in another nation.

Anyways, a bit inexplicable, much like him missing the opportunity to tell his mom, the archmage. Also there is at least reason to believe that he should know enough about Zentos that he could have made Zentos believe him, and perhaps ended the duel once Zentos (who is loyal to the kingdom) understands that the kingdom is in dire peril. If his plan is to convince someone with enough power to help stop the invasion, why does he keep NOT telling the powerful people he has relationships with? Unless the "reason" is just to force the plot down the route the author wants, and the author prefers the wandering adventure party over the show gaining more strategic aspects....

I thought the anime was only moderately good.
This episode surprised me. The “hero” who kills for the greater good.
Finally, this anime is showing some character.
If they maintain this determination, it could become really good.

I had a slight suspicion that the king would be involved with the plan to kill the princess...but DAMN Kyle I did not think you would straight up end him like that.

But I guess if you know he will cause the downfall of a nation and also cause his mentor grief his actions are fair. It's good to see the MC using his knowledge of the future for good and actually doing something with it :}

Oh lord some dumb sword fight... "With my next attack I'll.."
it almost put me to sleep
It's reached peak-edge lord now with "Kyle the hero" murdering the king... so by scheming with people to overthrow a king and install someone else, how is he doing anything different than the brother and the king were?

So he kills the guy who was his master in his previous life and whom he wanted to have join him to save the world. That seems bad, problematic

He saved the princess in order to gain favor and grow his name as a hero. Except not many people are actually talking about him, and now it seems like the princess isn't exactly someone to be trusted, either. But that doesn't prevent him from killing the king, since it was the king's plan to kill the princess/his daughter. And I guess mc has already"made his [hero] bed" with the princess...

It was a bit weird when he decided to NOT tell his friends the truth in episode 1. It's super weird that he knows the elf's name and her birthmark but everybody just accepts it and the answer "I'll explain later". Everything's just a bit meh

Both Kyle and Zentos Ordi definitely have that Brothers in Arms camaraderie in their past life, and the new timeline is nothing different from that, except that he has to kill him in order for a much-needed sacrifice. And with Milena making it back to Zirgus, she's finally safe back home with Kyle and the party's reassurance to her father, the King Remonas, no less. At least for the most part, the royal family infighting is settled somehow, and Kyle and his party are crowned heroes for their aid.

However, Kyle certainly had deeper afflictions for the king, who'd led his brother in arms to his fated death, and certainly he'd made Milena's succession quicker that way (and so the news is said to be something else). Even with Milena, her arranged marriage with Prince Maiser of the Gargan Empire in Karan, and Sildonia's suspicions of the princess testing him on her behalf, even teasing him on the side.

With the relations of Zirgus out of the way, Kyle and his party can move on to Karan, and with the information they have for the city-state, it's another adventure waiting to happen in the mining city.

So far, it feels like this covers just about Volume 1 of the completed LN, but production values just continue to be so-so.

I don't know if I like how he just slain his master. He was without weapon, MC would win easily from that moment, logically you would only wound him, try to learn what happened. If there wasn't other option, then you can kill him.

For someone MC wanted to save, he was quick to just kill him.

Not even speaking about the production and animation of the anime, it's really poor, but 6 episodes in, I should finish it.

They're loaded with gold but couldn't buy a horse and carriage to get to the next town? I'm just realizing now how radically different the manga character designs are different from the anime although it does look rather "dated" so maybe that's why the changed it.
