I haven’t watched a single episode and I don’t want to start a new anime unless I know it’s as good as people are rating it.

People are being dumb by comparing to all anime overall and saying it is overrated because it is not as good as for example Frieren or FMAB, which is apples to oranges comparison.
Is it good compared to other critically acclaimed romances like BokuYaba or Toradora? Yes, it is. One may argue it is better, even.
So it's not overrated.

What nobody is talking about is how the Netflix jail skews the ratings more towards mostly pirates who are mostly manga readers.

The most logical approach is to be patient wait for the series is done airing in Japan or starts airing globally in September because it would be more indicative or where people truly rate it.

it's worth the hype. if you like a Greenblatt romance, good animation and sound and a.really cute FL and a n understanding and PROTECTIVE ML then watch it.
I hadn't read the manga so had no clue but man, I wish all the episode were out already.

well, the source itself, the manga, has a high rated too. with 158 chapters and still run, it ranked 3rd in romance and 31th overall. as long as the anime does not mess it up, the idea of overrated might be gone someday.

as of right now, overrated. as a manga reader these first couple episodes cover the weaker part of the story but they are done really well. it gets better as more episodes come out

yes, it's so damn cliche and cringed, I'm gonna die on this hill. I caught up to the manga and so far only the side couple worth following. The main couple is so boring, the premise is full of boring tropes like romeo and Juliet setting, protect heroine from bullies, besties gatekeeping heroine romance and in the latest chapter even a fking teacher gatekeep them wtf. Tbh even horimiya is way better than this, let alone bokubaya. I can't believe people compare kaguya or bokubaya with this, what a joke.

Of course it's overrated... it has a 8.7 score and it's been only 2-3 episodes. Is it worth it? Don't know, too soo to say... Is it worth trying? Until today yes it is.

All I will say is that the writing/dialogue is kind of poor in this show. if you are coming with high expectations because u saw the score, then drop those high expectations, nothing has happened yet that will make you think that the show is amazing.

It's overrated but it kinda deserves it tbh, it's a great anime for new watchers, bet even kids would love this because it's not a sexy type romance anime, it's literally just like the drama shows you can see on tv stations.

Still better than anything else this season in the genre. Bunny Girl Senpai hardly has any romance for a romance, Dress Up Darling is so inauthentic with its typical thirsty-otaku-slob-except-is-dream-girl waifu bait, Rent A Girlfriend is just eternal cock block blueballing, Summer Pockets is throwback Key with a revolving door of girls who disappear after their 4 episode arcs are done.

Overrated so much. I mean it's still good but not something special and super original. It's just so common and familiar to some other romance anime so far. Characters' creation is a copied scheme imo (it's not a bad thing yet you may feel like you already watched sth really familiar, especially when female mc is designed to be a perfect girl with no flaws). Currently, it's 7/10 for me. Horimiya and The Dangers in my Heart were kinda better.
