Saved by a God? That was a close call for Kai. Tbh, Kai has been through a lot of shit and seeing him get out of this mess isn't much surprising at this point. He had to fight for survival since day one.

This season finale just kinda ties everything together for him as he continues to do what he does. Episode had mystical vibes to it though.

The diabo is a real heap of trouble, having ingested Kai and leaving the others all overwhelmed at his plan to do anything at this stage. Instead, the Valley God encouraging him to overcome death and kill the diabo with a turtle's shell embellished on his body, plus his role as the Great God Kanae. However, the diabo is not fully quelled, and more work is needed if Kai is to look to dislodge the godstone altogether.

At this point, everyone is working together to disarm the diabo, and it was a hard-fought effort to even dispel its godstone and reveal Shendor, the one who started the chaos. Nevertheless, the macaque land of Heju is now pure, and Kai can finally make the journey back to Lag Village, as much as Deuswuf is returned back to its land from his request to Zayena, who has got quite the work to convince Abridor and the rest of the macaques to accept her being queen. Even back in the village, the disappearance of the scum of Inspector Gandal may be a future problem, but at least for the moment, the Molochs' land and children are safe.

Quite the interesting series that mixes in Isekai elements in a traditional fantasy.

Well, scratch one giant salamander. It didn't go down easy. I figured he'd cut his way out & he did. Nothing too surprising, yet this series has been a pretty decent watch overall, better than a lot of them. I must say it was one of the surprises of Spring for me.

Deer tribe leader "Nirun of the uzelles" show up at the end, Valley God wants Kai to gather more worshipper "Gather worshipper". Nirun has feeling for Kai "I will give you everything I have." Future season Kai married to Lady Jose? I never read the manga, I could be wrong?

It has somewhat interesting concept. I like how Kai just want to live a slow life but his God say: "nope, you receive my power so you must do God's duty in my stead". God could have choose a more ambitious person, but God knows that modern problems require modern solutions. Kai, with his knowledge from previous world, is the only right man for this job.

With that said, I'll probably watch season 2 if it has one, but it's also ok if it only has one season.

That salamander put up one hell of a fight. Still, nothing Kanae Rider couldn’t handle, haha. Things might have calmed down with the monkeys for now, but the village clearly isn’t out of the woods yet.

Overall, I had a good time with this one. The guardian and god stone storyline was pretty engaging, and the action scenes delivered.

One of the harem wives was shown at the end, but overall it's more a shadow of the original in some places, although it was quite average in some places, the last episodes were better than the middle.

i enjoyed this one, even with the bumpy and peculiar spots due to Kai not knowing diddlysquat about anything. maybe the anime staff's poor writing is to blame, or it was the source author not explaining things clearly or earlier? the worldbuilding has been interesting and original... unless you played 'The Dark Sun' expansion pack for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons back in 1991... or since then.

in 'DS' the normal D&D magic mechanics were entirely screwed around with till they were nigh on utterly unrecognizable. only two sources of 'magic' existed on the world of Athas. praying to the 'sun' let some people absorb 'magic' during the day and perform 'miracles'. the other source was carefully crafted pure obsidian spheres that could absorb life energy from plants, animals, and sentient beings. carrying these spheres was forbidden by the orders of 'The God Kings' who used them to drain the life nearly out of the whole planet during their power-struggles and turned it into pretty much all desert. by eating enough obsidian spheres each of the God Kings extended their lives to near immortality and were able to 'transfer' some of their magic to their worshippers who were fanatically loyal and also carried spheres of their own attuned to their Kings. to reach the pinnacle of Godhood each God King wished to 'Become a Dragon' and devour the life forces of their enemies and grow and grow and consume more and more obsidian spheres to metamorphosize into dragons.

the individual gods here in Tegonia mirror the city-states of Athas in 'The Dark Sun'. each god having a need to eat other gods' followers to make themselves, their own champions, the lands themselves, and followers stronger. a physical object holding this life inside the person, be it an obsidian sphere or a special organ. general ignorance about magic and how the world works in both story settings. the different races competing and going to war and not cooperating in alliances is similar.

if Teogonia S2 happens, i'll be watching it to see what happens next. :D
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

Teogonia was okay, but I think it was let down somewhat by the writing. I think the story was getting pulled in multiple directions and none of the plot points got enough of the attention they deserved. I think it could have benefitted from a good editor to make a more solid story. As for the anime itself I think it was let down by the animation and the dull palette though overall it was solid enough. But it both points had improved it could have been a solid seven out of ten instead of almost being there.
To put it another way if this had been a Summer animation I would have dropped it for lack of time and interest to watch it.
7/10 for the potential it wasted.

My sentiment exactly. I know many anime like this are here to promote the LN or manga but I in the end it the clunky plot just leaves me uninterested in following it up.

Wow I'm really surprised by this anime, it's better than I expected. It keeps getting me more interested in every episode.

I'm wondering why he still used the mask after the battle, is it for hiding his face?

I hope they make another season.

I feel like this show was the definition of average. I didn't hate it but didn't like it either. 5/10 for me. I think it had too much going on and it led to no real development.

I’ve been watching weekly for the most part, I saved the final 3 to binge. I was going to give it a solid 7 but the final episodes, especially the last made me change my mind- now it’s an 8. I’m not sure how popular the manga was in Japan, so only time will tell with a second season, but I’m hopeful; especially with the way it ended! The mysterious Isekai aspect also hasn’t been answered, which I liked. It makes sense that your memories would be touch and go after being born into a new reincarnation. Most other Isekais are in your face about it (which can be good too) sure it would be nice to retain all of your memories from previous lives, but that may interfere with your new life (thinking about it realistically). He must have been good in school because he sure had a lot of scientific knowledge lol. I’m ready for more- good show πŸ‘ more Wifus isn’t a bad thing either 😚

Though the last ep was not bad, I was disappointed we didn't see any of Kai's pre-isekaie'd life in the entire cour (/show?), despite the OP and ED sequence suggesting we would. Will this get a second cour?

Bros just wanted peace and their lives back. Got it, made deal with the man who saved them.
Ungrateful woman wants power, and already said she'd go to war against the men who saved her.
This anime got feminism right 🀣

Had to wait for Ep12 to come before watching Ep11, and it was a good choice! This series has been adapted solidly. Nice characters with each of their own character developments, and not a flimsy development. 8/10β˜…
Definitely looking forward to Jose's love to fruition.

I definitely want Jose more than Lise.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I liked this anime. It was definitely a slow burn but I enjoyed it. It really reminded me of that random slow burn anime that would air on Toonami from time to time. I’m surprised we didn’t get any isekai stuff this season. I also wonder how long he’s going to keep his secret from his clan.

That being said I’m worried this won’t get a season 2. No one is really talking about the anime besides here. Maybe it’s doing better in Japan?

wow i didnt realize that was the season finale? that changes everything... what a horrible season finale, even if it was just a regular episode it was totally underwhelming imo. Clearly the studio that did this anime didn't care at all, otherwise they would've put a lot more effort into the season finale to at least give it a chance of getting renewed for a 2nd season. Good anime ruined by lazy studio thats more interested in short term gains instead of long term ones.

I think this is a very middling adaptation of potentially much better and more interesting source material.

I saw a few minutes went animation isn't good but premise is interesting let me read some of the manga and so I read the 9 chapters that were fan translated several years ago now before the scanlators abandoned the project. You appear to be able to get more on bookwalker but I'm not paying $120 to get digital copies of the manga. Physical I might have taken a punt on a few volumes but not digital.

However he quality of that manga is head and shoulders above that of the anime. To the point it's bizarre that the anime didn't just copy the far superior manga in most of it. There's stuff like establishing shots of the village and the like where there's no cost implication to copying the manga, they are going to draw a background for the village. So why not use the existing one in the manga that is way better and more interesting that what is in the manga?

To the point I made a thread asking if anyone was familiar with all three because I wondered if there was some complex rights thing and the anime had to formally adapt the light novel and it's illustrations and they weren't allowed to adapt the manga and any potential changes it made or it's (fantastic) art. If that's not the case then the writers at this studio are laughably bad (they are clearly not great as is).

For example in the manga Kai is hit in the head and awakens his vague real world memories during the first battle and that's the opening scene essentially. In the anime he does it during training and they then go and battle the orcs. Why? One is a more dynamic efficient storytelling device and the other just isn't. And there's loads of bits like that. Like the way the first few episodes vs manga chapters are structured is just loads better.

It was enjoyable. I don't know if it's the author's choice or if it's later fleshed out, but the series' premise started with Kai being implied to be from another world, explaining his "random" memories.
Then, the series just focused on the in-world plot which is fine, regardless.

This macaque saga was interesting, it introduced some interesting characters and I immediately took a liking to the wolf. Hope we see him again. That is if we get another season which doesn't seem unlikely with that after-credits ending.

Oh, and the harem is getting crowded now. Jose, Elsa, the koror girl and now the uzelle. What will you choose, o' great Kanae god?

Yeah initially this was looking like a 5/10 anime, but ended up a 7/10 for me as it progressed.

Maybe cause I've seen too much trash anime recently, but at-least this didn't annoy or bore me to death. Definitely a slow burn anime.
