XD No, Jinshi is a forceful creep and keeps on inappropriately touching and holding a usually uncomfortable Maomao. Not everyone was a predator back then, but the author obviously didn't get the memo and had to include pathetic shoujo pandering rapey scenes. It's no better than something like A Sign of Affection lol Everyone defending this is pathetic, amd to think even worse shit supposedly happens later on, according to a couple posts in this thread. Probably another scene of assault no doubt, that's how shoujo style (I dont care if its technically seinen or whatever) do their romance lol |

A lot of whataboutism and deflection from these hypocrites.
1. My profile and hentai tastes have nothing to with the issue at hand, irrelevant.
2. I can separate my tastes from hentai to normal TV anime, unlike seemingly most of you.
3. Maomao's personality is jaded and she lacks proper emotion and understanding which was even explained in this episode. The ball grabbing scene, while pathetically out of place and used as comedic relief can be reasoned away properly. She was surprised, disillusioned at first and wanted to confirm. The author just dragged it out.
4. Jinshi has shown rapey/forceful vibes in past episodes and gets a free pass because of his looks. Holding her down and lifting her leg like that was the final straw for me. Jinshi actually knows and understands what he's doing, he just uses his position to take advantage. Why are we romanticizing this exactly? Again, it's pathetic.

@antonn just decided to spoil myself and look it up. I was talking about Sylvester, from the perspective of only watching the anime. It seemed like he was manipulating her to groom her for himself. I guess not, after looking it up. Sylvester definitely has some similarities to Jinshi in a lot of ways, but either I was completely off the mark or Ascendence's author changed the direction it looked like the story was heading with Sylvester. The trope I was referring to was of a nobleman(or prince of some sort) sweeping a young girl off her feet(who had up to that point been cold-ish and level headed) and turns her into a standard girl character who is overly dependent on her significant other.
| @Animorphimagi Well in terms of Bookworm you were completely off the mark. Sylvester was never intended for that role. He already has a wife and 3 kids by the time he meets Myne, 2 of which are about the same age as her. Pretty much the only similarity he shares with Jinshi is that they're both complete man-children personality wise. |
