@phantomfandom I believe slowing the velocity of the bullet was to allow it to pass thru while doing less damage internally on its way
| @drew_yashisan Or Senku hoped the flour mix would absorb the remaining energy of the bullet, stopping it completely. Of course realistically it would be utterly impossible for any bullet (even a .50 BMG caliber) to get shot from ~3 km, then penetrate the thick hull of the ship like it was butter, and then the bullet fragments still retain enough energy to pass through the flour/water bag and Senku's body. Bullets lose lots of energy -and thus speed- due to air friction. The .50 cal Browning, assuming that's what Xeno reproduced, has a max range of 5+ km but an effective range of 2 km tops. At 3 km away even a .50 cal bullet would barely pierce a boat's wooden hull, since 80 - 90% of its energy would be spent. Furthermore, when you shoot from such distances the bullets take 5 to 8 seconds to reach their target; you effectively shoot into the future, betting that your mark will not move. They are unlikely to move if they are not aware they're targeted by a sniper and do not hear the shot. Both of which did not apply for Senku; Stanley lost the element of surprise, Senku heard the shot (much earlier than he should, since the writers did not account for the speed of sound delay; in reality the bullet would have hit a couple of seconds after Senku heard it, not after 4 - 5 seconds), and yet he was still implausibly shot. Simply moving a few meters left or right after hearing the shot he could have avoided it. He could not tell for certain how far away the sniper was, but he could estimate from the shot's sound and pitch. Stanley shot from a ridiculous distance, which is not unheard of for top pro snipers. But such a distance only makes sense for silent kills of stationary targets. |

Are we gonna find out that Stanley was secretly told not to actually kill the enemy leader (whoever that would turn out to be)?
Think about it. Xeno's entire shtick of science being elegant. Stanley's very much scientific sniper skills.
If a sniper wants to kill someone, they do indeed go for the head - I know I always do whenever I play any such game. It's the safest bet, there's no rhyme or reason to doing otherwise. Sure, Senkuu got behind cover, but... so what? Anyone behind cover will eventually either peek out, or have to move somewhere else, inevitably revealing themselves. Stanley's perched way the fudge up there, completely hidden, and with his bragging about how long he can stay still, and even having had all the water hauled there just for that exact purpose... there was no point in him taking such a dirty shot. Sure, arrogance is very much part of his personality, but is it big enough to overwrite his primary, most rational sense about his very profession? In addition, the way he takes the shot and immediately jumps down, that's it, job's done, not even waiting or checking anything... could be his arrogance too, ofc, but is it really? If I have an objective in a game to kill someone, I gotta make damn sure they are dead before I can advance - indeed, a few games actually have a separate "confirm kill" objective too before the mission can move on or be completed. This alone is sus.
On top of it all, to loop back to Xeno's motto: taking out the enemy, with minimal damage - not destroying the equipment, and ultimately not even killing a single person? If that isn't elegant, I can't imagine what would be. The whole thing is very sus, it's almost theatre.

| @yellowheartren in the real world snipers aim for the body it a bigger target with many easy to hit important organs. Only in games and movies do snipers aim for the head. Body shots in most cases will end in a kill. |

| Of course Stanley (of all people) didn't confirm his kill -.- And of course no one had anything to say to Luna, who was practically the catalyst for this incident. Still a solid episode tho. Aside from all the annoying yelling, the scenes with wounded Senkuu being treated felt serious enough and the passing-the-torch moment between him and Chrome was simply fantastic. Dr. Chrome 🚬 Fernandexs said: I'm just curious how they're going to end it all in 3 episodes, as they said it would be the final season and there's still a lot to be explained. "Final season" but divided into 3 single-cour seasons. So apparently there are still like 25+ episodes to go. |
| I'm actually happy they're taking this opportunity to give Chrome more spotlight. I still remember how sidelined he was in the 1st season... Chrome coming up with the idea of a drill just shows that if he had the basis that Senku and Xeno had, he might have had more knowledge than both of them. Anyways, Senku didn't die, what a surprise. Luna being a med student made 0 difference I think, because they didn't do anything to Senku that they wouldn't do otherwise (like cleaning the wounds). And her dropping out of med school just adds to that, because if she dropped out in the 1st year, she certainly won't know much (well, I guess she knows more than most of them). But I always wondered why we didn't have a Doctor on board, and we're on season 4 already. But as I said, I doubt Luna will be of great help in that regard, unless she became a genius and with only 1 year in med school she was able to know everything. Anyways, really curious to see how they will build that drill, because it just seems undoable, especially in 2 weeks. And I wonder what is Dr. Xeno building, a rocket? |

| Senku may have taken a beating from the shrapnel, that's almost to the point of death. But that's also the chance to regain back lost opportunity in spite of the same fact, and it's clear that they need a doctor to tend to him badly, which Luna offers her help, and Taiju needing the assistance. Meanwhile, Tsukasa and the others reaching towards Xeno's headquarters to assess how they can counteract, the bad news reaches to them as soon, and Chrome taking over from Senku, it's the only choice now. With Senku out of commission, Chrome has to take his chances, but while giving the empty Medusa to Xeno as a gift as an intimidation, Gen can only do so much as to do his convincing (which is clearly failing) as Xeno hurries the takeover, and Chrome and the gang playing catchup within the time they have before all is lost. Chrome's science better work, or the Kingdom of Science will be wiped out. |

| Stanley’s insane gun skills nearly sent Senkuu to his grave, but thanks to his quick thinking, he somehow survived. Didn’t expect Luna to be a med student, but yeah, not everyone in medical school becomes a doctor—it takes a certain level of intelligence. Now I’m curious about the weapon they’re developing. Whatever it is, it’s definitely bad news. |

| This season has just felt a little off for me but the road map really sucked me in. I'm not a huge fan of the action, much rather see the inventions and the work up to them. |

| A lot of talk about waht Senku did to stop the bullet, but that all misses the point. There was no need to do that at all. In fact, as we can see, it made matters worse (though maybe not as bad as getting hit without it). There is no way Stanley knows where Senku is exactly. Senku dived onto the floor and robbed along. There was like a 10 meter area where the hull planks are raised a bit higher, high enough for him to still not be visisible when moving away from them towards the middle by several meters. The only reason he was hit was because he positioned himself directly in the line of fire, for whatever reason. He also was right besides that cabinet. THAT would have been the perfect shield. Several planks of wood a couple of cm thick each time, with plenty of space for the splinters of the bullet to move away in between. Or he could simply have moved back down again. Being able to perfectly position himself in the line of fire, he would have been able to move directly away from it as well. Also, the bullet had already splintered after passing through the hull there. Then he stopped most pieces with the floor/water mix - but one piece (called "the bullet" for whatever reason, that's simply wrong) passed straigh through him, and at the same time nearly killed him? There is no mention of it having hit any organs, and if, he would certainly NOT survive, so a small fragment of the bullet passing cleanly through should not do so much damage. They are so focused on showing of "science" that they throw basic logic out of the window to be able to get there. |
