Bleach fans have been eating well lately. My My, these past 3-4 episodes have made me anxious for more and I'm a manga reader, I already know what happens.

But the anime is improving in every aspect of the manga, the soundtracks are top notch, and I'm actually feeling something about what's happening.

I feel like the pace is a bit fast sometimes, but overall it is a great adaptation.

THIS IS GREAT.

BLEACH IS GREAT AGAIN.

@Ecchi_Zone What's wrong with Gerard's fight? And why is the arrow an asspull when it has major foreshadowing and thematic resonance already?

OH MY GOD SLAYING SWORD, The "OH MY RUBBER NEN" moment of Bleach is finally here.

To be honest, the episode is an absolutely phenomenal adaptation of the manga. Amazing visuals (the Trompete scene is almost as majestic as Ywhach ascension in the first episode, pure CINEMA), great soundtrack, insane VA's performances, gives us more backstory on Shunsui, Nanao finally gets her moment to shine...the only problem is that the sword itself feels like an asspull that was made for the sake of this fight. If you can ignore that detail and see it like "a sword that deflects conceptual attacks" (similar to Ukitake's sword), then there is pretty much not any problems with the episode and this part of the manga as a whole.

IMO this is another 10/10 source material adapted episode. If you're anime only or you have troubles eating this (very obvious) asspull, then I can see not enjoying this as much as the first half of this fight or Baby Hold you Hand 2 and that opinion is perfectly valid by all accounts, but it personally doesn't detract from my enjoyment of this episode.

Can't wait for FRI END and "My Last Words" (confirmed last episode of the cour by the usual leakers)
@GoldenSaltPillar So it's been confirmed next week will drop the last two episodes?

@WatchSymphogear I hope they leave it for Cour 4 so that we can get

It's better if they end this Cour with FRIEND and My Last Words or

@IHateMidPiece According to leaks this season has 14 episodes and there will be a double episode on December 28th. This is because Episode 1 of Cour 3 was supposed to be the end of Cour 2, but they had production issues (which is why 9 minutes of the first episode is recap)

Disney+ France also refers to the last episode of Bleach on the 28th as "Final Episodes" instead of "Last episode", so it's probably a double episode, similar to how it was in previous cours.

Prediction is FRIEND will be extended to 2 episodes and My Last Words is the Cour finale, but we wont know for sure until next week.

I didn't think they'd hit us with this type of emotion after last week
But damn, that hurt. It was great.

Lille Barro was a total idiot though. "This sword can reflect the power of a god, So I'm gonna hit it with my strongest attack" It's like Aizen all over again.

Despite the fact I knew what was coming (because of the manga) this episode still left me feeling a bunch of mixed feelings. I think the majority of Bleach fandom could agree upon the fact (if they weren't ShunUki shippers) that if you had to pick one couple that wasn't yet married and would make the most sense being as a couple or becoming one it would be Kyoraku Shunsui and Ise Nanao (unless you would ship either one with someone else already). But then it seems Kubo decided 'you know what? This sure ship probably most people can agree upon shall be sunk so badly, it won't ever recover, unless you're into uncle x niece'. This episode all but destroyed that ship (and before that the manga), unless someone wants to write AU where they aren't related or...yeah. I don't know what to write. As I stated, this episode left lots of mixed feelings to me, so I suppose the "conflict" is fitting for this cour!

It still confuses me how Katen (Ohana) gave "birth" to Kyokotsu (Okyo), as in the manga translation it was stated that Koykotsu split from Katen which at least in my books makes sense. I hope the anime translation was just wonky at that part, but if it wasn't...which one it was and how? Like...just, how? I understand it was because Ise's family heirloom had to be hidden, but even then...it feels like a bit over the top.

Man. So many conflicting feelings and confusing ones.

If one thing was clear to me it was Lille Barron's upgraded god's messenger look was ugly. His form didn't instill fear in me, but just...'you're ugly'. The fact he grew a long dragon-like neck just to have an odd chicken/owl head was weird. Not writing about how he complained his eyes got dry and it made me think of this one animal that uses its tongue to make its eyeballs wet... also, Lille's yapping about 'sinful this' and 'sinful that' got super annoying after a while. The fact he looked like a children's giraffe-dragon-owl-thingy didn't give me any heavenly vibe or sort of. Then again, maybe Kubo wanted to make a bit different angel? Because it was obvious Lille's Quincy: Vollständig's second form Jilliel was inspired by those Western-looking angels that look very...creepy. But at least the animators made his glowing gold which was pretty!

If I'm looking at parts that weren't so confusing or conflicting (personally to me) it was the fact Nanao was so badass. I'm so happy she got her moment to shine! However, it was a bit odd she didn't know how to use katana because I assume at the Academy she got at least a basic crash course on how to use one, but let's assume because it was so long ago, she had simply forgotten. Even so, it felt somewhat realistic when she had her inner dialogue about the heaviness of her katana, how it felt to use it, and generally how terrifying it was. It clearly showed Nanao wasn't used to being a front-fighter. Despite this, she performed well and I'm glad she managed to slay Lille with the help of Shunsui.

The ending card poem and speech revealed in the next episode will be about Bazz-B and Jugram. I wonder if there will be 13 episodes which would mean they could potentially bundle 12 and 13 together. If yes, then it would make sense we get to dwell a bit deeper into those two friends' friendship. But we'll see!

Kyouraku and Nanao 's backstory is really interesting. It was one of my favorites! There were clues back then that their past was hiding something. Their Zanpakutos stories are tied in a special way. I am looking forward to the next episode!

I was waiting how they would deliver with owl Lille and to be honest I think the anime did a fantastic job conveying how alien yet holy he feels in this form. My favorite part of the episode for sure.

As convenient as the Ise sword is, to be honest it never bothered me much. At the end it was just a way to showcase the bond of Nanao and Kyoraku, so in that regard it fulfilled it's job successfully.

Also the episode looked beautiful. The art of these late episodes is being quite good.

The cinematography was amazing. The color and animation were fine and detailed. I had a feeling that Shusui and Nao were close, but that they were family was something else. Came as a shock. A great eps. with Ise-clan's special zanpaktou. Only two episodes remain of this cour. I can't wait to see how it ends.

One of the worst fights of the arc due to the contrived asspull of Nanao suddenly being such an important character despite nothing in previous arcs foreshadowing it. While I tolerated this in the manga because at the time everyone knew that Kubo was having health problems, he and the studio could've fixed this mess of a fight in the anime by adding more foreshadowing or at least extending the fight to make it more exciting, but no. It ended just as anticlimactically as in the manga, and the animation while not bad, wasn't spectacular either.

That was a beautiful backstory of Kyouraku and Nanao, with nice emotional impact. Animation and sound was also superb. Lille's true Vollstandig was both holy and alien. I think my only gripe for this episode was they didn't fixed the asspull that was called the Ise ancestral Zanpakuto, even though I believe they have the freedom to do so in this anime adaptation. Just like what the others have mentioned, they could have foreshadowed it, or extend the fight by maybe introducing more abilities to Shinken Hakkyoken like, for example; drastically reducing Lille's regeneration, instead of only just the reflecting ability and be done with it.

So next episode will be Friend (Bazz-B and Haschwalth backstory), and not the "KFC" and a certain "dead man" confrontation.

I think that in anime this fight looks much better than in the manga. In the manga it was not really impressive and the looks were not very convincing. But in anime it's perfect. Also the fight was great. It's always a good thing when we can learn some backstories during a fight in Bleach (they are usually well written and give more depth to the characters).

So, Nanao's uncle is... so, they're blood related. What a background story.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

So yeah, Shinken Hakkyōken is quite controversial in the Bleach community for being a deus ex machina specifically made to counter Lille. I was hoping the anime would give it some foreshadowing (e.g. showing the Soul King wielding it), but we unfortunately didn't see any hints.

Regardless, the flashbacks between Shunsui and Nanao were incredibly adapted. Their backstory is emotional and makes me feel bad for Shunsui especially, having lost so many people close to him.

Kubo goes hard on the body horror this arc and Lille's true Vollstandig is essentially cosmic horror. Lille is now unrecognisable in his second transformation and becomes incomprehensibly esoetric just like Biblically accurate Angels. I believe it's inspired by the four Beasts that guard God in the Book of Revelations (appearing as a lion, an ox, an eagle, and a man), whom are described as having "eyes about and behind them". Both Vollstandigs are different representations of angels. He is also made out of pure light now. One of my favorite designs in the series, and one of the best portrayals of angels in fiction. This is also perhaps the most visusally beautiful episode so far. TYBW has the best art direction and aesthetics in TV anime.

And Lille's fate along with the rest of the Schutzstaffel were foreshadowed in Cour 2 by Senjumaru's fate-weaving Bankai.
@HealthAndWealth Lille's final form is definitely my second favorite Schutzstaffel transformation. I love how it emulates a Biblical angel, yet comes across as menacing, yet really cool. Although, Askin's Vollständig will forever be my favorite

The previous two episodes were actually enjoyable for the first time in this season. Tossing the main characters to the side and letting captains fight drastically improved the show, so this piece of shit of an episode was even harder to watch, than it would be after the usual crap coming from Ywah. People claiming every episode is "peak" or "true cinema" or other brainless regurgitated twitch/tiktok nonsense probably think Harry Potter is the best book ever written too.

Okay I'll admit, the anime did more justice to the Black Sniper -> God Chicken transmog. Even with all the badassery, it's still quite a puzzling switch that makes no real thematic sense. Maybe if one liberally interprets the craziness of actual Biblical angelic messengers, but even then, the Quincy gave up an OP power that could end every shinigami he came across for a divine energy-charged power that could easily be deflected by Shrine Maiden zanpakutou. Dude gave up a win condition to amass an OP god-power that had a fatal flaw. Pretty awful trade-off in the grand scheme of things. Not sure what the metaphorical importance of that trade-off is.
