Why would they even care about that coconut? It's not like he has any right to cut their hair. And it's not like he has the laws on his side either, he even took Akane hostage. Well, I'm not sure that there are any laws in their world tough. If that was the case tough, why didn't they just kill the guy when they had the chance?
This episode was just stupid.

Ranma's voice actor at this point is kinda awful. He sounds dorkier.

I almost kind of felt bad for the principle... then again I have a shaved head so I'd be fine with the new rule :)

The new opening wasn't bad, I enjoyed it more than the opening for season 3. The ending was interesting to watch but the song was pretty lame. Probably the worst one so far.

All in all another enjoyable episode 4/5

I enjoyed this episode, thought it was pretty funny. It had a surreal quality.

I like the 'stop motion' OP animation also.

This was news to me too, and I didn’t like the change. In case anyone didn’t know, Sarah Strange did Ranma’s boy-type voice up til this episode, then it changes to Richard Cox.

I’m getting used to the new voice, but I miss Sarah Strange’s one. She gave such an attitude to boy-type Ranma. It’s way more generic now.

Honestly, if my memories aren't deceiving i met the headmaster in the SNES Hard Battle videogame around late 2001 before watching this episode (probably from 2002 to 2004) so i had no idea he was such a basket case. Still, it's a great introduction and these are some very funny 20 minutes. I just adore the stupidity on his account when he announces a very special present for his students and that is... forcing them to cut their hair. (???) What the hell of a present is this? Students obviously are 100% right for being against this idiotic rule, but this is fuel for a hilarious episode. Also, in the italian dub his voice is perfect and mixed random english words are spoken by him here and there making him look and sound even more unique (and it works)

New OP. It's not bad I suppose. Ranma 1/2's OPs and EDs aren't really that good. I like OP 1, 2, and ED 1, 3 the most so far. The rest are pretty meh. Which is a shame cos every OP and ED of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku were bangers.

It's probably too early to say this but I think not every character of Ranma 1/2 is good. Many of them are just remixed characters from UY (Ryuunosuke>Ranma, Shinobu>Akane, Tatewaki>Shutaro, Ryoko>Kodachi, Ataru+Cherry>Happosai?, etc.). Some of these characters aren't as good as their UY bases or are just annoying. Maybe I'm biased cos I watched UY first and it was my gateway to the retro anime rabbit hole but I don't remember a single character from that show being annoying even though the show itself had its ups and downs. Even one-time characters that showed up for a single episode were still funny in that show.

Wtf was this episode? The headmaster character was just annoying. I hate when schools enforce meaningless rules like uniform hairstyles and I didn't need to see this shit in animated form. This felt like a very bad Urusei Yatsura episode and an even worse Ranma 1/2 episode. I'm sorry that I keep bringing up these older shows but I can't help it.

Some people seem to be confused about what time ranma is set it, this episode confirms that it's set in the late 80s/early 90s.

Very nice new OP, I love the use of paint and the song was very fun, I don’t know how I’d compare it to the previous OPs yet but I like it a lot, of course it has that recognizable part at the beginning and end that I can’t remember the name of that makes it cool as well. And I saw someone in this thread comparing the songs of this show to Urusei Yatsura, and UY certainly has banger after banger for its songs but I have loved Ranma’s songs as well, I guess it’s a matter of taste.

And speaking of taste, I absolutely knew most folks weren’t gonna be a fan of this episode, but personally I loved it, I thought the principal was hilarious with his mixing of English and Japanese and stupid laugh, not to mention his design that goes perfectly with his goofiness. And yeah, the plot of him forcing the students to cut their hair was stupid but it made for such a fun episode so I don’t mind it, really it felt like an Urusei Yatsura episode thanks to the randomness and chaos, that’s partly why I loved it. Also Ukyo being present in this episode is a plus, I’ll take all I can get of her lol. Hopefully this isn’t the last we see of the principal, he was great.

I am pretty confident that Ranma's new voice actor is the same as InuYasha. I don't know how to deal with it; part of me loves it as InuYasha >>>, but I was kinda used to his previous voice.

Also, Ranma is a kid; InuYasha is a man. The voice sounds a bit too mature for him.
