Have you ever liked a show for a different gender demographic because of the attractive characters of the opposite sex?
| Have you ever enjoyed a show for a different gender demographic because of the attractive (both literally and figuratively) cast of the opposite sex? And how do you personally feel about the fact that a show for your demographic can attract a lot of people of different demographics in the same way? This is not a thread about “gatekeeping my favorite show from tourists”, it’s just that recently I once again came across a discussion about the fact that all-female shoujo attracts a lot of guys, while all-male shonens usually have a lot of girl fans (giving birth to such phenomena as seinen mahou shoujo and all-male sport shoujo) and I got curious ask people about it directly. Up to quite funny situations when the creators try to limit the number of male fans at Sailor Moon anniversary events in order to preserve the “female atmosphere”. |

| Yes even though I am girl I really like action oriented like the City Hunter, Space Cobra, Lupin the Third, Speed Grapher, and Fist of the North Star. |
| Depends what you mean but in either case whether you mean I may watch a show in part because I like how a character looks or because while watching a show me liking a character how they look helps me like it but their characterization all over I find more important. I sometimes wind up liking the show because of same sex characters too but they usually don't draw me in to start. |

| Yes, i like sailor moon and saint seiya for that very reason. In fact i like most mahou shuojos because they're cut girly shows for girls. |

| If K-On! counts, then yes. It's been a decade so I can't really say for sure but, I doubt I watched that show for any plot or story since I don't remember it having much of it-- it was simply a CGDCT. So, I think it's safe to say that I watched it then partially because I was attracted to either Mio or Mugi (likely for Mio, tbh). Not to say it wasn't a fun show to watch, of course. I just don't think I would've been as attached to it as I did if I wasn't simping as well. xD Maybe '7th Time Loop' and 'Yamada Lv999' would be much better examples though since those are more female-targeted stories that I don't tend to be interested in, but I did watch those, initially, due to its respective female MCs catching my eye. |

| No. The only show I've completed that was directed towards a female audience was Vampire Knight. I can't say that I was attracted to Yuuki or any of the other female characters on that show. I've also seen some episodes of the old Fruits Basket anime when I was a kid. But I was only interested in the story for that series as well. Valkyrie Drive doesn't have a specified demographic on MAL for me to determine whether it's for men, women, or both. |
JoJo series (Jotaro, Bucciaratti), Legend of Galactic Heroes (Reinhard), and Overlord (Sebas) are the few examples of those attractive characters of shows for different gender demographics. Although attractive characters are just bonus, just one of the reasons why I like those anime :) |

| I watch a lot of shonen stuff and don't really think about the attractiveness of the characters that much at all, unless its like Jojo cuz the men in the later parts are pretty hot. |
