@ChaChaVan Except it's not???? Even the downgrade that episode 2 had is leagues ahead of that shit show Studio Deen pulled out last year.

Things are really spiraling out of control now. The bully and his victim both turning into snails, mating, and laying eggs together was particularly fucked up...

Thankfully the MC survived getting Uzumaki'd into a Medusa and her boyfriend saved her with a pixie cut.
@Vysarine YEah, I think the manga made it clearer, I'm not sure people would grasp that unless they've studied mollusks. Which I haven't. Heck, the snakes closer to the beginning could've been mating, though snakes fighting do look similar to that in some ways, supposedly

I can't stop laughing while watching this anime, bruh.
@ZaviieR It's also cheaper and easier to produce, though I have to wonder how fast they can make the episodes when we've gotten 2 seasons a year sometimes

They sold hard on the animation, really a shame. Considering it took 5 years to make 4, 22 minute episodes, I’m not sure what they jerked away all that time and money on. Wtf.

The spirals are corrupting the town even further, turning people into snails, and watching them mate was incredibly weird. I think Kirie should have taken Shuichi's advice and left town already - her hair almost killed her, she saw a classmate basically commit suicide, but she's still acting like nothing happened. I didn't quite understand the lighthouse part. Was its lightbulb made of melted flesh because of the light it gave off? And Kirie died? I think the only ones who didn't suffer as much were Kazunori and Yoriko, who, despite their twisted bodies, were able to stay together.

There was definitely a drop in quality this episode. While the story is still interesting, it didn't top the first episode in terms of creepiness and certain parts felt weird. I hope the next episode improves, especially considering the five years it took to produce this adaptation.

This towns future prospects ain't looking too good. Not with all the people transforming in horrific ways.

Again with this dude that only shows up on rainy days, and ofc, this time around he's got himself a Uzumaki on his back... because ofc he does. Though, he's probably the least of our concerns for now, seeing as the dude only comes on, again, rainy days lmao.

Our big concern right now though, HAS to be the fact that Kirie's hair is turning into Uzumaki's as well. Actually, scratch the whole idea of not having to be concerned about the dude that only shows up on rainy days, BECAUSE DUDE TURNED INTO A FUCKING SNAIL??? WHAT LMAOOO. And Kirie's hair ain't looking much better. It just keeps on getting worse with the days.

Out of anyone this episode who got it the worst though has to be the dude that only shows up on rainy days. His parents seeing him was just so sad to see. No rest either because dude who won't leave Kirie dies in the MOST STUPIDEST FUCKING WAY EVER, THINKING HE A HERO AND LETTING THE CAR JUST RUN HIS ASS OVER... LIKE LOOK AT THIS BRO

The insanity doesn't even end there, because Kirie and other girl get into a Uzumaki off? WHAT LMAO? She won, for better or for worse, because at least Kirie got rid of her Uzumaki hair thanks to Shuuichi, but other girl... just yikes. Then they try to initiate the escape plan, and in a way, I guess it worked? Man this show is just.. I don't even know.

And now instead of Uzumaki's appearing on people, now it's people running in Uzumaki's???? HUH???? Like what the HELL is going on anymore. Then we got the sensei turning into a snail as well...???? Something to do with the lighthouse apparently, hm actually scratch that, it HAS to be something with that lighthouse because that ain't no ordinary lighthouse. As if the stairs up being an Uzumaki itself wasn't bad enough, the lens is also an Uzumaki that is just a ticking time bomb thanks to the sun and all... AND EVERYONE'S DEAD..???? HUH????????

So many questions.. so many just piling on each other. I'm not sure what I'm even watching anymore. Episode looked pretty rough though, I know that much.

Wonder who that dude that came out the grave at the end could be though.
@IzanaSolos that dude at the end was the one who got in the car accident. The "Boo" at the end is there because he likes to jump scare ppl.

What happened?

Delays and so many years producing this and yet this episode felt like it was rushed through in a week. I thought the goal was to do the art justice. You can't do horror justice when it looks goofy as shit. Ruins the atmosphere. At least we got the snail mating scene, but it didn't feel as fucked up as it should have. Even the lighthouse (one of my favorite chapters in the manga) fell flat because I was so distracted by how goofy the show looked up to that point. The child getting cooked alive in the lighthouse should have been one of the most f'd up things shown so far and it was... Oh, okay he got swallowed by mist/smoke and died. Whatever.

As others have stated multiple times, this anime was so fucked up during production that the animation was thrown around to different studios for each episode. So basically each episode will look different from eachother 🤣

Episode 2 of Uzumaki is pure nightmare fuel. The animation perfectly captures Junji Ito’s unsettling art, with spirals creeping into every frame. The slow build of tension, disturbing visuals, and eerie sound design create an atmosphere that is deeply haunting. It’s a must-watch for horror fans, offering a unique blend of psychological and body horror.

Honestly this was a....questionable episode. The animation has dropped considerably. I would be fine with that if it was at least still good, but no its just horrendous to look at. For certain sections its nice, but for most of the episode its just been not good. Breezing through the story at a fast pace which I'm fine with, but I do hope that the animation does increase with the following two episodes.

Being an adult swim original is now officially a kiss of death much like a crunchyroll original.

Seriously, there’s literally no excuse for Uzumaki looking this awful. Pluto went through tons of executive meddling and production issues and even got cancelled at one point, and that still looked visually impressive in the end.

Honestly, besides some of the running animation, the animation didn't seem that bad for me, there was definitely a noticeable drop in quality though, but it was passable.

In terms of pacing, since I haven't read the manga, I couldn't really tell how bad the pacing was, definitely not good but a lot happened in this single episode, due to that the creepiness didn't really have the time to settle in. I mean, it was still unsettling, but not as much as it could have been.

It doesn't make sense though, I heard Uzumaki already had years of delays, but they still had to outsource episodes and we only have 4. I understand the situation with the anime industry, but I am genuinely curious how this happened with Uzumaki.

I might just read the manga after the show finishes.

Usually I'm the one that defends the importance of animation is overrated by this community, but when you have a horror media where what you see is crucial to what you feel, when you already have a beloved manga that is known for its great art, and specially when you had a previous episode that set the standard really high, there's no way you can't get disappointed.

I think the years of delay was probably them trying to fix this drop in quality (they might have moved from one studio/staff to another) but ultimately it wasn't possible no matter what. It also shows the animation industry isn't really sustainable by itself. I feel like studios like Mappa, Wit and some others are exceptions, and even them are struggling at some points. Animation standards are getting higher, animators are working like slaves, and with mangas with good stories are going extinct, anime medium is dying. So yeah, damn what a shame

Apparently episode one and two are from different studios. Checking the rating history of the different anime they have produced or animated, the score is low, so it is not surprising that they (Akatsuki studio) would give us such a garbage episode in animation.

@TheRealRouges the mosquitos chapter is really scary, but still there were other scary moments, the anime Ruined it. By comedy, the user is referring to the Horrible animation that fuked up the horror elements.

@TheRealRouges OOps, you're quite wrong there. You won't read Berserk if it was drawn by middle schooler, would you? Nobody would give a fuk about Attack on Titan if It had this level of Animation & cramming.
Animation is really important. It's the animation, through which you peek into the world the director imagined, similarly the art speaks more than dialogues.
The horror & beauty of Uzumaki is mostly Expressed with it's Art. The crappy adaption couldn't catch it. It's more like a joke now. A butchered adaptation is worse than something that was made crappy from the beginning.

@Anayan_Kashyap womp womp, I will still prefer this over your fav sword art online any day lol. AoT will still be one of the greatest anime, because of it's incredible plot. I will still enjoy and read berserk even if it had below average art because of it's themes and great story. Animation is the cherry on top of a cake, not the cake itself.

@Nik03178 trolling won't make this show any better, but might satisfy the delusional mind of urs. Aot would remain Trapped under a Rock, with no more than avg critic if it wouldn't be watchable which this kind of animation and shit pacing.
Animation/Art is required to attract the viewer, keep them engaged, make it more impactful. Nobody cares about how smart you are unless you know how to socialize.
You can Just Try reading Berserk with a middle schooler's drawing, the impact that the facial expressions put, will drop down to half.
I Bet in the world, you wouldn't read AOT if it was a Novel, written in words instead. I love reading novels, and also make paintings. But a potrait is closest to a person's imagination, it provides ease of thinking,.... than mere words, which can only describe and force upon the reader to create the whole world itself in his head.
I guess you could be the only one person who Enjoyed each ep of the Berserk 2016 anime.
Your opinion is legit, but you just Overdid it for the sake of troll.

The people don't know why the cremation smoke becomes spirally yet, but burying the dead will not end well. The guy's Jack-in-a-box as a spring, probably foreshadows the fate of his corpse.

Only comes to school when it rains, physically and mentally slow, enters classroom all slimy, yeah. Should've seen it it coming.

In some deranged karma, the guy that bullied him and the teacher who destroyed the snail eggs also became snail people.

Those teens who were in a Romeo-Juliet situation had the right idea (whis is what Kirie should've done; leave ASAP). She feels some empathy when the guy who became a snail has to live in a cage, hosing him with water. Being strangled by ones own hair, damn.

A the couple's families try pulling them apart, they intertwined like the snakes, hard as a steel cable.

It's like the people who can't walk straight are walking up the lighthouse stairs without being there, round and round in circles is really up in a spiral flattened down.

@Nik03178 also i guess you've read Uzumaki. You should know different manga has different approach on how the author wants the reader to view his world. It's either through the author's eyes like FMA, OPM etc or use owe own imagination and compell us to think on the matter. Usually used in seinen mangas like Punpun, Monster etc.
The whole story of Uzumaki is expressed through it's art. There is negligible dialogues, used just for communication between characters. The dialogues doesn't compell the reader to implicate their thought upon it. It's rather peeking how the author wants. The dialogues doesn't emphasize the plot. In such a story, Animation/art plays quite a big role delivering the impactful situation. Moreover uzumaki is a linear and straightforward story. So it'll be bland without the artistic touch Ito gave to it.
Such exact scenario works in a Slice of Life anime.

So don't overreact, and waste ur time defending this dipshit adaptation.

It’s not a crappy adaptation, the first episode was perfect and the second one is decent enough. Next episode could end up being way better, since the studio schedule is all fucked up. If people can’t look over animations they just have negative fiction knowledge
