| Yes. I'm one of them. Many people like ecchi for different reasons. Like for example I'm a gay huge ecchi fan with a very strong libido. You wonder why a gay dude enjoy an Anime which clearly shows female characters showing their oppai and thighs but you forget most ecchi series also show male characters in similar positions especially female characters doing things to male characters and I love it since I'm very attracted to male characters besides most yaoi series are ecchi by default. In fact, ecchi despite being known as being popular for and by straight males, it has nothing to do with sexuality or the viewer being male like for example Redo of Healer was very popular among females. So yes, ecchi is the main and in most cases only reason I'm an ecchi fan. Ecchi is just playfully sexual actions. For me, to like an ecchi shows they must have: -acceptable male MC character design: this is the most basic aspect for me to enjoy an ecchi show. I'm not really picky in this aspect I can consider quite hot male ecchi MCs considered generic-looking like Sora no Otoshimono male MC, Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo male MC, KissXSiS male MC for example. Male MC I don't like their design are Asobi ni Iku yo! male MC, Ishuzoku Reviewers male MC for example, MT male MC (this is the only ecchi show I enjoy even if I don't like Rudeus design). -fanservice of male characters in ecchi shows which outside yaoi is different from the average ecchi show. Shingeki no Souma, KissXSis, Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo and Renai Flops are the most obvious ones. Like they show male characters naked with some even butt exposed or even with erections. Male straight ecchi fans cleary self-insert into such male characters, that's why they don't mind male nudity in ecchi shows, meanwhile as a gay ecchi fan, I'm very attracted to such male characters in ecchi shows. Some gays older than me didn't have much NSFW material of male characters online and besides yaoi they either watch ecchi shows which contain male characters put in NSFW situations by the female characters, heck they even watch straight hentai for the male MC only. Idk if they also self-insert into female characters from ecchi shows, at least for me I never did it since I'm a man myself. To be fair, it isn't weird being gay and being an ecchi fan (non-yaoi) since straight male watchers are only attracted to the female character, not to the male one which they self-insert. I only watch ecchi shows for male characters. Yes, we watch hentai too which applies the same logic I say with ecchi with the same results with the diffence they are shorter and we just want to watch the PLOT quickly and more explicit, you know what I'm saying lol. I felt ecchi shows are more complete since they are more obvious in incluiding sexual themes into an Anime with other genres being still there. All Anime has some sort sexual innuendo intentional or not with the next level being fanservice in non-ecchi shows (which fanservice is really ecchi itself but not enought to be tagged as an ecchi show), then ecchi and finally hentai (with a subclassification between the normal Ecchi and Hentai called Erotica which would be hardcore ecchi shows but they are not hentai). If it was for me, I'll put tag more Anime as ecchi, in general 70% of Anime is ecchi at very least, that's why some people complain about fanservice even if the ecchi is the most important thing in an Anime and it what makes it unique unlike other animation medium. I think the user IpreferEcchi explained better why ecchi has many fans since "Ecchi is integrating sexy things into everyday situations" besides I want to add its even longer than hentai shows which also has a slighty different objective in mind. In BL (I'm fundashi too), besides having ecchi elements, we have a similar classification with soft yaoi or shounen-ai (sometimes shounen-ai being being below soft) which they focus on romance over explicit sexual content, normal yaoi which contain both elements at the same level and hard yaoi which its more explicit sex and little to none romance (generally more taboo topics found here from your average hentai like rape, explicit incest, adultxunderage characters for example). All yaoi have either ecchi especially the normal and hard one and fanservice especially the soft and normal one. Yaoi Hentai is always in hard yaoi. Hard Yaoi tend to me more diverse than the normal and soft Yaoi since you can have male characters a bit more toned (not the point of being Bara) yet bishounen faces at the same time. I enjoy all types of Yaoi depending of my mood but since I have a strong libido I tend to enjoy more the most hardcore ones. Thanks for reading. |

| Most ecchi is just a genre of sex comedy. In fact the intent isnt actually simply to arouse the audience it is just using embarrassment as a gag. Other than that the plots dont require a lot of deep thought so it is just something someone would zone out to. |

Most people think you can't have porn with good plot, but that simply isn't true. Eroge allows story tellers to be able to tell deeply compelling stories, without shying away from sex, which is a deeply intrinsic part of human society. And sex can be a fascinating story element to explore, ether for the sex itself, of simply how it affects the characters/relationships in the story. I've always said for example, I think my dress up darling would be a far more interesting show if the two characters had actually gone all the way and had sex in the love hotel, rather than getting interrupted. Seeing how that spur of the moment sexual encounter would have changed their relationship dynamic, how they would each process and deal with it, would have added a wonderful new layer to the storytelling. These are the type of stories that you see in eroge, that very rarely get brought up in anime. Ecchi manga/Anime - I enjoy these again, for relationships and comedy. Ecchi anime is always going to have more developed stories then Hentai on average (there are always exceptions). There are very few "pure" ecchi out there. I can't think of a single one of the top of my head that doesn't have some other aspect too it then just "boobs" There is romance ecchi, comedy ecchi, battle ecchi etc. Which means there is story and reason behind when the ecchi happens. Which is what I enjoy. It's either going to make me laugh, or it's going to get my invested in the character relationships, and on some occasions even have genuinely interesting plots. Doujins/Hentai - More often than not, these are pure sex, with very little build up or story. (again, exceptions exist, I can think of a few that have actual good plot, despite being nonstop sex) I don't dislike them, and they are good for when I'm just in the mood for a quick release, but I never seek them out unless I am actively in that kind of mood, unlike Eroge/Ecchi, whcih I will watch/read even if I'm not in that kind of mood. |

Ecchi anime is always going to have more developed stories then Hentai on average (there are always exceptions). There are very few "pure" ecchi out there. I can't think of a single one of the top of my head that doesn't have some other aspect too it then just "boobs" There is romance ecchi, comedy ecchi, battle ecchi etc. Which means there is story and reason behind when the ecchi happens. Which is what I enjoy. It's either going to make me laugh, or it's going to get my invested in the character relationships, and on some occasions even have genuinely interesting plots. Doujins/Hentai - More often than not, these are pure sex, with very little build up or story. (again, exceptions exist, I can think of a few that have actual good plot, despite being nonstop sex) I don't dislike them, and they are good for when I'm just in the mood for a quick release, but I never seek them out unless I am actively in that kind of mood, unlike Eroge/Ecchi, whcih I will watch/read even if I'm not in that kind of mood. traed said: Most ecchi is just a genre of sex comedy. Male straight ecchi fans cleary self-insert into such male characters, that's why they don't mind male nudity in ecchi shows, meanwhile as a gay ecchi fan, I'm very attracted to such male characters in ecchi shows. Some gays older than me didn't have much NSFW material of male characters online and besides yaoi they either watch ecchi shows which contain male characters put in NSFW situations by the female characters, heck they even watch straight hentai for the male MC only. Idk if they also self-insert into female characters from ecchi shows, at least for me I never did it since I'm a man myself. To be fair, it isn't weird being gay and being an ecchi fan (non-yaoi) since straight male watchers are only attracted to the female character, not to the male one which they self-insert. I only watch ecchi shows for male characters. Temple was kind of like that too. The MC wound up naked a few times while the girls didnt so much. |
| In general, I don’t understand love exclusively for one genre, ignoring everything else. Of course, there is no arguing about taste, but I get simply tired of even watching shows in my favorite genres. |
