Pretty solid adaptation so far, cant wait for the most fc up arc next season.

I like this anime very much; it feels immersive to the story and world. This is a story about Rudeus's second life, not a fairy tale about a hero with a righteous persona and moral values. Of course there will be ups n downs in his life.

Also long hair adult eris, hope got another ova about her journey.

I see a lot of bots, a lot of emotional retards, and a lot of brainlet energy. I already knew broad basic media literacy was lacking after The Last Jedi, but dear Christ. Too many people who are fans of this show are making me wonder if the adaptation is a few dozen years too early to be properly appreciated. On the other hand, there are also a lot of good points and criticisms which while I disagree with them, do add to the discussion. I consider those people worth having a dialogue with, at the very least.

What does work for me is Rudeus acknowledging that he's been a child with an adult's body (and a child's again) for the longest time. He got so hung up on the things that hurt him in his past life that he developed narcissistic traits without realizing it. When reality came in and kicked him in the dick a dozen times, he still held fast, simply learning to be clever. It took a few traumas to establish for him the stakes and how he can't rely on eroge logic to get through things. This is real life. People die seemingly at random.

The thing is, I love a line from the previous episode that helps bring this forward:

"I would rather be trash than have anymore regrets."

Rudeus is learning to take his shots and accept the outcome. I think his timing with asking for Roxy to be his second wife could have been a ton better, but I understand why he wanted to get it out of the way ASAP. Norn also makes a ton of great points, so it's an almost impossible position to defend Rudy from. What helps is that he and Roxy are honest. She did take advantage of his fragile emotional state. Rudy did break his promise to Sylphie. Both are at fault. I would give Rudy a pass only in that unlike Paul, the circumstances were a lot more mentally taxing.

Also, long-haired Sylphie is dangerous. I look at Elinalise and I say "prime MILF energy." I look at long-haired Sylphie and say "Oh, holy Hitogami, me next."

What I disliked about the episode is how breakneck it was. I get the need to rush through to the finish line, but goddamn. You could have easily let the birth of Lucie be the season 3 opener. I also didn't like the second opening. It just felt way too melancholic for what the season was going for. I do admire that the production team seemed to put their hearts into this season, even if there were parts that didn't quite hold up to the first season.

I still consider this season a masterpiece. To quote the EFAP crew, "when the whole of something is bad, it's easier to pick apart the small stuff that isn't as significant; whereas, if something is good, even a masterpiece, it's a lot harder to look at it and say "this doesn't work" without asking the entire thing to be compromised." I'll toss in this aside:

If you want to criticize this show based on Rudeus's past behavior and then toss out crappy arguments like "oh, but he was middle-aged when he died," then you've already outed yourself as someone who has never done any kind of critical thinking in your life. It takes less than 5 minutes to put in "cycle of abuse" and "regressive behaviors in abuse victims" into google. It takes even less time to shut off the show and move on with your life. And it takes even less time to yeet your computer out the window and spare the world your stupidity.

Anyways, thanks for coming to my TEDtalk.
"Thorkell has no resistance to getting kicked in the f-in head. To be honest, neither do I." -Captain Mack

"You've faced many life-and-death situations. But that does not make you an adult. Finding more fallen-out hairs on your pillow, watching your favorite stuffed-bread disappear from the convenience store... the accumulation of those little despairs is what makes a person an adult."-Nanami Kento

"When a piece of media is bad, it's much easier to nitpick the less significant things because they're seen as a part of the problem. Alternatively, it becomes more difficult to nitpick something like a masterpiece because even the flaws are seen as contributing to the overall quality of the media." -Paraphrasing Mauler

You realize the value of someone, after you lose them!
This cour hit me really hard due to the similarities this season of me losing my parent.

I have seen many LN readers criticizing the adaptation, but Mushoku Tensei will always be the 10/10 anime for me.

And with that, season 2 is finally over.
It might be a year or a year and 1/2 until season 3. Oh well, I might have to start reading the Light Novels.

Another episode showing Sylphie being Best Girl of all time. Of course Sylphie knew it was going to happen. Norn went off on Rudy and I was rooting for her.

Rudy is finally a father. Lucy's birth was such a wholesome and touching moment. I also loved the final scene and his commitment to change. I hope from here his growth and character development is really highlighted in season 3.

Good season. Definitely not better than season 1 tho. Animation was solid, but if they take longer to make season 3 to ensure the quality is better, I will gladly wait for it.

Are there actually ppl who dislike Norn? I didn't read above msgs but I can already assume she is getting hated, despite being the most natural character in the show lol

She really loves her family, even if it comes off a bit toxic, I really like her

Also Slyphie looked so majestic in this episode lol, I wasn't so sure who would be best girl but yep, right now I think Slyphie is easily the best girl.

2-3 wives np for Rudy, I don't like it tbh but I reallyyyyyyyyyyyy enjoyyyy seeing how these events unfold, more than the actual story with hitogami and stuff.

Sylphie you’re stronger than most and deserve so much better… but fairs as much as I wanted to because of the cheating situation, I can’t even hate on this episode too much. It really was a beautiful finale that feels like the closing of one chapter in Rudy’s life and the start of another.

One thing that Mushoku Tensei truly excels at in comparison to other isekai is that it really does feel like we’re growing alongside Rudy as the story progresses. It’s not just an anime, but someone’s life story we’re witnessing play out, almost like a biopic.

Norn was the star of the episode in my opinion, her seiyuu brought so much pain and emotion to every line today. From learning of Paul’s death and breaking down to COOKING Roxy and Rudy, she was great. She also said pretty much everything I feel on the matter directly to both people involved so I feel a lot better. It’s like the audience had a proper stand in in the story 😂. If Sylphie ok with it, we move I guess. Funny how in the end, we all become our parents one way or another.

She accepted everything with such grace and I love the “you’re just an ordinary girl who likes Rudy like me” ❤️ love her to bits and she’s going to be an amazing mother to Lucie.

They say you never know true love until you have a child, and that sudden realisation from Rudy that he’s a father, he has a physical tangible legacy, a beautiful loving family.. after everything he went thru in his original life.. just a beautiful moment and he can finally understand how Paul and his parents felt.

“Because you saved me that day I got to hold her.” “Dad I was a failure of a son. But I see myself as Paul greyrats son now.”
The graveyard scene is arguably the greatest mushoku scene so far. A culmination of the entire first two seasons. Rudy was a child when he got reincarnated, physical age is irrelevant. His brain hadn’t developed properly. As he left that gravesite today after talking to Paul’s tombstone, he was a man. Determined to live his life to the fullest and with no regrets. I’m proud of him.

And the last shot of everyone together paying off the volume cover.. yea that and the OST got me pretty emotional. Love it or hate it, there’s nothing like Mushoku Tensei.

Sylphy with long hair was such a nice sight, though only to her misery the news this guy was carrying with him wasn’t nice in the first place, and I’m not only talking about Paul dying along the way, but the audacity of him asking her permission for another marriage. Norn is the most natural character out of all these people, I’ve finally fully realized the same. Feel bad for giving her the flak in some of the previous episodes. I’m glad for once some show did try to portray a kid as a kid, and not an already super mature adult.

In the end, Sylphy is such a nice girl… too good for this guy. I mean he was here to mourn about his father or whatnot, but the moment he was over with the news, he just straight up went to announce his intention to marry Roxy. Norn gave him nicely though… again the most rational character out of ALL in this series. We’re supposed to believe this is such a nice and pretty conclusion that now he can make babies out of two girls, and not just one. Very typical of this series lol. Tbh, that talk at the grave just doesn't even feel serious after all the marriage fiasco we went through this episode.

Series hasn't changed a bit back from that day one, though it became a bit tolerable but that's just it lol. Paul's death was supposed to bring some revolution or was about to change the landscape of this series forever, but yeah, it might have.. though convincing others about taking in a second wife took precedence, sigh. Season 3 will be hyped again now.

Agreed. Norn is the only sane person.

For me the series sure changed but only become less tolerable.

Rudy actions still makes me mad and since he is the MC it makes the series also bad. I agreed.that Paul death should have brought some revolution but all we got another unnecessary love interest so he can make a harem.

Hope S3 brings back that god businesses that could make the show a little better.

@thevipinsingh Sylphy explained herself why, Elinalise gave her reasonings why, hell Paul himself had two wives and despite the situation being dire at the time, Zenith was happy after. And more importantly, the morals of that world be way different than how we think. Norn's own feelings are like that as well not just because of the cheating but because she is a Millis follower and in that religion, only one partner is had. She's right about some things but she can also be seen as enforcing her feelings with her religion on others that don't follow the Millis religion. Like how people watching can be enforcing their own morals and standards for how many partners we can have on them when they are just different. Ultimately the show did explain why there was acceptance. The world has polygamy, nobles have them often, Paul himself had two wives and much more. The actual cheating part isnt good but Sylphie viewed again that she wouldve done a similar thing and at least he was mentally saved by her and it was with someone who Rudeus respected a lot from childhood, not just some random person on the street.

@thevipinsingh Norn's sane because she's the person closest to what we follow, but again, you are enforcing views in a world that has different practices, morals and standards, and what people consider normal there besides Millis followers can be different from what people in this real world, Earth, can follow.

Lotta tourists in here let these characters arcs and plot points go right over their heads

“Rudeus doesn’t deserve Slyphie”
- Slyphie openly admits she took advantage of Rudeus as well and would’ve done the same in Roxy’s place

“Norn spoke facts”
- blatantly hypocritical if you hate Rudeus for polygamy but not your own father. Slyphiette even calls it out too right in front of Aisha

Accept the reality. Mushoku Tensei is a harem.

After what happened in the last episode a confrontation was sure to take place either regarding Paul or Roxy and Norn didn't disappoint in her delivery at all. It was so genuine to hear her grief and frustration so akin to her character on the former, as well as her disgust and prejudgement with the latter. I guess I did want Sylphie to be just a little bit angry about the ordeal but considering how she acted towards Rudy in the last part that wasn't going to happen and the matter was resolved in a very smooth way... perhaps a bit too much but that's ok.

All in all, the quality of series went back up after the quest for viagra that was last season. After a very mellow and tranquil first half stakes went up to eleven in the second one with slick battles, departures and one of the best episodes of the aniem so far. And, considering this is Mushoku Tensei, the affair was bound to happen. Maybe it would have been more realistic if the consequences for it felt more palpable but it's the worst way to do it. There are many romance anime that execute it in a far worse way and in some case in purpose.

So yeah, interest has gone back up for season 3, which I've been told it's gonna make it great again.

Everyone giving sylphy crap for just accepting Roxy. Meanwhile, if anything, it just means she knew, knows, and accepts the man she married. She knew Paul, knew his lineage, worked alongside Luke who is another Greyrat who was known to be a sleezy man whore on campus, and most importantly, knows Rudeus as a dirty pervert. I'd say her reaction and acceptance is actually pretty realistic and natural.

If you're reading this, know that having a baby born feels even better than this episode did. Every child is our personal legacy and borrows heavily from both parents and all their ancestors. I miss my dad and watching Rudy miss his isekai dad still struck a chord, despite it being frivolous yet wholesome entertainment. It's not a very exciting show anymore but it's got heart. Looking forward to season 3.

I still don’t really like the Roxy storyline here but the one thing I really didn’t want was for the girls to all just accept it, so I really liked Norn’s reaction. That plus the reaction to Paul’s death, really liked Norn telling Aisha not to hold back.

Time to break ALL the news to the fam.

Sylphie over here all giddy and welcoming Rudeus back not knowing at all what's about to happen. But yeah. more than anything, I knew that Norn and Aisha's reaction to the whole ordeal was going to be the biggest moment. Though Aisha was more calm than I expected her to be. I mean even an adult would start freaking out and crying like Norn did. Whatever though, the more important and uh worser news to break was the fact that Rudeus wanted to wife best girl.

Gotta say though, Norn's seiyuu killed it this episode. And while she had a point, it really isn't that much of Rudeus' fault. She was kinda getting on my nerves towards the end because, idk if you know this Norn, YOUR DAD WAS THE EXACT, AND I MEAN EXACT SAME AS HIM. Dude just look at Aisha. But obviously the more mature person between the child and adult is the adult in the end, and Rudeus' harem thus begins. And as well as Rudeus' life as a dad and Sylphie's life as a mom also begins. Entire scene with Rudeus at Paul's grave made me shed a year man ":(

Rudeus' life has just now truly begun. A life given all thanks to Paul. His life in this other world continues, ofc in season three.

What a fucking season man. Part 1 was a downgrade on all fronts to many, and this season has easily brought those peoples back to the show. Thank you Bind. See you in season three.

@Teufel Normally, I'm not a fan of the gust of wind in random scenes in anime but I actually liked it a lot here. It is a little cheesy like you said, but it symbolically feels like Paul's giving Rudeus a pat on the back after Rudeus' talk at the graveyard, kind of like encouragement in a way for him to push forward with his life as an adult, and accepting Rudeus for who he is, even with being a person that had other past memories in a previous life. Gives a nice sense of closure with Paul without him being there in person so emotionally, I found that part to be really effective. At least for me.
@animejas That's fair, and the symbolism and emotion all came through, so it's not like the execution was poor by any means. I can say I could live without ever seeing that anime trope again, but with a little effort I could probably think of a dozen others that have been beaten into the ground I still don't ever get tired of. So it's an especially subjective complaint.

I think it's probably about time I start reading the novel.

This episode did well to wrap up the last 24 episodes, but I could feel there were some pieces missing.

I've been waiting for the anime to come out, since the production quality has been impeccable (even with the slight decrease in quality between seasons), but I'm gonna at least read up to this point in the novel before season 3.

In my heart, this was a 10/10 season, but with how much was cut, and the fact that you could really feel the "emptiness" caused by some of those cuts, I'd probably have to rate it 9/10 or somewhere around 8.5/10, realistically.

@Teufel I can understand the subjective complaint, even I'm normally a bit pessimistic whenever I see it done whether it is with some serious moments or especially when it comes to fanservice moments that are forced because of a gust of wind that causes bad misunderstandings. I just personally wanted to point out that this was one of the few times where I felt the usage of this actually worked to the benefit than necessarily being in the same realm of just purely being overused and meaningless like I've also seen in various other anime I've seen.

Beautiful, emotional episode. I can't handle the wait for the next season.

Yall can handle dragons, magic, gods, but can't handle two wives for one man? Don't claim the moral high ground upon which you do not stand yourselves. Stop the stupid virtue signalling and the mindless hate. Go bother someone else.
