| i prefer to read phyiscal copies rather than digital ones; it just feels nicer. but if i am reading it on a device it would be on my ipad (sometimes my phone if i'm doing a quick check/flip through of the manga). |
| I rarely read manga on my phone, but sometimes happens when I'm too lazy to find and boot the tablet (it's slow and heavy). Overall, the tablet is my favorite. It's large, bright and colorful. I'm also okay with my e-book reader, it's more eye friendly, but smaller, monochrome (not really a problem tho, except for the cover) and I have to choose between ghost images (not acceptable) or screen flashing every new page (a bit annoying but not that bad) |
| I have an Honor Tab x9. I specifically chose it for reading manga because of the 11.5-inch 120hz 2k display. High quality manga looks so crisp, and it's really fluid and responsive. |

I tried to read on my Kindle, but that's too much of hassle, like pre-downloading stuff, converting to a specific format etc. I was thinking to buy one of those newer Pocketbook devices with colorful e-ink, but they still don't have Android, so I can't just install my reader app and go... If someone explored it and ended up with a perfect mobile setup which doesn't fall apart on a sunny day, please share. |

I can't say for sure how it performs in the daylight as I haven't tried reading it outside, but perhaps I could find out and show you, if you'd like. I download manga online as .cbz files and transfer them as to my tablet. .cbz files are are basically ZIP folders with series of numbered images. The screen can only display grayscale colors. There is also temporary burn in when flipping through pages, but that can be easily fixed by sliding my finger up on the line on the right side of the tablet. This refreshes the screen, removing the burn in. I can see how this could be a hassle for some, though. It has no backlight, so it doesn't get hot and the screen won't strain your eyes. I've shared an image of the tablet below. If you look closely, you'll notice burn in from another page. |

| @coolvampire Thanks for sharing. So you still need to go to some manga site, download as .cbz, upload to the device and then read? That's what I did with my kindle (with an extra step to convert .cbz to .mobi). Ideally I would like an Android colorful e-ink device, so I could install a reading app and skip all the preparation steps, getting the same experience as on mobile/tablet, but with e-ink. I've tried one such e-ink device with Android in a store, but its screen felt rubbish compared to Kindle/Pocketbook I'm using for books. I'll probably go for colorful Pocketbook and pre-downloading/conversion step, just asked here in case someone found a better setup... |

| I've got a Kindle and have a decent collection of manga on there now! I've always loved physically collecting but have had to sell most of my collection since I'm moving to another country soon. Kindle has allowed me to keep reading without spending thousands to transport my collection. (It's sad to sell most of my physical collection but I'm seeing it as a journey to recollect and uh, actually complete series. I had a silly habit of buying lots of different series but only completing a few. Would like to change that so I kept my completed series like "Galaxy Angel", "A.I. Love You", etc.) |
