Very surprised by this 1st episode. I was expecting absolutely nothing and I came away really won over by this hidden gem. There's a nice mix between cdgt and post-apo that's working pretty well so far. It's zany and wacky, the jokes hit the mark, the animation is really clean, and the universe and characters look promising. What more could you ask for?

That intro was hilarious. Though the episode itself was far more conventional narratively and visually I hope the humor remains.

Loved the ED! Melody reminded me of something familiar so I couldn't stop but search where I heard it before. I think I found it. It reminded me of "Pandora Hearts - Lacie's Melody". Same vibe when instrumentals start playing.

Another post-apocalyptic adventure anime and one which feels somewhat like a mix between Tengoku Daimakyou and Kemono Friends? Count me in to the max.

Oh, and a little bit of Lycoris Recoil as well, but I think the representation of that one is just illusory due to Chisato's voice actress' presence.

Anyway, the best part of this episode, besides the premise itself, was just how information dense and packed it was. Sometimes that means really having to revisit certain scenes to zero in on what was said in a specific instance as a fast pace plus a lot of dialogue and information can make it overwhelming, but it's series with those types of episodes in part or all the way through which often make for a richer and more rewarding experience when going back and watching them again in the future in any context, as there's always new tidbits to pick up on and certain lines you may have glossed over haphazardly or taken at face value rather than analyzing or ascertaining their meaning on the first go-around. Nothing here was particularly cryptic, but just the energy and pacing created that sensation of being bombarded from all sides as we quickly jolted from scene to scene.

I'm not a fan of fast pacing generally and prefer vastly slower pacing in the long run, but here it did contribute to help fostering a sense of dizzying disorientation expected from sudden introduction to an unfamiliar world: The world of the alien post-7G landscape.

It's a good thing, not just for this series, but for all series, I don't waste time and energy even bothering to try to learn and commit the characters' (whether main, supporting, or minor ones) names to memory in the first bunch of episodes, choose to focus on all the other information instead, and just allow that memory to form organically if it's important enough (which it basically always is for any series I don't drop, but I just see no cause to force the issue prematurely).

I expected something completely different.
I'll give it one more chance next week, but all the hype I had just went away.
All these die hard creative quirks feels too forced.

This is how you do an original. Risky, creative, and having the budget to provide a decent level of quality. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out.

Well this was definitely an experience. Honestly don’t know what I just watched. I’m hooked though. Very interesting premiere with cute girls, a lot of mystery and an interesting story. 5G conspiracists about to have a field day with this one 😂.

I wonder if it’s going to be a mental thing with the girls imagining everyone as animals and a post apocalyptic world or if it’ll be a purgatory situation or what. The concept of them going on a train journey in a post apocalyptic setting has potential.. the girls have good chemistry, strong seiyuu cast and solid direction so far. The 7G scene most notably being very trippy.. but that’s kinda it so far. Too early to really make a judgement on this. I think most of us will feel this is worth following to see where it goes, if only for the girls lol.

I believe this also has some staff that worked on Shirobako too!

This has to be the most random thing I’ve watched in a while, just casually the world gets thrown into some apocalyptic state.

Everyone being animals is weird af and I’m just casually gonna brush past the fact I’m pretty sure I saw a triceratops during the episode.

This show has potential to be pretty good. It’s got a fun cast.

(The op and ed song is also killer 🔥🔥)

I feel the fact that it's so random is a strength. It makes the audience wonder wtf is happening lol. Which can be fun

Yeah true and I’m assuming it’s meant to be going the mystery route. Keeps me invested.

Very interesting 1st episode. While it's a post apocalyptic adventure, the 7G fear and panic makes it lean closer to an avant garde type of show. I'm sticking around whichever side gets the spotlight.

Okay, I'm intrigued asf now. Gotta love when Japanese writers decide to make anime while intoxicated.
Interesting premise with tons of potential and the subtle dark vibes the episode had make me wonder what kind of situations these girls will have to face.

So the world won't be ruined by zombies or some strange virus, but by 7G. Well, we still have a long way to go for that.

I quite liked the OP, and the ED was pretty good too. As for the main group of characters, they seem to have good chemistry, and their personalities are well-defined.

It seems like the kind of anime that starts off nicely and will get darker with each episode. Since these usually hook me, let's give it a shot and see what happens.

Like others suspected this isn't going to be an average CGDCT about trains.

I really liked the artstyle changes when she pushed the 7G button, hope they do more like that. This plot is pretty unique and they can do a lot with it IMO. I wonder what other people have turned into for entire shipping companies to be wiped out and for there to be bloody handprints left on the only company left.

The specific plant that one girl ordered, she's going to turn into an animal that favors it right? Also I liked how trippy and laid back the OP was.

Looks like this is going to be the most interesting thing this season. But as well as being all sorts of weird in the story department, it had a lovely sense of pace and rhythm generally, I was enjoying just listening to the actors and watching everyone be a bit different in various ways.

A new story that is quite fresh is present this season. What really happened to make their world so chaotic, people suddenly turned into animals and strange things appeared.

The journey to Ikebukuro has just begun, so what is really there? Looking forward to this one.

... What did I just watch? LOL Going into this completely blind but this is already very different from what I had in mind. Although I did guess the whole train thing from the title, which is what got me interested, this is a pretty strange start. I will stick around, but my hopes aren't too high for this show

I like the idea of them going on a trip and getting to see all these weird places created by the 7G network, and judging by the blood on the cars, things could get very dark soon. I will admit though, the pacing is weird, along with that whole interaction with Yoka and the other girl (don't remember her name). That whole part just felt so weirdly put together

I'm interested. The dialogue and moment-to-moment of each scene is fast and feels off compared what I'm used to, but I don't find it off-putting in this case. I think this one's gonna be a fun time (maybe not for the characters, but I'm not gonna be predicting any super dark stuff just yet). I also think the main character Shizuru is really likeable.

Ok but this show is actually kind of cute I literally chose to watch it because of the dog in the picture lol. The backgrounds are really good the animation isn’t the best but I can get past this. I liked the background music and this overall had a really nice aesthetic to it. One thing I will say is the characters talk way too fast, but it doesn’t bother me too much. Still, this first episode was pretty good imo
