| Anime that were made prior to the 60s are not really worth watching in my opinion, and the anime that came out in the 1910s are even more skippable. Currently, I would say the best decade in anime would have to be either the 80s, 90s, 00s, or 10s. |

| 1910s was rather sad period for anime, only two of the 28 anime made in that period has survived till today (Namakura Gatana and Momotarō). The 1923 earthquake destroyed almost everything. Sound was missing from anime until 1933 but it was not silent in the movie theater. In Japan they had a profession called benshi who were storytellers who interpreted and acted the events on the screen. There were also anime made which were synchronized with phonographic records which provided the sound. |
