There are plenty of all time great movies that have a much slower pace than One Piece - plus, no work of art can ever be liked by EVERYONE. One Piece just might not be your cup of tea - and that's ok.

Secondly, you've gotta understand that those early One Piece episodes that you're currently watching came out 24 YEARS AGO by this point - so the way weekly anime, especially an ADVENTURE shonen (as opposed to a more battle oriented one like Naruto or whatever) was paced, was different back then. Ofc the story is about them going to & exploring different islands, the culture & conflicts there, etc - it's a story about pirates, what else would it be about?🤷🏾‍♂️

Plus, it's a scientifically proven & accepted
fact after all, that most people today have less attention span, focus, patience etc than 20 years ago (before 'infinite scroll' social media apps,TikToks, reels, most mainstream movies having a quip or shiny CGI shot every 5 minutes etc altered most of our brain chemistry) - so ofc early One Piece, especially until Ep 92, which is relatively low stakes AND slow paced, caring more about introducing the characters & the crew's dynamics, interactions etc with each other, will feel "boring" to you after Attack on Titan, or even generic ass (but pretty looking) Demon Slayer. Itna mushkil hai toh mat dekho, baba.

Although I will say that at THIS point, when you're at Ep 200, the loss will ONLY be yours, because it's around Ep 227 or so onwards that even One Piece FANS started considering it a G.O.A.T tier series. The 300 episode stretch from that point onwards is an almost UNPARALLELED collection of peaks (in both number & height) in practically all of anime.

Finally, do try watching the One PACE fan edit instead - it's more faithful to the manga, and removes even filler MOMENTS from within episodes, and so will probably solve your "too slow" complaint. Remember: there's a reason why the One Piece MANGA is a lot more critically acclaimed than the anime, after all; and the superior pacing is a huge part of it.

I am on 200 episode now, It's toooooooooooooooooo slow. its hard to watch even 1.25 speed. Should I continue?
And it's feels like it's still on plot making phase. New Island new story just like pokemon.
Animation 😐 okey no problem

If it's gonna better then witch episode?

it took me honestly 300 eps to like one piece.. it's okay everyone has their own pace and liking. i binged it sometime at 3x speed too.. I'll just say wait a little bit until water 7 arc i think and you might start enjoying it

What was your expectations of one piece? Were you going in for the story, action, adventure, the characters? Because I wouldn’t recommend watching it for action but more for the story, mystery, lore and the world building and stuff related to the history and the world government. Maybe giving one more arc a chance? If you’re not feeling it then, then I would just say it may not be your thing

Why the hell are you watching up to 200 episodes if you're not enjoying? You're just wasting your time at this point. You could've watched a lot of other Anime that could interest you instead of wasting your time.

if you want some technical aspects then
from ep 207 the aspect ratio will change from 4:3(old school anime) to 16:9(new ones) and get HD quality and after the timeskip it will get even better which is around

and if you are concerned for the pacing then sadly it hasn't improved till the latest episode

One Piece is a long series, so obviously not every episode is gonna be masterpiece level like Steins;Gate. It's basically the ultimate test of patience.

When does it get better? That differs from person to person. For me it improved significantly at the Water 7 Arc, which should be around episode 230 if I remember correctly.

To answer your question more definitively without spoilers. One piece is seperated into 3 major phases. The first phase is considered the straw hats journey into the world as they are introduced to many locations and warlords of the sea. You also get the introductory saga were you learn the backstories of the main characters. However this phase is often the most episodic for that reason because its primarly just focused on the straw hats journey across the grandline.

The 2nd phase how ever you start to see the larger world of OP open up, there is MANY more moving pieces and characters that evolve and return creating a larger multifaceted narative that keeps things fresh and interesting but ever evolving.

The final phase is where years of preparation and build up of lore, mythologies and world building start to form an apex where everything seemingly connects into a grand finale where all the plot threads combine to create the climax of the 25+ year long journey. Every journey every place you have encounterd will all tie into that ending in some way. We are now currently in that final phase in the manga.

Well I can understand that the series at its core is an adventure series and oda often at time stretched out specific arcs, especially in the anime with its added padding, if you do stick with it how ever you will notice a dramatic shift in the plot progression. In most case scenerio though if you have watched 200 ep and still don't find it to your liking then one piece may not be for you.

One Piece masterfully shows the intertwinement of ambitions of dozens of characters, even crossing the fabric of time.
It's a jigsaw puzzle where each arc is a piece towards helping us visualise the grand scheme of things (the big picture).

I agree pacing is too slow/repetitive at certain arcs, so I do recommend One Pace like most others have above.

Welcome to the journey, and enjoy!

I started my Journey in one piece in 2021 and I remember waking up everyday early and sleeping 5 hours a day cuz I just loved watching the anime, I loved it so much that I didn't noticed the bad pacing after episode 150-200. I'm now up to date to the manga and it's genuinely amazing and I don't regret going into this amazing Journey. it may be hard for some people but if you've watched 200 episodes already but you found very slow then watch one pace, it is genuinely a great fan project that will help you be up to date without finding it to be slow

U r a fan of mindless action shounen so rushing to Ennies Lobby is the way.
Later on you get to realize those initial chapters were so much better written than the more mindless action focused series that it became ...
but again that's what you like(no offense) so if u get past the grind you may enjoy it specially now

how tf are those NOT connected to the story as a whole? 💀

I’m on episode 240 and the water seven arc that I’m watching now is the best part of the show so far.

Its crazy we have to go 220 episodes in to feel like this, but I’ve been pretty liberal about skipping fillers and skimming slower arcs. I really wanted to judge the show on when it “gets good”, but it’s pretty frustrating how long that takes.

I have liked parts of the show up until this arc, but without the reputation, I probably would have dropped ages ago

Imo biggest problem in one piece is the villains. They all suck and have no personality or real motive. Even in eneies lobby, which is considered to be one of the best, has pretty generic villains. Get to enies lobby and if you aren’t sold stop.

Crocodile, Doflamingo, Katakuri aren't generic one dimensional villains they all had motives and unique personalities. don't just dumb them down
Even someone like Arlong had reasons for what he did. ,They aren't just evil for the sake of being evil like Freiza

True but there'll always be that one guy who says the opposite

chill bro Ignore that BOT

I'm just gonna say that you should continue because I didn't feel that one piece was boring in my time,
i enjoyed alabasta and Skypie they were the times that I found one piece to be really enjoyable and it kinda bonded with me back then, so you should definitely watch the whole series and the upcoming arcs are just so well written you'll see

ya I know pacing in one piece is not the best but it is how it is :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I respect your opinion.
But, I like demon slayer for action not for story. Just like dragon ball.

Actually it's my felt i thought One piece story better than Naruto or close.
(Why? People say so)
That's why I am Desopointed.
New island new story i didn't like that.(example doremon)
I like one story.

At the end, i am gonna watch 100 more episode.

you know if you wanna know about one piece you gotta dig deep in the story, many loopholes, foreshadowing, and the surprising element is that how the arcs are connected throughout the series which PPL really liked TBH

and it depends on you in the end, bro if you didn't keep up with the pacing just drop it if you feel like you can't give that much of a time to a series

but TBH honest I think you should not do that but enjoy the Journey, after skypia arc (144-195) the crew will make its way to water 7(episode 207) which I think you are gonna love it (one of the best arcs of one piece)

Ah yes, the pace plight of every soon-to-be One Piece fan. Just give it time my friend. A site called One Pace removes much of the pacing issues. You could also read the manga. Either way, it's worth the journey.

honestly ....you are right. real fun starts around ep 450. till that take it as relax anime and dont speed up things. I skipped some parts and at the end i rewatched whole one piece again and i really missed these parts. I would like to tell u to focus on details of these episodes bcs they hide a lot of secret content but u wont find out till u wont rewatch. u already saw 200 episodes so go for it !

@SKILIFT26 yes the build up to alabasta was really good and the arc itself was really good but what i meant was after alabasta, for 100+ eps, it became boring and directly from water 7 it became interesting

Drop it, if you're at 200 you're already past the Alabasta arc. If you don't like it by now, you're not gonna like it in the future.
The best experience is the manga though, the anime, especially in the later arcs are full of padding where they just stretch scenes that were only a few panels in the manga.
