| They likely aren't refusing, it just takes time to process. You don't get your account deleted immediately when you go through the procedure to have it deleted which is in your account settings page giving a link to a form to fill out. They might be doing that to prevent banned users from recreating their account to get around bans, though I question it's legality. Also resubmitting your tickets may be slowing it down. Yes, but I suppose some people just want to keep their names. When a user is banned I dont think they can change their account infolikethat. I assume the restriction isn't actually there at least for once a user is unbanned, it probably just is some bad code. MAL has a long history of being known for spaghettified coding which is probably why it has swapped ownership so many times it just is hard to manage while also turning a profit. |

At first it didn't work for me, but that was because I just changed emails. Support told me to wait until 30 days have passed since my email change, though it ended up being technically 31 days until it worked. |

| @commonxreaction Just for your information if they fail to delete your account within one months you can just report them to your national privacy authority and make them liable for up to 20 million euro. I wouldn't mind if MAL gets a new owner this way. |

We're closing in on a year. Still no solution? I'm still able to post. I still request deletion and get nothing? What the heck is up mods?

From what ive seen Kineta say without naming you they will delete your account after I think it was six months not sure if that was past your request or past your ban date. I guess it is to try and stop users from deleting their accounts to evade detection for their repeated violations by hopping accounts. Im not sure if it is the admins decision or the decision of Media Do. I dont think posting horse cock on alt accounts is helping you get your account deleted sooner. It is a futile waste of effort. Unless that is a different user with same problem. Why are you so concerned about them holding your data and having it deleted quickly? Do you just not want them to profit off of it? Notice the "do not sell my personal information" at the bottom of the page? It has to be stored as a cookie though for whatever reason so for me i never get to reject my data being sold as im supposed to because i cant store the cookie. I think the data they sell is just related to browsing habits and maybe something related to ads rather than your email address. Should be in privacy policy explaining what data they sell. |

I think they made it not user controlled because deleting data is entirely different from just deleting your account it removes all traces of your personally identifying information while account deletion they likely still have your IP addresses and possibly email. Also it would possibly be difficult to implement when it wasnt originally designed into MALs code. Some users they seemingly delete it after a few days some it takes longer. |

| It truly is insane that MAL's official stance on account deletion is that if your account has ever been banned in the past your only way of account deletion is contacting customer support. There should be a cooldown period but never? Even after a year or 10 years? That's nonsense |
