Shiguang Dailiren II Episode 9 Discussion

I’m confused. I don’t understand what the flashbacks are supposed to give us as far as information/motives of the villains, I don’t understand the point of the twins story animated as furry animals, I don’t understand the connection between the villains themselves or what they want from CXS/Lu, etc.

This entire episode only made me have more questions and become frustrated. I can usually process information better with dubs instead of subs because the way my brain works so maybe it will be easier to organize the details once I can rewatch in dub and hear it instead of only reading. I mean I love this show so much but I can’t follow it at the moment.

The flashbacks represent the story of the 3 main villains and their motivations. Qian Jin (the ex cop turned police officer) found out that his wife cheated on him. He was too busy with work and as a result the wife became pregnant with another man's baby. Later on she dies (we don't know exactly who her killer is. It could be Qian or it could be a random burgler that as mentioned in Ep 4 or was it Ep 5).

The 2nd flashback is Li Tianchen's story (the brother) and how he met Qian Jin. The scene transitions from black and white into color because it represents how Qian Jin and Li Tianchen both share common trauma with one another. Also, Tianchen confessess that he murdered his parents (episode 10 explains how he did it). Tianchen becomes disturbed by it and starts laughing. Qian Jin, who was touching Tianchen also starts laughing because their emotions are connected due to Tianchen's powers. In this flashback, we learn who Tianchen's mysterious friend is (he is Liu Min's little brother who was briefly mentioned in the first episode of S2). This is foreshadowing because this person will probrably be the villain for S3 or will play a role in S3.

The 3rd flashback, is a fairytale and doesn't seemlessly transition like how flashback 1 transitioned to flashback 2. The reason being is that Li Tianxi (the sister) is against what is going on. So her flashback is a fairytale because after witnesing her parents die, she becomes so traumatized that her intellectual development is stunted to that of a child. So her flashback represents her childlike mind. The 3rd story tells how her brother became evil and as a result Li Tianxi ran away. The flashback also provides hint about what is going on with Li Tianxi. Notice how she is seen in physical contact with her brother and then waking up from a nap. This is explained in Ep 10. Another important hint is a flashback where their mother and Chin Bin are crying and saying sorry. It's actually not the mother / Chin Bin who is actually crying. It is someone else.

The episode concludes that with Li Tianchen meeting Liu Min (villain in S1) for the first time. Tianchen has become a hitman for Liu Min and murders his neighbor (who we find out was spreading rumors that his mother was cheating on a teacher) Because the neighbor spread the rumors, his father became abusive and attacked his wife.

As for why the villains are interested in CXS, Qian Jin mentioned it when he was looking at the poster of Romeo and Juliet. It is because CXS has the power to go back into the past. They want to use this power to change history / fate.

So it was the blonde dude who was his friend from school. The chibi sequence used to reaveal things was nice. Also damn his wife was cheating on him. Was the kid his or?

No, the blonde dude is Liu Min and TianChen's friend is his younger brother Liu Xiao.

@kizumi91 No, I'm pretty sure it's Liu Min as he mentions about how Tianchen seems familiar to him.

@MegamiRem it could be the case that he had seen a picture of TianChen. Not to mention their ages don't match up, Liu Min is 27 years old while TianChen is only 19.

@kizumi91 I didn't know about his age. His younger brother makes more sense due to age yeah. I also at first thought it was the younger brother bur due to how Liu Min said Tianchin seemed familiar I thought it was him. Anyway we'll know for sure once it's revealed.
