| It's the survivorship bias. Not all people involved in anime necessarily use MAL, plus you will need to get full statistics on the audience here to understand why they voted for a particular character. Not to mention flash mobs, which are often organized to raise one or another character in the rating. |

| Wouldn't be surprised if any iconic/main characters from popular shounen battle or iconic shows would be more popular like: Pikachu, Madara, Naruto, Ichigo, Aizen, Ulquiorra, Itachi, Goku, Vegeta, Ash, Eren etc. |
| Its kind of whatever to me if other characters are more popular but take Pikachu from the first post: Code Geass had 50 TV episodes on the main series. I believe theres some movies as well. Pikachu has had how many hundreds of episodes, popular games and movies again? The popularity per exposure is simply off so comparing them when a good deal of the popularity is just exposure might not seem very fair. |

| I think there are probably many characters more popular than Lelouch, especially Goku and Ash. I believe that most people who are fans of those series, however, do not have an account here on MAL. It seems that MAL users at least watch more than stuff like Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Naruto and all of the other shows like that at a minimum, even if that is something like Death Note or Attack on Titan. Also the Pokemon and Dragon Ball fans are likely to only be fans of those specific shows, and not fans of other anime, so they don't go on here. |

| nah . Only people that are really into anime knows Lelouch. Ask 100 people ( all age ) on the street : if they know Luffy, Goku, Pikachu , Ash( Sacha in France ) or Lelouch. I can say that Pikachu, Ash and Goku will be on top. And Lelouch on the bottom. |

| I think Lelouch is still a popular character because Code Geass is still one of the most popular anime of all time, however it is definitely towards the lower echelon of that cut, and also it only holds that prestige on MAL. Code Geass fans are definitely a lot older now on average than say Jujutsu Kaisen or Attack on Titan fans. I think that realistically, he would be below Levi, Eren, and Mikasa from AOT. From JJK, Gojo would definitely be above Lelouch since JJK is very popular among newer anime fans. Other people in this thread have mentioned Pikachu, which is obvious, but also characters from the Big 3 like Luffy, Naruto, Zoro, or Ichigo. I think that all of these characters, plus some other Naruto and One Piece characters, would also be above Lelouch. Also Dragon Ball characters too, Light and L from Death Note, Hunter X Hunter, and numerous other popular shows. |
