I am a newcomer to the Fate series.I haven't watched a single episode of any of the numerous Fate adaptations that have aired before it.My question is, do the previous adaptions have any impact on this recent anime/is the recent anime that is coming out a continuation of the previous ones or completely separate with its own new characters and storyline.Long story short, can I watch this without having watched any Fate anime?

Yes , but really not recommended...
It's a Spin-Off mentionning a few elements and using some characters of the Main Story , and some other Spin-Offs.
This Special should only adapt the Prologue tho , so you shouldn't have too much difficulties.

I'd recommend you to watch the Main Story at the very least. If you want the full order :

It's just a spin-off, so you can watch it. I would highly recommend watching the original Anime (Zero, UBW, Heavens feel) first cause most of the spin-offs are just alternative versions of stay/night

Not recommended for a first time watcher since it may have callbacks to the original series and such.
This is a spinoff intended for audiences familiar with the Fate franchise, Definitely not newcomer friendly.

Thank u so much. This is what I needed.Someone who would break it down piece by piece and in sequence. Now I can finally start watching it.A lot many people tell me how to watch it when asked but noone gave me such a detailed and easy roadmap to follow like u did.I am a completionist, so I will watch everything.

Alright.I get it.I was itching to see mainly bcuz the music theme is by Hiroyuki Sawano. And after hearing his god tier music in "Re-Creators" and "86" I just can't ignore an anime that has music by Hiroyuki Sawano. That's why I am goin to watch "Solo Levelling " as well bcuz it also has music by him.

I get what you mean, Hiroyuki Sawano is an absolute God of Music haha, But tbh if anything you should watch Fate series now because it has some amazing soundtracks and banger Openings and Endings!
It's a 10/10 Experience.

btw it seems like you will start with the 2006 stay night, the animation is not that good so it my throw you off but try to power through it because it will be worth it for the series that comes after.

Fate/Strange Fake is just a special based on a manga. I havnt read it, so I can't tell you what to expect, but if you want to get into the Fate series, just follow the list below.

Main storyline
1. Fate/Zero
2. Fate/Stay Night (2006)
3. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works
4. Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel trilogy

Everything else is up to you on how you wanna watch it. The rest of the series are just alternate timelines.

There will be people saying to skip the 2006 Stay/Night, but don't. Stay/Night is a visual novel, and there are 3 routes to it. If you skip the first one, you'll miss out on information. You'll see a lot of people complain about how the animation isn't the best either, but it's still an important part of the story, so I say go ahead and watch it.

Extremely weird of you to agree that the 2006 Anime shouldn't be skipped , but still say to watch Zero first.
The only reason as to why the 2006 Anime/Fate Route was made first is to be able to expose all basic lore in one Route.
Zero summarised all of that in the first 10 minutes or so of its 50 minutes 1st episode.

That was a really clear dive in for the Fate franchise !

I'll just add a precision for what you mentioned in additional readings: most of the stuff in there is not actually a direct part of the Fate franchise but rather of the extended Type-Moon universe which is often calles Nasuverse by the fans.

Though almost all of Type-Moon's works are part of that Universe, there are 4 main franchises from which spawned all of the later works:

- Mahoutsukai no Yoru, or Witch on the Holy Night: A visual Novel that came out late (like 2012) but it was the first written story out of the 4. Its remaster is the first visual Novel that was officially translated and sold outside of Japan

- Kara no Kyoukai, or The Garden of Sinners: a series of Light Novels that was adapted in a series of movies by Ufotable. This was the first Ufotable/Type-Moon collaboration

- Tsukihime: a very popular visual novel from the early 2000s. It was adapted into a very good manga and a very bad anime. A remake of it is currently ongoing (the first part was already released but only in Japan)

- Fate/Stay Night: also a very popular visual novel. Like mentioned, it has many adaptations of its different routes. It's by far the most popular of all of these works and its the basis of all the enormous Fate franchise.

These works have some minor connections (for instance characters of Mahoutsukai no Yoru appear in Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai) but the concepts and rules of the universe are shared between all the works, hence the emergence of the Nasuverse concept

I mean yea, but it's told a different way, and you don't see the relationship build between Saber and Emiya if you skip it just cuz Zero gives you the lore. That's kind of the whole reason it was made. It's one of 3 routes that Emiya follows. I didn't watch the original for the lore. Like you said, Zero does that well.

I didn't said it did well tho.

Squeezing all of that with huge info bumps for 10 whole minutes is clearly not a good idea , which is why it was difficult to watch for many , and therefore one of the reason as to why it's not good to watch it first.
It's like how UBW squeeze the development of Saber in 10 seconds because you are supposed to already know all of that.

I never understood why would anyone would recommend newcomers to start with this disaster, I mean seriously what is the point of starting the series with the "correct" order if newcomers like this guy ends up dropping the series altogether. I know that for a fact because I know two irl friends who dropped the show by episode 4 because they started with the 2006 anime
